Last month I climbed rank 5 with an Odd Paladin deck I put together and was still seeing over 60% win rate as late as April 28th, when I stopped playing for a couple days.
Last 3 days, that same Odd Paladin deck is getting beaten left and right, and not just by even paladin, basically by everyone except hunter. Started new season as rank 9, dropped down to 10 without a single victory. Even in casual, I've been seeing about 40% win rate. I understand that it's no longer top-tier deck, but I have never seen my previous decks become so bad so quickly without any cards rotating. According to hsreplay, the deck is still enjoying 55%+ win rate, but I do see that they average in data from the last 2 weeks as well so I don't know how accurate it is.
Is the deck no longer playable, or is it just a bad streak (or I've been playing very poorly this week)?
I'll explain it to you. When a single deck is dominating the meta, people do something called "teching," which is just a fancy word for using specific cards that "counter" a certain deck. An example of this would be using Hungry Crab when there are a lot of Murloc Paladins on ladder. Even though Hungry Crab isn't very good by itself, it becomes great when you are facing a Murloc deck.
Sometimes, you can even use an entire deck archetype which is good against whatever you're encountering on the ladder. This is called "countering the meta" or "planning the meta." So if your deck (which was a very common one, and a very powerful one) becomes something people encounter frequently, what they do is use their knowledge of the game and its resources to make decks that do well against your deck so they're not taking losses left and right. Pretty crazy, huh?
I hope this helps you to understand why your amazing Odd Paladin isn't doing so well any more. Cheers.
I understand that people are teching against it, but I'd expect a more gradual decline, not an overnight one. I also don't understand why people are still teching against this deck when there are more powerful ones (Even Paladin, Cubelock, Spiteful Druid) and when this deck is already losing popularity. With that said, your explanation does make sense, and hopefully the deck does recover a bit when people find new things to tech against.
I've always thought odd paladin was very "meh", especially when compared to even paladin (much harder to counter).
Sometimes I'm tempted to pay the premium at hsreplay haha, just so I can see win rates at exact ranks (I'm kinda a nerd so I enjoy just looking at stats like that, and checking how I compare to it). I think odd paladin crushes lower ranks where people don't know how long to hold on to their board clears and whatnot, but as you get to higher ranks, people know how long they can wait, and they also know it's hard for an odd paladin to take off if you can keep the board on your side. That's why, with my miracle rogue, I'm sooo much happier to see an odd paladin compared to an even paladin.
Anyways, you could stick with it. It's still a decently built deck. It's just not as strong as people think, and I've always found it overrated.

probably because most decks were in the experimental stage last month, in which odd paladin was really good at beating, but the meta has settled by a lot at this point so people have more optimized lists and ones that are more suited for fighting against these popular decks.
I used to play a very off meta version of odd paladin that I made up by myself... Managed to climb to rank 16 with it... Well apparently now it has become a lot better since I got my win rate up from 56% to 76% :/ I quit playing it tho because it got boring so now I'm playing odd rogue and steal priest + sometimes odd quest warrior

I'm not a fan of aggro decks, but played Odd paladin this season with a personal record of 13-1 from rank 8 to 5. Now, in rank 5, I cant even achieve 3 stars. Its basically one win, one loss. Maybe it's time to go back to my Vivid Velen of Elemental Mage.

Do you understand how the meta works?

zmauls summed it up. People started teching against it, and rightly so.
The easiest way to beat the meta is to target the most common deck, which is usually the one that is winning the most.
