I'm a big fan of playing control played a fair bit of control mage before this expansion hit and played control paladin quite awhile ago.
So now I'd like to see if we can brainstorm up a decklist that could be competitive and controly.
I have quite a few legendaries. Have valaynr Tarim, tiroion, prince liam, paladin deathknight and the new legendary spell . Also for neutrals prince kelseth Lich King. Alactraza the new legendary mech.
I'm also interested in creating a control pally deck but the issue is even if the deck can deal with aggro what card can we put in it so that it will also beat combo decks and togwaggle druid?
Is it possible to add the hero power otk set into this deck
I don't think many people are playing control paladin as a viable conpetitive deck. It has great sustain, but the win condition is a bit weak, even with the legendary spell. I see people experimenting with it in casual and it looks very fun. Maybe in a few weeks once people get the hang of mechs we might see it be more prominent, but for now if you want a competitively viable deck that can get consistent results, you will want to play something aggro or just play druid.
I had an idea to use use mech control that utilized only mag mechs. Eggs and cubes. Problem i see is a lack of focused board clear which a lot of decks do better. Necro can Run aggro and have direct board clear same with mage. Pally just lacks it.
I've been trying just about everything the first couple of days and I've failed hard. It's just hard to generate a whole lot of value in standard right now, and most of the new cards aren't geared towards it. I do think Crystology is a great card that could breath some life into it, though. Really efficient way to get your Stonehill Defenders, Crystalsmith Kangor, or Righteous Protectors into hand and thin out your deck to start drawing better cards.
Unfortunately it doesn't have a win condition, though, and many of the combos are difficult to disrupt right now. And even against aggro or midrange... Can you ever have enough removal? Then you've got cards like Deathstalker Rexxar that mean even an aggressive deck can grind you down eventually.
I'd love for it to be viable, though. Keep us posted if you come up with anything!
I had the same thought as you, trying to use the egg as my win condition. it Just didn’t seem viable, though. Hunter has several ways to trigger theirs early. Priest can resurrect theirs and generate a constant stream of pressure. I just felt like Paladin doesn’t have enough ways to take advantage of it, and since it comes out on turn 5 at the earliest it’s even slower than the other decks.
Control Paladin won't work because the Equality/Pyro/Consecrate combos don't work with such a deathrattle heavy meta where decks like Zoo can refill and make another powerful board.
I've been playing around with a control mecha'tun pala, where you revive him and 2 missile launchers and play equality, it's a wincondition i guess, i have a deck on my profile but it needs serious work..
Here's a top 200 control pally deck from China, the basic strategy is to drop eggs on the field then play control and make huge come back while you clear the board with either Equality/ShrinkRay, you can probably switch 1 Devilsaur Egg/ Nerubian/Tirion out if you want a better early game, but doing so will drop your win rate agains other control/otk. Just a reminder, this is one hard deck to pilot, have fun.
I used this to reach Rank 10 this season, and its still doing okay. This deck has 3 win conditions: 1.) Stall out your opponent and win with AOE and minions. (Good against aggro) 2.) Hit your weapon to the enemy hero. (You have to think carefully if you'll need the weapon charge or not, and I only advise this against high value decks like combo druid, and Frost Lich Mage) Note: You can deal 46 damage with just the weapons provided in the deck, excluding the possibility of a Frostmourne or more Tirion Fordrings from Stonehill Defender. 3.) If you have Uther of the Ebon Blade up, you can kill your opponent with the auto-win of the 4 horsemen (Assuming you have 2 already, then power and use Blackwald Pixie for another horsemen. Don't rely on this too much though as it is very unlikely, especially when your opponent has their Hero card active.)

No one has any input?
I would, but I can't really see your deck. Can you link your deck using ; [tdeck]Deck ID or Code[t/deck] (Remove the t)

Until control pally gets a win condition, it won't be playable.

Not sure If it's any good I was doing ok in casual games but not so good in ranked even at 17

Ive been using Void Ripper as my finisher in mech control paladin, but yeah I have the same problem.
I can beat aggro or combo, but having trouble making a deck that can do well vs both.
Paladin is my favorite class just tired of playing odd pally gets pretty boring
I thought of trying to put an even deck together but all the good mech. Cards are odd aswel as the endless army spell

edit*: Officially a top 100 control pally in US server too

My deck is undefeated right now and i just released it today.
Control and OTK :D
You'll get to enjoy the new cards also.
Sadly I don't have vorax or lynessa
