Let me preface this rant by saying Paladin is all I play, I just hit 2000 ranked wins with the class and I've been playing since Pre-Nax. Having said this I can say for certain that it is the worst class in Hearthstone, and has been for way too long, not in terms of viability but in terms of fun even during the rare times it is playable
I'm so sick and tired of paladin not having either removal outside equality or a viable late game value-generating effect, and NO the new legendary weapon isn't nearly as good as other classes value effects. The class is unplayable as a control deck and a bad murloc agro deck after the nerf to Warleader, it's like Blizzard doesn't even listen to its players.
Bad early game? Don't worry here's a 2 mana 2! "Um blizzard we need more for Paladin early game can we mayyyyyybbbeee get shielded minibot bac-" DID SOMEONE SAY 2 MANA 1/1 Diregultch Jailor?!. Oh btw we're giving every other class better late game and board clears then you but its ok because you have suuuuuucccchhhhh good legendaries they'll make up the difference.
I have come to the conclusion that not a single person at Blizzard plays Paladin. Because they make the class teir two/three, but not just teir two/three, but unfun teir two/three as well. The class is boring. Theres no random Lyra the Sunshard effects to spice up play, no (anywhere close to viable) OTK like mage, nothing to make any game different from the last. You do decent if you curve well, and thats it. Secret paladin was a boring curve deck, murloc paladin was a boring curve deck.....annnnd thats all the paladin decks that were ever viable. Midrange paladin was a masterpeice of a deck by blizzard, and it was the most fun I've ever had with the class and probably in the game. The quest was bull, the DK was too slow, and now we're stuck as a class with great and interesting legendaries with no support for them.
My recommendation? 2 cards:
2 mana spell, give a friendly minion divine shield or deal 3 damage to an enemy minion
5 mana 4/7 dragon, Taunt, only you can target this minion with spells and hero powers.
Of course, these cards are broken and overpowered, but then again look at Raza with Shadowreaper, the mage quest, or hey JADE ANYTHING. Blizzard needs to stop pushing stupid, bad, and uninteresting themes down Paladin players throats, like healing or recruit cards. The best decks kill you before you can heal, there are so many board clears in the game that your 1/1 recruits die instantly, and there are enough silence /removal cards to make it so buffs are 100% useless. For gods sake people are cutting spikeridged steed in decks and you give us Lynessa Sunsorrow?! Do you even play your own game blizzard?!
It's sad to see my favorite class hit rock bottom from the downwards slope its been riding since GVG, but here we are, the worst paladin meta ever. I'll see you all next expansion with crossed fingers.
And no, I'm not being pessimistic about the new meta, I'm being realistic. Whatever comes out on top, it will beat paladin, because EVERYTHING beats Paladin now.
The only thing suck is Control Paladin, aggro and mudrange or handbuff are very strong right how. It sux for us control lover because COntrol Paladin and Control Warrior still doesnt have a clear wincon or card draw engine, make it very sad to play.
Wild is the answer! Finds some old/ new inputs for a great old school midrange Pala deck end enjoy! Made this Dragoon- Pala feat. Master Oakheart - Try it out!
Exodia Paladin in wild. It is different, fun, and if you put it together right you just win. All you need is the death knight. Plenty of board control cards. Throw in some draw. And of course the good Emperor to reduce the cost of Beardo to 2, and 3 spare parts to 0. Play Beardo. Make a horseman. Play a spare part. Make a horseman. Play a spell part. Make a horseman. Play a spell part. Make a horseman. GG
I would say rogue is closer to rock bottom than paladin is. Actually I think its the worst class in this expansion
Worst class is definitely Shaman. Miracle Rogue is going to be High Tier 2 to Low Tier 1 and Tempo Rogue is going to be mid to low Tier 2. Shaman right now is like Tier 3.
Aggro paladin is strong, but aggro gets old fast, and paladins control decks have been rubbish for really long, DK Uther was just overhyped trash and should of been 7 mana to make control paladin viable again
Paladin need more interesting spells that interact with the board that are not just pyro equality and require a activator
Paladin, seems amazing in the first 2 days of the new expansion. Aggro is really strong, Murloc is really strong, and there are variants with slower decks that can work. Aggro is popular because it just destroys unrefined decks during the first days, so you can't really tell anything about the shape of the meta.
Obviously the problem is not in Paladin, the problem is with the OP. Also 2000 wins with a class tells nothing other than playing lots of games. And that's something that almost everyone can do. So, starting your post with that shows enough already.
I just joined this post..
However ending your post with that? That shows even more.
Trust me when I say, OP is right. In WoW, people would walk by me and whisper, "Is that the famed FOLLOWER OF THE LIGHT?" I would turn and tell them, "I heard that btw". They would reply, "Forgive us your lightness, it's just that townsfolk around here say you are the one true paladin, even above Tyrone". I smiled and said, "Youare wrong, that was ages ago". They look at me in disbelief. "That is right!", I retort. "I have disenchanted my entire paladin collection following the recent expansion because I'M SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF LOADING INTO EVERY GAME, HAVING A PRIEST SAY, "Greetings", then WIPE THE FLOOR WITH ME WITH MY OWN DECK. WHY IS PRIEST ALLOWED TO PLAY MY RAGNAROS LIGHTLORD 3 TIMES. WHY IS HE ALSO ALLOWED TO PLAY MY DK AND MY SPIKERIDGED. SORRY BOYS, BUT THE OP IS RIGHT, THERE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A VIABLE COMPETITIVE VARIANT OF PALADIN FOR AS LONG AS THE BANE OF VARIAN WRYNN'S SON SHALL FOREVER DWELL ON THIS MIGHTY EARTH".
The two merely chuckled at me and said, "you salty bro"?

