I'm also thinking about running Recombobulator. I got him in an arena run yesterday, and he was simply amazing tbh. My very first recombobulation transformed a 1 health 3 mana minion into an Injured Blademaster (which starts at full health because he misses the battlecry). ;D
So I'm probably a bit biased towards it right now. ;P
(It still has a really good body for it's cost, so there's that.)
Edit: I changed my deck idea around for this and included some more Battlecries that benefit from Recombobulator. Equality happens to combo with him as well.
Jaime, what is that deck supposed to be? It looks like a mish mash of Sword of Justice minion spam and control pally. You should decide what you want to do with the deck, because you can't combine multiple decks into 1 in Hearthstone, at least not yet. You can only make a deck with 1 thought in mind.
I think it may pay to switch out recombobulator, as the only real cards it works well with in this deck is black knight, quater master, and antique healbot. the rest wont give you a much better minion, and often you will get a worse minion
Well, if you're feeling desperate, you could recombob a recruit - maybe he'll become an Argent Squire, or Clockwork Gnome, or Goldshire Footman. He could just turn into another 1/1, but then what have you lost, really? It can also work as a "heal". Sylvanas will get silenced, and if she isn't immediately dealt with, maybe she'll become a Sunwalker (or another Sylvanas). He will be most useful in a dedicated battlecry sort of deck, but I think he's fun enough.
I think Recombulator could mostly be a too late Card. For example i mostly play tirion to switch the game to my side. If the opponent silences him theres just a chance to make a good trade and recomb a 6/1 tirion. still only small board win for me..i really am not that sure
I'm not really sure this will prove to be even decent; but i personally think that paladin has the tools to survive the super late game against a lot of classes. So i tried to build a deck that's late game oriented, but i do not think this is the best late game paladin.
Why is there a Lil' Exorcist in this deck ? And there are a lot of single cards in this deck. The chance of ever drawing the right one is getting very small. The Muster for Battle + Quartermaster looks like a very good combo. And I would at least run 2 of each in the deck.
Try getting out of the idea of 'paladin being a control class', and go mid-range with Tirion, Lay on Hands and Guardian of Kings as 7+ drops. You'll surprise yourself.
Btw, i predict muster for battle and quartermaster to be pretty bad in constructed.
Here's how I look at it... my control decks tend to run x1 Kodo. Quartermaster is essentially the same body, and the same mana, but will probably be better than Kodo on average. So I'll be running at least x1. Kodo is a combo card for Paladin most of the time and requires at least 6 mana and at most 8 for a hard removal, and I'm more likely to have a Recruit or be able to make one on a topdeck than be holding an Aldor (I don't see Humility being ran with so many good additions).
There's plenty of games right now where I wish I could Muster, so I'd like to try that, too.
Quartermaster might annoy your opponent a bit, but it will always bring lower value than other 5 drops like Sludge Belcher or Spectral Knight. It's only good if you're running Muster for Battle which beside having great value on paper it also blows your deck's strategy
I think both are cards only worth in a Bolvar-around deck, which would be already a pretty weak one
Kodo is hard removal for a random 2 drop. He needs to be combo'd with an Aldor. He also probably can't be played on curve if you are using him as hard removal.
If Quartermaster buffs 2 recruits, he's insane value. If he buffs 1, he's pretty good. We don't know how he'll be in constructed yet, but I'm willing to try him in practice instead of just writing him off.
Priest (Bad matchup): Northshire cleric, zombie chow Warrior: Acolyte of pain and armorsmith doesn't get any value at all, cruel taskmaster Shaman: Anything on the board, which means kodo will often trade 2-1, 3-1 and sometimes even 4-1 (minions and tokens, not cards) Hunter: Tokens of all kinds, makes you get value from freezing trap Zoolock: Takes out 4 dmg of the board by killing dire wolf alpha, opens way to clearing by killing voidwalker Mage: mad alchemist, unbuffed mana wyrms and undertakers, doomsayers* Druid: Keeper of the grove, tokens
Quartermaster value with 3 recruits considering the enemy didnt killed them before turn 5 (which is very, VERY unlikely)
Priest: Kills 2-1 a zombie chow, 3-1 Auchenai Soulpriest or Cabal Shadowpriest, 4-1 Sludge Belcher and Injured Blademaster, not even mentioning that if it gets Caballed' the priest will get insane value from a minion with considerable health Warrior: 2-1 Armorsmith (Not bad, but could be better), 2-1 Acolyte (Bad), will never bait weapon charges since Death's Bite will rekt it Shaman: Will get value most of the time, but trades 2-1 for each feral spirit (really bad). Quartermaster will likely get silenced or bait a lightning storm if you have alot of tokens. Still worse than Kodo. Hunter: If he's going face and you're only using hero power, by turn 5 you pretty much lost 80% of the time Zoolock: Will never get value, 2 atk doesn't trade with almost anything and this deck relies on board control Mage: Flamestrike, Blizzard, Cone of Cold, Frost nova/Doomsayer... Might trade with some taunts but won't do better than that Druid: Forget your hero power, the only reason you use it in this matchup is because you have nothing better do play and it prevents him from attacking full face all the time
It's easy to know when a card is going to change the meta and other one doesn't. You take minions from the same mana cost and compare them. When I saw Quartermaster i found the design interesting but the 5-mana cost and it's poor body (It's worse than a Sen'jin) makes it a REALLY, REALLY bad card. Your tokens will never survive unless you're in fatigue, and Paladin is boss in fatigue wars. You'll end up throwing away a precious Sludge Belcher or Kodo to have this poorly designed piece of crap.
Look mate, i'm not telling you that i'm right, i'm the boss and you should obey me. I'm just warning you. Crafting a 400-dust epic card that won't do you anything good will make you regret. Think about it.
