Pleased to meet you, I'm a Mage who doesn't use Mana Wyrm, Pyroblast (admittedly because I don't have one lol), Elementals, Sorcerors and Arcane Missiles.
But I sorta agree, Mage's starting kit is VERY strong... No reason not to use many cards.
I can't believe how far you have your head buried in the sand over Priests if you think theyre fine XD seriously, did you think Rogues were 'fine' too pre-nerf?
over 50% of my games at 3 star Masters are against Priests, all with the exact same deck, SWP/D/Smite/MC/Lightspawn/Blademasters, link your so so good anti-priest deck?
Fun note* You are talking out of your ass, and we will see who the Devs side with at the next big patch when Priests are put back in their place.
Let's break down your post, shall we?
1- Priests are nowhere near comparable with rogues pre-nerf.
2- You talk like masters 3 is such a big deal, everyone is there. Also, I had no idea 5/6 cards made an entire deck model. I guess every mage plays the same deck as well.
3- The Devs will side with the group that whines the most, like Blizz devs have always been, both in StarCraft II and in World of Warcraft, that much is clear. But I'm sure they will do a fine job in the end, certainly the nerf (if they do nerf) won't be that big, nothing comparable to rogue, like I said before.
4- Constructive posts don't really need to be offensive. Now I know who to ignore when reading comments.
here's the thing, you didn't actually address any of my points did you? In my other replies in the thread, another Priest player here I guess.
Priests are WORSE than Rogues pre nerf, they have way more staying power and control, whilst being able to not have to sacrifice on damage, how is that balanced? Please address SWP/SWD/Mind games/Cabal/Mind control/Mind vision/PWS giving 2 health AND draw....these all sound very balanced don't they.
Saying "oh well, play murlocs!" is the most ridiculous thing ever, and you should know that.
it's the fact Priest has 6 Assassinate spells.
It is the fact that their removal is based on the ATTACK of minions, SWP/SWD/Mind Games/Cabal/MC aren't broken by themselves, but together they're overpowered and anyone with a brain can see that it completely fucked with the meta.
lol. Anyone arguing that Priests aren't OP / broken are beyond delusional. There's a reason half the player base at Master is a Priest. They're gonna get nerfed - deal with it.
Just some changes to make them more balanced:
Hero power changed from 2 healing to 1 healing (same cost)
Mind Control limited to 1 per deck (or changed to be a temporary control of card)

Hero power changed from 2 healing to 1 healing (same cost)

Holy Nova changed to 1 damage and 1 healing
SW:D and SW:P limited to 1 per deck each
Lightspawn cost increased to 6 mana
Half the player base at Master plays Priest... Right.
I'm not even going to comment on your suggestions for nerfs. If they would even consider doing that, they might just delete the class entirely.

"Fun" note: The only decent competitive priests play aggro ;)
I dont know if you have Ekop qualify as decent but he tried aggro priest last MG(before MLG) and got top 16 but that was it. I personally as you've pointed out tho don't find priests hard at all but just depends on your deck. If your seriously concerned about priests(@op) start getting more 4/x in your deck, also most competitive priests I've seen only roll with 1 sw:d as it's uses are far more limited then a sw:p usually that is, late game druids wold be the big exception^^
Ekop is definitely a great player. It is just that most priests decks get too easily countered to play great on tournaments. That's what I ment with decent. Add in the Elimination Format isn't a good way to determine "who is who" in cardgames, and you see such results.
Priest are in a really strange situation, as long as they stay in their unprepared environment (lower leagues), they are considered "too strong". Once they go top league, they loose to much potential: 2 dead cards in deck with SW:D; Mind Control being a bad trade of for them; silence all the way; forcing them to play a more aggressive style, dropping nearly anything from the deck priests are so famous for. Aggro isn't something priests like to play. And yet it keeps the meta tight for all other players.
Of course for arena there are different rules ;)

Priests are op in my opinion. Not because of MC, but the ability to control the trades completely. Every single priest minion (except cleric) gets to kill at least 1 enemy minion.
I only just started playing priest a little bit and I generally agree with the overall sentiment here. If someone is ready to counter you, you go down...hard. I tweaked my deck to be a kind of cheap aggro deck and I have to struggle sometimes to eek out a win. When I do win, it's almost always because my opponent made a blatantly bad play.
I'm honestly surprised my post has this much criticism. And I have to disagree with most of the sentiments expressed. Specifically in the case of limiting certain cards to 1 per deck. MC is easily the best card in the game, and combined with SW:D gives the Priest effectively 4 Assasinates in the late game. Not even taking into account the fact that MC gives you the opponents card. Limiting these cards to 1 per deck still gives the Priest plenty of control without being game-breaking as it is now. And this is coming from someone who has a Priest Master's deck. Also, this is a beta, and sometimes dramatic changes are needed to help restore balance to the game. Personally, I'd like to see other CC like Polymorph limited to 1 per deck as well, but that's a separate discussion.
End of the day you guys have a right to your opinion, as do I, but the Priest as it is right now can't go live.

That's your opinion, I dont know what it's based of, be it a 1-2 ragegame loss to MC in diamond or if it is what it should be 100+++ games in play mode with competitive decks at masters 3.I doubt it is the last one cause as it's been stated already, priests perform good mid ladder but high they just don't cut it. How you got to MC being the best card in the game is baffling, the priest use up his/her turn more or less on getting a creature of your board for 8. Any removal will negate this.So to fix your last sentence "End of the day you a right to your opinion, as do I, but the Priest as it is right now is pretty average to weak in high-end play mode."
It's not his opinion, don't be an idiot, there's a reason for 8 out of 10 players being Priests, and let me tell you it's not Anduin's ravishing good looks.
Please be nice to each other. Priests are definitely easy to combo play, and therefore played much in lower leagues. So it is true, a lot play priest. But it is also true, once you go top league, hardly anyone plays priest, because tehir strength becomes their weakness.

Not only taking it off your board, but taking it for themselves. So, yeah. It's amazing. Not to mention you still have 2 mana left over after using it at endgame 10 mana. Name a better card in terms of cost/utility that completely changes the course of the game.
And I don't get this mid-ladder only Priest line... I see tons and tons of good Priests at Master. Hell I even have a deck myself that does amazingly. I feel like I'm hitting a nerve because of these type of reactions. Seems to me like some people just want to protect Priest OP by throwing up smoke screens.

Flamestrike, Unleash the Hounds, Holy Nova, Hellfire, Shadow Madness, Polymorph, Swipe, Starfall, Fire Elemental, Blade Flurry, Divine Favor... Need I say more?

Some good cards, but none of them are better than MC. So... no :/
I feel like they're just a bit too cost efficient for the cards they can destroy, shadow word pain is a good clear for 2-4 cost mana cards usually, while shadow word death is an amazing clear for anything with attack of 5+. Mind control is also particularly effective relative to other removal cards, because not only does it "remove" the card from your opponents field, but it gives you the card as well. Making it so that if you're playing a high cost card, you almost need to have removal of your own ready, in case it turns against you
