So I am curious about everyone's thoughts on what Paladin needs in the next rotation to become a strong competitive class. Currently, compared to most of the meta decks, Paladin has been struggling and when I play against other classes, I always feel their cards always have more impact during the game.
Personally, I hope for some more control and removal options. Also another card or two to really help solidify Dragon, Highlander, and Pure Paladin would be fantastic.
Opinions? What do folks want from the next set once we get our big rotation. I am still trying to pilot Dragon Paladin Highlander but only been get to rank 4-5.
Control paladin has needed a win condition forever. It really depends on what kind of paladin you're talking about. After paladins get their new reborn mech, mech paladin will be very close if not there.
Control paladin (not the otk crap) really, really needs a wincon. Likely the easiest thing to do is just give them a big hero card with a wincon-esq hero power. Kinda like Jaina or rexxar dks. The tools are there, the way to win is not. Also, equality could probably stand to go to 3 mana. I mean hell, hunters just got an equality that only applies to enemy minions AND comes on a 7/6 body, for just two more mana. I get that it's a legendary, but still.
Paladins got a huge dragon that "Reno's" both heroes, but then what? It would actually be a decent card if paladin could do anything other than develop slow minions.
As for aggro paladins, people hate them. People always rage when fast paladin decks are good, and I don't really get it. Dragon paladin got an abysmal breath to boot. Dragon pally might have actually been something, but their breath AND class discover dragon are much worse than the others. Like I don't even understand why the breath was made so bad by comparison. Dragons are generally slow, midrange-control decks, and they get a breath that is only good in fast decks.
All that being said, priest is due for a rework far more than anything. Rez priest is fine, but it's outdated and priests really need a direction. Blizzard NEVER prints cards that synergize with their thief theme, and healing is just meh. I've been waiting for shadowform support for years as well, but to no avail.
Paladin is position three in the meta according to hsreplay, with mech Paladin (which doesn't surprise me as that deck can be brutal to play against). Seems fine to me.
imo heal paladin is a heavily underrated deck that can dominate in the current meta
What is underrated about it? Healing is very mediocre, and now that galakrond warrior is falling, face hunter is the only deck left that you're going to be beating regularly.

i hard counter embiggen druid with the amount of removals and heals its not a problem

Lol what? What rank are you? And what removals are you talking about? Equality and shrink ray? Embiggen literally need not play more than 1-2 minions per turn to apply major pressure, and they definitely don't care about healing because it is a tempo deck.

Agree. Top tier decks nowadays need to either be very fast or they need some ridiculous mana-cheating supermove. Paladin doesn't have the supermove that most other classes have.

as soon as you ask about my rank i immediately feel like not wasting time talking with you.

It wasn't an insult, I'm asking because at lower ranks where the players don't play around stuff, things that otherwise wouldn't work, do work.
Those Embiggen players might way over extend on board, and then of course your equalities and what not destroy them. So that's why I asked, because it can be played around easily if you know what you're doing.

typical reaction of a person who sits at rank 10+ but wants to make a statement about the competitiveness of decks. U talking about heal pally hardcountering embiggen druid but yet dont want to talk at which rank u are? how inscure are u? ofc its relevant at which rank u hardcounter embiggen druid. So if u want to make a statement about a deck its relevant to know at which rank u are to know if it is bullshit or not, because if u want it or not nobody cares about a rnd dude hardcountering druids at level 13. beside that point the dude ur responding to had some valuable arguments (heal doesnt matter if they can get a board that kills u from 30 and 4 boardclears against a deck that needs at max 2-3 minion to put so much pressure on u isnt enough) so why dont u argue about those point instead of acting like a whinery kid because he asks u what rank u are.

This exactly. Anyone could come on the forum and say "my beast mage beats it 100% of the time" and then get mad when asked about it. Yeah, if you're rank 18 I'm sure those playing ANYTHING just net decked but have no actual idea of how to play.
Paladin needs draw. Divine Favor was too strong, but they need something to replace it. If mech paladin had a draw mechanic, it would be lower T1.
I feel like I'm missing something. Isn't Mech Paladin tier 1 already? Also, doesn't it have Crystology already?
It does, but from playing it various times at ranks 5 through 1 (legend still eludes me!), it runs out of gas way too fast. I've experienced this both when I play it and when I face it.
Mech Paladin is currently lower T2 according to Tempstorm. It looks much better according to HS Replay, and it is without a doubt the best Paladin deck right now.

Ah, I was checking HSreplay and Vicious Syndicate. It does run out of gas fast, but I think it could become too oppressive if it didn't.
I don't see Blizzard giving paladin more card draw anytime soon tbh, Crystology is busted and I doubt they'll put something on top of that. If anything, they could give some value generation (like Chopshop Copter).
Sidenote: I just checked the stats on crystology (in mech paladin) and it's has the highest mulligan, drawn and played winrate in the deck lmfao, I've never seen anything like that.

Yeah Crystology is awesome in and of itself. When I play mech Pally, it feels like you are spending all of your resources to down the opponent's big threats, and never really get to build up your own board the way you'd want. Hence the running out of gas comment I made earlier.

Perhaps it's only a problem if you want to play Paladin as a control class.

Crystology is arguably the best card draw in entire game (including wild), it's the only thing that make this mech paladin barely playable.
