After floating around between ranks 10 and 6 this season, I'm preparing to try and secure my golden epic with even paladin before the nerfs hit.
However, I'm missing Val'anyr, and don't dare craft it as I'm a miserly f2p player, and expect even paladin's performance to go down after nerfs.
Val'anyr seems to be a key component of current even paladin decks. Is Silver Sword a strong enough replacement? Should I be considering something else? Any recent decklists performing well without Val'anyr?
How about Tirion instead? You play Val'anyr mostly for the hugh value, it can provide you. Tirion is a little bit slow at the moment, but is still a hugh value card too - and you replace a weapon with a minion, which gives you a weapon (if not silenced).
Another value card instead of Val'anyr could be the Lich King. More offensive power, more potential card draw but (if not silenced) a less save value outcome in comparison to Tirion (Ashbringer is better than most of the Lich King cards in my opinion).
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
I don't have Tirion either. But that said, Tirion would be a safe craft. However, I only have ~1600 dust right now, and might want to save that for post-nerf surprises.
Is Val'anyr actually even necessary in that deck? Me thinks it's a little bit too slow.
I also thought Silver Sword was so good that it wins games by itself. Either way, I'M pretty sure Even pally is so strong as of now that not running one of its niche cards shouldn't matter all that much
If you doesn't have anything else Silver Sword is not a bad choice. The problem with this card is, that there are a lot of weapon removals played at the moment. And if your sword gets destroyed after one swing, it is a pretty weak card (if you didn't use it to finish the game). Sure Truesilver can be removed by removals too, but for 4 Mana it provides a much lower risk. With Tirion you still had your 6/6 to beginn with.
But just test Silver Sword for the moment, is not a bad choice and see how often you run into weapon removals or not. Then decide, if you will keep it or think about an alternative card again.

I reviewed several deck lists, and came up with a list of things to try. I'm going with Dinosize for the moment, and the list below. I'm actually at rank 10 at the moment, and the meta there is kind of weird (running into Hadronox Druid, Quest/Taunt/Rush Warrior, Odd Rogue, Hunter and other niche decks significantly more than staple decks like Even Paladin, Cube/Control Lock, Spiteful Druid), so I'm more focused on climbing out of that mess into something more predictable before I evaluate build choices.
Val'anyr is a really strong card in this deck. Must have imo and especially strong with saronite chain gang or argen commander. I think it will also be viable in the future and is fun to play. So yea, I would craft it

Thanks for any constructive feedback.

Decklists I'm looking at already run Lich King.
Thanks for the prompt feedback regardless!

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

Val'anyr is a good card, not necasery however, Tirion, or Lich King also works fine.
