why not avenging wrath? and seriously decks built around 1 card are always bad. what if you dont draw hobgoblin. youre going to keep playing this junk 1-2 mana minions while your opponent is building a board? from a first glance this auto loses to druid. better play huntard than this
Haha played against a pali running this exact deck in legend a few hours ago. Didn't realize that Savjz created it...Maybe the guy playing it played it wrong but I honestly wasn't that impressed. I've tried Hobgoblin decks before and they're honestly not that impressive. Also when I was playing against it I just felt like there was no real win condition for the deck (yes I get that it's aggro but it just felt really slow)
I actually watched him play this on stream and believe it or not hobgoblin didn't even matter. He won a bunch of games with hob giving him zero value. He had taken out the owl for King Mukla though. Just throwing that out there.
A worse version of the well know Paladin aggro. Just played by a popular streamer.
^ This. There was a stir on Reddit about this deck "becoming a thing" in the meta, no it's not going to become a thing because it's really not so great although it does look fun. Let's be realistic, the HobGobs rarely ever made a difference and could have easily have been just about anything that fit the curve. Your typical hashed over shockadin is still better and even shockadin sucks compared to the other major deck archtypes.
The weird thing is that Paladin aggro, and not only Savj's creation, works better in the legend rank, where people tend to keep away from the Hunter. The worst matchup for such decks are Hunters, Rogues and anything that puts down a number of minions able to contest them for 3 turns (i.e. midrange Paladin).

Bottomline, don't even try to ladder with it.
Just gave it 10 games, 2 were hunter and won both convincingly. I ruled the early game with Coghammer and Squires - and Hobgoblin's bonus was a good counter to Explosive Trap.
I guess I should add, I added Avenging Wrath x2 for an explosive win condition.

Weird. Most of the times, and just as I noticed by following Savjz's stream yesterday, an early Explosive Trap or Mad Scientist, seals the game that very moment. It's unlikely that you will survive either the trap or the Hounds, but since you did it...good for you.

Well you know how fanboys react. How is it possible something like that to create a change in the meta. It's like any other aggressive deck with Divine Favor added in the mix.
I wasn't too impressed with this deck. I played 20 games and went 10-10 at the start of the season yesterday. Maybe it was because I ran into a disproportionate amount of rogues but even random control priests can crush it. I also tried adding blood knight since there's so many divine shields and that didn't improve it that much. One of the main problems is in games where you get all the draw in the hand - it completely handicaps you unless the opponent has loads of cards. The only class it seems to do really well against is Druid since they can't do much once you play out a hobgoblin combo.