I find it funny when people come here disagreeing, obviously they are not paladin main and only play murlocadin to climb the ladder.
I have 1300+ wins with paladin, and my second most played class is druid (700 wins).
I totally agree with what you said, paladin is a joke. The only moment it had a competitive deck was after un'goro's release, a control paladin.
That comment is so logically self-inconsistent I'm having difficulty typing a good reply to it.
People have high win rates with Murloc Paladin. It's a competitive deck. How do you draw the conclusion from that that its players are non-Paladin mains, and how does that imply the deck can't be considered competitive?

Do you know nothing? Having 2,000 wins with a class obviously says way more than just "he played many games" ROFL. It also says that he understands the class really well, it's strengths and weaknesses and also that he loves the class allot. hmm but I guess you'd have to have supernatural deductive skills to understand that rofl.
No matter how much experience someone has, argumentum ad verecundiam is a logical fallacy and can not be used to deny a fact, such as that Paladin not only has viable decks but has the best deck in the Wild meta, and that deck is also probably one that has survived the longest of the current existing decks.
I'm having a lot of fun with Quest Paladin. Sure it sucks to get silenced or your minion you put a lot into. But often time if you get to the late game, very few decks can deal with multiple Galvadons or Lynessas. Here's my current list.
2 Adaptation 2 Blessing of Wisdom 2 Divine Strength 2 Righteous Protector 1 The Last Kaleidosaur 1 Desperate Stand 2 Equality 1 Potion of Heroism 2 Primalfin Champion 2 Wild Pyromancer 2 Aldor Peacekeeper 1 Wickerflame Burnbristle 1 Zola the Gorgon 2 Blessing of Kings 1 Consecration 1 The Voraxx 2 Spikeridged Steed 1 Sunkeeper Tarim 1 Lynessa Sunsorrow 1 Tirion Fordring
I'm debating on cutting something to add in Dire Mole or Firefly. I really want a tougher creature on T1 more often than not. Getting to 10 mana gives you so many great tempo plays. Lynessa + Zola, Voraxx+ Spikeridged, Tirion + Desperate Stand. The more I play the deck, the more I love Zola. Zola is has allowed some pretty crazy turns.
I have always been a fan of Paladin, played since Hearthstone was released in beta. And I fully agree with @SirRandsborg
Your deck that your showing has 7! legendary's. A few of those are core to almost any paladin deck. Im currently climbing the ranks with a budget Secret Mage that only has one legendary, Lich King. And I bet you that this deck could put of a fight against yours.
So I think OP is correct in what he is saying. Because the only way a pally deck is going to be kick ass is with a generous amount of legendary's. They are a fun deck that full of some great combos at time, like the quest deck. But not enough to break through the ranks with continuous wins. And it all comes down to the cards drawn.
Wild makes things a bit easier, but then your never going to get decks as good as something like the infinite fireball mage. Them loses will always leave you felling pissed of when the end your win streak.

Paladin is plenty strong, but I am less than thrilled at how much of their strength is focused into their legendaries. It makes their consistency go all over the place. Unless of course you're playing some kind of aggro paladin or something with murlocs.

Look at this thing and let me know what you think!
No matter how much experience someone has, argumentum ad verecundiam is a logical fallacy and can not be used to deny a fact, such as that Paladin not only has viable decks but has the best deck in the Wild meta, and that deck is also probably one that has survived the longest of the current existing decks.
This focus by some people on "Wild has viable Paladin decks" is completely misleading and off-topic on a forum that says "STANDARD" stamped on it.
I agree Paladin has a viable deck right now in Murloc mostly but I would suppose many people who like the flavour of the Paladin class (noble people in shining armour, protector etc etc) feel that being pidgeonholed into playing Murlocs feels deeply unsatisfactory.
Also, I agree - a lot of the weaknesses in Paladin are addressed by 1-of Legendaries (Lynessa - buffs being removed being anti-tempo, Tarim - weakness against big minions, Burnbristle - early game).
I love paladin but hate murlocs. Have nearly 1000 wins with it, but refuse to play any kind of murlocadin. Yes without this the class feels very weak right now.
I've mained paladin for a very long time and in my opinion it's in an okay spot right now. I've been having success so far with handbuff, murloc is pretty powerful, and I think there could be a viable control deck depending on how the meta shifts in the next few weeks. We also aren't even a week deep into the expansion, so maybe wait a bit more before calling Paladin the worst class.
Near 1000 wins here as well, and I'm super happy with where paladin is at. Sure the new stuff could be stronger, but the weapon is playable, and I expect Lynessa/Galvadon to get better as the expansions roll on. That said, the Spiteful Summoner, Dinosize, Murloc deck is really good and fun to play so I don't see what there is to complain about.
The aggro paladin with Call to Arms, is a tier 1 deck that is, right now, the perfect ladder choice. Fast, plays around clears and can snowball if unanswered. Now, if people just like a specific deck type for Paladin, because they prefer it for personal reasons, that's completely different thing. Midrange and Control Paladin aren't hot right now. Aggo is where the hotness is, and Paladin is up there.

I just got done watching Amnesiac play Control Paladin at Rank 1 Legend so no, Paladin is not at the bottom.
