I'm not sure the Paladin hero power synergizes all that well in this deck, but Tirion Fordring and Equality are fantastic control cards, so I wanted to try it out. Suggestions are welcome, I think I like the finishers I have set up and am only really questioning twilight drakes at the moment (I seem to run out of hand presence after pyromancer = equality and such) but I'm pretty sure you have to use them so I'm not sure. Lord of the Arena is another possibility, probably the next taunt I'd look at if I felt the deck needed more of them
Ysera is, in my opinion, the best neutral legendary in the game, at least for control strategies. It grants constant advantage, is hard to kill, and each card you draw is just better than what you are able to put in your deck in the first place.
Cairne hasn't tested so well. Originally, he was a good redemption target, but I'm finding I don't like him that much.
I tested this deck out and made some videos, the only thing I would really change is getting rid of the Twilight Drakes for Aldor Peacekeepers, and since I don't have Ysera or Cairne, I'm using Gelbin and Black Knight.
Sylvanas is a good substitude for Cairne as you can also trigger both's deathrattle effects twice. In fact I would go with Cairne + Sylvanas but Ysera is also a great card. Twilight drakes are also puzzle to me it's not a very likely deck to have lots of cards. Paladins usually go for Knife Juggler when they have to fill a space with good minion because it works well with their hero power.
I'm not running a lot of filler creatures which is why I opted against knife juggler, at most its going to hit for 2-3 random damage + a direct attack, I think I can do better with the cards I'm currently using.
I understand the confusion on the drakes, they're just sort of beaters at the time being. I was considering Sylvana, I really want to try Lord of the Arena too
Gelbin is just too much rng for me.
Edit: Testing Sylvanas windrunner, Aldor Peacekeeper, and Lord of the Arena. If I don't like any two I'll cut for gnomish inventors, I like the instant replacement + potential for acting as removal the next turn
Really great to see it in action! I can only test on cockatrice right now, but I have yet to lose with it. I've beaten standard hunter, druid control, druid aggro, warlock control, warlock murloc, shaman control, divine shield paladin (sort of a mirror? He has sunwalker, scarlet crusader, argent squire, lower curve).
Haven't been particularly impressed with Sylvanas yet and I can see the appeal to Black Knight, but I think Sylvanas has more broad application. I actually want to try Nozdormu once I get a beta key, just because if you're capable of thinking ahead on turns quickly it can in short order cause an opponent to mess up.
Lord of the Arena has been fantastic too, and I wish I could run more Lay on Hands but the card is too expensive for more copies at 8 mana
Both are very good, running them sounds similar to what Kungen did yesterday with his mage build in the tournament. The only issue I see with each is that with kodo its random (can be tricky sometimes, especially against decks that will put a bunch of low drops out) and with big game there are just games where it wont have a target. This is okay, I just prefer peacekeeper because it will always be able to somewhat nullify the threats big game would in addition to other things.
I've got a large chunk of time to test today so I'll probably try each a few times
Abomination is a great suggestion, I just played a hunter deck and found myself wishing I had more taunts a lot of the time. It also baits out silences that they hopefully won't have for tirion later.
Regarding redemption, It has been a while since I was able to make it come into play, but I was just playing against a hunter deck that used flare and eaglehorn bow making secrets seem far less appealing. Was a pretty tough matchup, ended 2-2, actually made me kind of want more taunts. Aldor + kodo is a great combo, and I have yet to kill something with big game but being 4 power at 3 mana is actually a really big deal that I first overlooked when I saw the card.
I'm currently not running ysera due to space, and really missing it, but at the same time a 4/12 without taunt was great yesterday against a lot of control but against a quicker deck its more difficult to justify. I'll update with my current list, really helpful suggestions guys. Thanks
I mean, its just really uncomfortable to sit at 10-12 life vs. a hunter deck even when stabilized, similar can be said vs. mages, and anything under 15 is danger against a shaman. "too much" just means sitting at kill range versus a deck, and means that even if you have control of the board they can turn it around in a turn and kill you.
Holy lights have been fantastic, even if you dont get extra value through wild pyromancer I have found to really like them.

Why, specifically, Cairne and Ysera? If you don't mind me asking.

Cairne Bloodhoof is for Redemption I think but Ysera is just for fun I guess:D
Equality is great card with Wild Pyromancer, Consecration and Avenging Wrath. Great board clear options good sir
Let me change your mind

I love black knight for when those druids drop their 8/8 taunt treants.
What's your opinion on a single Big Game Hunter and Stampeding Kodo?

Messing around with the mana curve, the deck is currently "dont take too much damage until turn 4 and you'll win" and I want to smooth that out.
How much damage is "too much" damage?

there's no such thing as too much damage ;)

Yes there is :)
Would you be able to update the deck with where you put those holy lights?
Updated the list with what I was last using
