I've played HS for years but always on Mac and phone. I don't track any deck/win stats despite winning thousands of ranked matches; I know, I should get with the program...
With that said, after the patch Even Paladin aggro obviously went away fast. I was determined to find a way to make Even Pally work again. This deck is not listed/used anywhere else as far as I know. I don't have specific % but I've spent weeks tuning and it is now effective on ladder. The best part is it's a fun new way to play Paladin in Even form. Check it out and I hope you'll enjoy!
It's essentially a control deck ideally drawing Prince Keleseth early to buff mainly 4-cost minions with powerful late game options. The extra +1/1 can easily put the opponent on the ropes.
Witchwood pipers help to draw Prince quicker. Weapons, taunts, consecrations, avenging wraths, and 2 silences help stabilize the mid-game or go face. Val'anyr, Corpsetakers, windfury harpies, charges/lifesteals, Lich King, Tirion, plus a Dinosize work to create a very powerful late game that many classes will struggle to counter.
The best win-state is often coining into corpsetaker on turn 3 + blessing of kings turn 4 which is brutal without a counter. 1 minion does 14 damage on turn 5. Late game, getting a windfury minion into attack can buff Dinosize and do 20 in a turn. A stray silverhand can quickly turn 5/5 or 10/10. Chillblade champions can be buffed to 8/7. There are many win conditions which are often pushed forward with various weapons.
The weakness is clearly that it starts slow without Prince in-hand but it can still easily win even if played late. Consecration and chain gangs are some of the ways to stay afloat until other cards start hitting.
Even Prince Paladin is very effective against priest, rogue, secret hunter, big spell mage, token druid, and warrior. It's not as good vs. zoo lock, shudder shaman, and especially odd paladin. Taunt druid and recruit hunter is very dependent on good card draws to be more aggro.
I hope this deck can benefit people looking for something new until Boomsday. I don't know if you'll hit legend with it, but I know it's very competitive and your opponent won't even know what you're doing ^_^
Don't have kele or glass knight, would definitely try if I did. I can see how zoo and odd pally can be a problem, especially if you can't play anything til turn 4
Did you... realize you don't have anything to play on turns 1-3 if you don't draw prince? and even then your turn 3 is.. hero power, float 2 mana.
I don't think it's worth it to float mana all early game for a benefit that's much better when you actually have low cost cards.. giving +1/+1 to a minion is more effective the lower your curve is(zoo/shudderwock shaman), and the more you can actually cheat stuff(recruit hunter)
At which ranks were you palying I really doubt a deck where you skip early turns and don't play a 8/8 on turn 3 as a payoff is worth it.
Paladin got too many good 2 cost cards to pass off.. how are you gonna clear any board without equality/pyro?
I am playing Rank 10-8 exclusively with this deck. I know it's not great but I haven't had the time to grind too much either.
Aggro is definitely the weak spot but you'd be surprised that the silverhands are -just- enough in early turns on other matches. If you aren't run over, the game can quickly stabilizes and start to flip. Massive healing and big damage can turn the tide before the opponent adjusts.
The +1/1 buff on so many threats (divine shield and/or windfury minions) is often worth the face damage taken in the first few turns. Even against odd paladin or zoo lock, having good draw with consecration, weapons, and taunts/heals can work surprisingly well.
I am by no means an expert deck builder but this deck throws a lot of good players off guard.
Update: I changed out 1 Avenging Wrath for Primordial Drake. Finally had time to grind on Sunday and got it from Rank 10 to Rank 4 in one sitting.
Here is just one example where early Prince, coin to Corpsetaker, and Blessing of Kings combo is absolutely devastating. Fatal vs. Taunt Druid on turn 6.
