Guys I also tried to make Ctrl-Pally work, but its near impossible if u look at our Boardclear compared to other classes.
Lets take a look at Pally, we have no natural Boardclear. This is one of the Main-Issues beside having no Carddraw which makes things even worse. So we need to draw 2 Cards every Time we want to clear the board, usually this starts happening aroung Turn 5-6 at this Point u drawed in total like what? 8-9 Cards?! Well often it ends in the situation that u missed to draw either Pyro or Equality or ur Consec and so on.
So beside of having one of the worst Boardclears, it also has very few ones. Compare it to the Top 2 Ctrl Classes Priest and Warlock, Each of them has about 6 Boardclears (Priest runs Breath, Nova, Plague and depending on Archetype also Mirror. And Warlok goes with this 1 Mana clear, the 3 Dmg Dragon and if they feel to also Hellfire and Nether).
The conclusion is we just dont have the Cards to make a Ctrl-Pally work. BUT i think pally has the right cards to compete as a semi-competitive Mid-Range Deck. Pally has a lot of rly good 2 drops to be able to fight the Board early on.
It turned out to be somewhat succesfull till now im at a 12-0 Winstreak with this Deck in Dia 8-5, I just play it Midrangey fight for Board and finish them off with our Broken Highlander Cards. It struggles against very aggresive list but thats in the nature of a Midrange Deck but ur doing very well against everthing else.
Just a Side note dont try to play nozdormu as a Ramp-Card we dont have the draw to do so. But an 4 Mana 8/8 dropped on turn 8-10 where the Ramp isnt so important anymore is a huge Temposwing. Also dont try to be greedy on using Dragon Speaker usually having is effet trigger on one Dragon is worth enough to be played on curve if the Board allows to. Also Talritha it is better to play on curve thn to hold the Card back to trigger its effect, its just isnt worth it ur wanna play Curvestone with this Deck its crucial to have a playable 2Drop to fight for Board early on.
There was time for paladin, now it's time for other classes.
I would like to add that paladin has 8th winrate on standard (out of 10 ofc), 3rd on wild and 8th on arenas. (due to HSReplay) so it isn't the worst class. For instance, warrior has a lower position than paladin in all modes) So stop complaining. Thanks in advance.
Last time when paladin was truly dominant...was 2018,witchwood release, even paladin was indeed too strong and GTG (2015) with secret paladin, dont give me a shit "it had its time",then through various metas,it was able to have sometimes tier 2 deck,or wonky OTK in form of shrivallah.
Class just as shaman and warrior is garbage and personally i think it needs rework of basic set just like priest.
introducing suddenly OP cards like in next expansion will feel like temporary fix and most probably will not happen.
This expansion actually gave Pala great support and the libram package isn't weak. The problems are: 1.no good draw mechanic and 2. the year of the dragon was pure trash for pala. So one good exp just isn't enough to make it playable again.
Probably next expansion they will give aoe for low health boards.. thats actually the only problem... and playing only libram pally i managed to ladder to rank 1,one win from legend, three times.ofcourse,i met DH with perfect start and no consacration .. so .. no legend for now.so yes... AOE , and i love the idea with lay on hands, seems totally unplayable atm.the other spell wich gives taunt and divine shield.. well.. that is another great idea.but they dont want to.they want to mix small minions buffs and big super expensive late game stuff in this class..we re unlucky playing for fun,not for meta.
And dont forget the Luck Factor.. wich is decided by Blizzard for some archetipes and classes..and "some" mana curves(SMORC)
