The most Midrange Palas I see in Standard at the moment are running 1 or 2 Primordial Drake. I see the upsides of this card, especially that it's drawn by Curator. But I don't really like this drake, because it damages your own board.
Because of this, I ask myself, why no Midrange Palas are running 1 or 2 big legendary Drakes.
Why no Alexstrasza for a potential second minion with heal (beside Rag) - or for some extra damage against the enemy hero to kill him quicker?
Why no Deathwing for a easier board clear (no combo with equality necesarry)? Often enough Midrange Pala seems to run out of cards, if the game last longer, so Deathwing whouldn't discard much.
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
Actually, they often run either a Primordial Drake or Deathwing. I don't know why they wouldn't, either. But most of the Murloc Pallys right now are aggro.
Equality + Primordial Drake is too good to look at anything else...imo anything else and ur paying more mana for the same thing (or worse effect) or just winning more...by the time you play Alexstrasza your opponent would more than likely be at or below 15 and you would be at or around 20-25 life...so that becomes awkward
@Equality + Primordial vs Deathwing: Yes, both kill the hole board and they both cost 10 Mana. But it is a difference, if you have a 12/12 or a 4/8 on the board and if you need one or two cards for the complete board clear. If I only want a 2 Damage AoE, I personally don't like it, when my own minions got damaged. If I really want a total board clear, this is all that matters.
"I don't think you understand the point of deathwing or alex, or of midrange decks in general."
So tell me whats the point of these things, instead of just posting a passive aggressiv post.
I think the point of Alex is to lower the health of the enemy most of the time for preparing a combo to kill him in the next 1-2 turns. On the other hand you can heal your hero in some cases and put a big minion on the board on the same time. In Pala it could have a similar role than Rag, if you want to have 2 heals in your deck and you don't like Lay on Hands, because this card is so brutally slow, because it doesn't effect the board at all (you "loose" a turn in some way).
Right now I don't have the time to explain whats the point of Deathwing and midrange decks in general are. I play HS since open beta with no longer pause, played a lot of midrange decks, became legend, yada, yada, yada... I know the concepts of this game - that doesn't mean, that there is no room to think about alternatives in deck building and talking about them with other people.

Paladin doesn't have enough reach to justify offensive and has enough heal to ignore defensive use of Alex.
Deathwing discards your hand, which can be awkward. This card is also often used as a last resort against an oppresive board and you rarely face those as Paladin.
How about you test those cards and share your results?

The thing is, with Pally you have no reach. Say you get his health to 15, what combo are you going to use when all you have are truesilvers for potential reach, which have been used by then?
Keep in mind a legendary card doesn't always mean better. Primordial drake is the ultimate late game card as it develops a 4/8 taunt and deals 2 to the board and most of the time it's a decent board clear.
Paladin doesn't have enough reach to justify offensive and has enough heal to ignore defensive use of Alex.
Yes, Alex whouldn't be usefull offensive in Paladin most of the time. I mostly thought about her as an aditional heal, because I don't think that Pala has enough heal. He has Rag - and what else? Burnbristle? Not enough heal and don't protect you against burst. Holy Light and Forbidden Healing? Cards which only healing and do nothing else arn't good for midrange decks. Lay on Hands? Most of the time way to slow, because it costs you "your hole turn" to use it. And there are no strong neutral healing cards anymore without Heal Bot.
"Keep in mind a legendary card doesn't always mean better."
Yes, I know. And I never claimed something like that. But I'm missing 1-2 more late game bombs, some big dudes for the late game, which can make pressure - like Dr Boom or Rag Firelord in Wild. And Primordial doesn't seem to fit this role - Deathwing maybe could.

Paladin has the best healing options in the game. However, in midrange, healing will generally come from Truesilvers (very minimal, yes) and Rag.
Control however is a different story, as you will probably want to run not only Rag, but forbidden healing and burnbristle as well. Your suggestions make it look as if you're trying to build a control deck, not a midrange deck.
Can you build the deck you have envisioned and then just post it here so that we can discuss a bit more extensively. Pally is amazing and I love the class, truly. Just build the deck and post it and let's see cause I've also thought about going different routes with Pally.
I run a standard midrange list with 1 Primordial Drake, which I do switch out for Ysera when I'm running into too many priests / control decks or mirror matches. I've had great success with it.
Primordial Drake is much better against aggressive decks however, so it should be you go-to include.

If your mid-range Pally is going to turn 9 or 10, you're doing something wrong! Seriously. Aim for a win by turn 8, or 5 against Quest Rogue.
My point: cost-10 dragons are a waste of a card slot.
