As a Priest main, It's really disappointing that yet I haven't found a Priest deck in this 2 years, Which have shown a little bit of consistency & with this new expansion even with all the imagination we have , have failed to produce a working deck.
It's like Ben Brode & his team have yet to realise the problem with the priest classes. The problem Priest faces in early game. So in majority of times we are losing the battle at the turn 2- turn 3 When we have nothing to play on the board & this lack of board presence are hitting us heavy. then he option of coming back is to have a strong board clear, Which we are severely lacking ( we had but they removed). Even the board clear we have are slow & not enough to make a comeback after the initial damage. Then the always existing vulnerability from combo deck , which is a bane of the Priest class for eternity. now I am not going to look upon those problems or then I will have to write a book of a size of Lord of the Rings.
Until they are going to figure out these two problems, Priest will never be a viable class.
Now I know there are more talented people out there who regularly makes legend with Priest. This thread is not about you guys. Besides you guys are minority among the people who are making to legend regularly with other classes. If Blizzard ever considers to publish the statistics then this notion will become much more evident.
Another example of Priest being not being viable is to look at those tournaments & the decks Players are using. How many of them are using priest ? Yeah none. <Mic Drop>
"As a Priest main.." what...have you played 2 games the last 2 years? before this expansion, Shadow,Control and Dragons were all viable types that could go high legend..as of now both control and Z'zoth Priest are more than viable to do the same.
and yes I play Priest
Again look at the statistics, the people are reaching to legend how many of them are using Priest.

Show me the statistics then plz, also..just because most people dont make it there with priest doesnt mean its not viable, jut too slow for laddering all the way up
If it's that effective then why no one is playing it in any kind of tournament?
Funny, all the people that brought Priest to a tournament today were bitching about them getting banned every round. Nobody at the tournament wanted to play against Priests because in a tournament setting, they a actually pretty strong. The ban targets of the day for the event went out to almost every N'Zoth deck be it Priest or Paladin.
On ranked, sure they are underwhelming. But if you are a tournament grinder, Priest is pretty strong.
Priest sees competitive play and play in legend. its a control deck so anyone trying to ladder most likely wont run it because who wants to spend a week grinding to legend with a control deck when you can spend like a day and a half grinding with aggro (cough cough shaman). Is it the strongest class? No, but it is still viable if piloted correctly. early game isnt THAT bad, i mean dragon decks have whats his face the 2-4 taunt and all of them have museum curator. they are really only lacking in the AOE department, and realistically with all the spot removal out there (shadow words and Entomb) plus your Hero power, unless you are absolutely bricking or the oponent opens godly, you shouldnt have to rely on AOE to survive, and if you do it means you are probrably already dead.

that moment when you Yogg-Saron and burn yourself for lethal....
C'thun control priest with Sylvanas and alot of aoe cards has been one of the easiest climbing-decks for me yet in hearthstone, and I never used to play priest
Chakki won the latest tournament (Dreamhack) with priest in the lineup. Also while I did not play much this month, my most played opponent is priest with 21%. So I do not think many people will agree with you.
I've played several hundred (thousands?) of games as priest. There is a slight element of suprise with priest right now as people don't really know what's in your deck. But after it's all said and done, I believe priest is the weakest it has been in my history of playing hearthstone (1.5 yrs). However, is it still viable, yes. Will you crush a lot of opponents, yes. Will you lose several games by turn 5/6, yes. So iIs priest good? That largely depends on your opponent's deck and your draws, more now than ever before.
Priest is weak right now, but I don't think it has anything to do with being given weak cards. It's just, aside from Dragon Priest, there is no early game (Cleric, Museum Curator, and Acolyte are not early game minions...yes you play them early but they don't contest the early board well at all), and unless you draw your removal and don't take too much face damage by turn 4/5, you will lose to decks that flood the early board, and it just so happens that those decks are really popular and strong right now (zoo, retard shaman, and divine paladin).

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
Priest is at the very least viable, if not good. Dragon Priest is a playable deck with solid curve outs and relatively good matchups. You also have Control Priest, C'Thun Priest, and plenty of cards/synergies that can make for hybrid/new decks.
Priest likely has the highest number of bad class cards in the game (Inner Fire, Lightwell, Shadowform, Convert, Shadow Word: Horror, the list goes on), but their good cards are good and their Hero Power is good, and that's all that truly matters.
Yeah, Priest is like 1 powerful card away from being completely broken...you have to look at the game from a holistic perspective.
This is why Ben Brode and Team 5 get to create the game, and all you get to do is be addicted to said game, and cry on forums, because you have no concept of how a game should be balanced.
If you had your way EVERYBODY on the forums would be crying about Priest because we are SO close to being broken and OP. We aren't, but often we can drag games out and destroy the opponent.
If you don't like the playstyle, just choose another class? Doesnt seem like rocket science.
"Can often drag out games" lol what? You have a messed up concept of "often." Priests no longer have early game (resilient) taunts. So yes, if you somehow manage to survive beyond turn 6, you might have a shot at hitting your win condition. Otherwise, what - you throw out a Corrupted Healbot on turn 5 and your opponent just ignores it and goes face for 7 more damage?
edit: While I'm on the subject, what do you guys think about Cyclopian Horror?

Kolento played N'Zoth priest at dreamhack yesterday. Thijs I believe had a priest deck at the World Championship.

Stop crying.
im playing a greedy n'zoth dragon priest and having a blast in standard.
i could give two shits about reaching legend- this is a game and i play it to have fun - not to grind and grind and grind for hours
why does 'how many people hit legend with priest' even matter? people who want to hit legend will tend to do it with faster classes

What does it matter if it's popular or not? If even one priest hits legend with any deck, then there's nothing to cry about.
That's like saying n'zoth paladin is trash tier because you only ran into one in your last 15 games.
Chakki won the latest tournament (Dreamhack) with priest in the lineup. Also while I did not play much this month, my most played opponent is priest with 21%. So I do not think many people will agree with you.

No way priest is uplayable. Can't think of a single season, where priest would be less competitive than, say, shaman or nerfed rouge, or hunter.
Dragon priest was a tier one deck for a few months after tgt, precisely because they added some good early game drops.

I like facing Zoo on the Control Priest decks I play. They don't win very often :)
Well like I said Priest got zero early game and flood decks got even more ability to keep the early board, even after clears. That's the problem.
