I have been playing paladin extensively for past two seasons. Unidentified Maul is pretty good in dude paladin and murloc paladin, but its power is fluctuating since the effects such as divine shield is game winning whereas taunt has little to no use in these decks. My problem is that I feel like I am never getting the divine shield effect. I know there are hundreds of "tinfoil hat" threads here and I know its just bad luck but I am curious what is your experience.
Also Rallying Blade is used interchangeably with maul. Which one is performing better in your opinion?
Part of why Maul was playable was because there were a number of 2-health minions in decks like Aggro Paladin. That is less of the case now. Maybe if Dude Paladin continues to pick up steam.
Maybe its just me, but I like the high-roll potential. With Dude, Paladin, the recruits are decent as well, so only 1 of four outcomes are really uesless. I'm usually ok with that, but it does suck to have one out with a voidlord or cleric on board.
Blade is slightly better....first of Stats and the second is, since steward of darkshire, Argent squire and -defender are used card in the deck you have some great synergy with those cards. Steward into stand against darkness into blade is an awesome move, even though it is tricky to pull off.
3 health compared to 2 makes all the difference in the world early game. Unidentified Maul is very much a win more card compared to Rallying Blade. You already have divine shield synergy with your squires and defenders to boot, but even without that synergy I would still argue Rallying Blade gives more overall tempo in the end.

Rallying Blade is a stable card that removes annoying 3 health one drops. It's great.
I agree the maul is hard to assess, since it can be game ending or almost useless.

I never get divine, but opponents always do.... just bad luck for me too.

Rallying blade. Unidentified maul is a highroll card.
