Like Foe Reaper and Sneed's, he's a fun card. Pretty win more though. It's rare you'll have a blessing of wisdom or a mana tide to back you up. You're better off with Ysera or KT.
The card was just released! They said the same of Dr. Boom, and for now it needs to be tested to see how good it really is. Science must go on.
I've played enough of it to know roughly how good it is. It's decent when you can play it on turn 6, but otherwise, meh. It's not worth it. There are better 8 mana legendaries. I wouldn't put blessing of wisdom in my deck for this one card either. It's too situational.
Unlike Dr. Boom it has no instant value on an empty board. It needs to be combined with another card to pay for itself on the spot, which is a drawback, but it definitely doesn't make it a bad card.
In the situation you described for example, instaed of Chromaggus + BoW, just playing Ysera would have netted you the same value and it's much easier to get a one-card-combo, than two cards + a pre-existing creature.

Chromaggus is a awesome late game minion, since the opponet has to deal with it immediately or risky lost on card advantage on the next turns.
Imho Draw mechanics + Chromaggus ain't that good, specially if you are using a Draw engine like Acolyte of Pain, since its allow your opponent to yolo mill you. For me the sole role of this card is to be a big f%#$ Late game Dragon, however on the OP case its awesome to trigger his effect on the same turn ONCE, more than that going to do more harm then good.
I think you guys misunderstood my comment- I'm not comparing Chromaggus directoy to Dr. Boom! I am merely saying that like Dr. Boom this card may be much better than originally expected. As it looks right now, Ysera seems better in most ways, but we have to test more to know for sure. My message is to test new cards! Just like people Expected Grim Patron to suck while it created an entirely new viable archetype.
I´m astonished that no one here has mentioned it before, but Chromaggus in a Warlock deck gives you ALLWAYS value if played on turn 10. And there are a lot of Warlock decks in which a Chromaggus fits very well.
I personally like Chromaggus, like someone said its out of BGH range, even if it survives a normal turn. You already have value from it, I do think its better in a dragon deck just cause you have that synergy and if your opponent uses a lot of removal on it, just drop your deathwing and cue maniacal laugh.
I think Chromaggus has a similar effect to Sylvanas; your opponent feels an urgent need to do something about him or you get double value of whatever you draw (and if it's a control matchup, that can seal the game), so your opponent may do inefficient things or drop hard removal for this guy while Ysera is sitting in the line-up for the following turn. Like Sylvanas, I don't expect to be able to attack with him or "get his effect" but it makes my opponent do something stupid which is great.
Imagine Sylvanas-->Dr. Balanced-->Chromaggus turn order; that's really hard to deal with properly.
Also, Priest + Power Word: Shield? Same net effect as Ysera for the same cost; I do that a ton and get instant value. Current Dragon Priest decks run high-value minions that require an answer in the mid-game so it's very safe to drop him on curve and if he dies it opens the doors for *insert large 9-mana dragon*.
Great card when you have a deck that can fit him, in the same way that some decks will always run Rag or never run him. It's based on goals, function, and usability.
I've played a dozen games with Chromaggus, got him on the board 3x and haven't drawn an extra card with him yet.
^This. And when he does survive a turn, you've probably already won. It's very situational when you can manage to combo him with cards that draw cards. Mana tide and acolyte of pain are often killed the same turn they are played. You can life tap all game anyway, and you probably don't want to be putting blessing of wisdom into your deck.

I'm constructing amazing dragon paladin decks. used Dragon Consort on turn 6. - Sludge Belcher was turn 5. On Turn 7 I was able to drop a 6 mana Chromaggus and Blessing of Wisdom on my Dragon Consort. The draw from attacking gave me two Piloted Shredder INSTANTLY. He had to kill my consort next turn or GG. I won anyways.
I am playing Chromaggus in shaman, and I have just as much fun with the Mana Tide Totem combo. I absolutely love the card.

Very nice idea. Shaman is my main. I like this, however, I need to drop mana tide much sooner than turn 8 to keep up as shaman =/.

,
You play the Mana Tide Totem the turn before to get 'instant' value.
Chromaggus is 8...
.
He was talking about Mrsunbro's comment. That's 11 mana.
