Now I know a lot of people have said it, but man is paladin being bent over the blizzard HQ coffee table on this one.
we all know what their losing, but I want to ask, what do you think they'll gain?
What will blizzard replace the cycled out essential cards with, what new arc-types will they push? Will they do anything else with Murlocs? Secrets? Murloc Secrets!?!
Let me know down below what you think the future of Paladin is!
I don't think they'll go again with the strong early drops that feels really unfair when you face a Paladin that curves perfectly (Minibot into muster).
Blizzard seemed very happy with the design of new cards that brings back old/unplayable cards. (Like Mysterious Challenger) so my guess is there will be more cards that'll make buffing/divine shielding interesting for paladin.
Additonnally, since Muster for Battle and Quartermaster will be gone in standard, I won't be surprised to see new cards that interact heavily with Silver Hand Recruit.
Blizzard will give them an early drop however losing muster for battle and probably not being replaced by such a card again will finally make Paladins somewhere between weak and semi good.
I don't mind their shielded minibot. The problem is the curve, shielded minibot into muster for battle into other sticky cards (piloted shredder).
Finally Murloc Knight will see the daylight when Piloted Shredder is gone.
Actually the 2 drop is much better than the other one. Almost even as a 3/3 with no text.
But yeah, if they happen to do this kind of shit, that would be awful, paladin shoud actually become social, we already have anyfin can happen forthose who spit in interaction.

I don't think that Piloted Shredder was taking up the spot Murloc Knight would have been in for anyone. Most people consider it a 6-drop since you need to user your hero power to get the benefit. It usually is dealt with immediately when it hits the board, which is why it's typically saved until turn 6.
If anything, I'd say Mysterious Challenger is what people have been using in its place. The Knight may see play depending on how badly Secret Paladin is hit (yes it's losing a lot, but we haven't seen what Paladin is gaining in the new set).
Paladin really needs another efficient 2 drop. As it is, I feel like Shielded Minibot is probably the biggest universal paladin card that is rotating. Sure, Avenge is going but thats specific to secrets. If you are looking at paladin as a whole, what we are dropping is probably a combination between Shielded Minibot and Muster for Battle.
What we will need in the absence of these cards is probably strong 2/3 mana cards. What we will need to be a strong class will not be balanced cards but high on the curve cards that fill the gaps of what we lost or invent new decks by being something that we dont have now.
Keep in mind that competitive pally really did not take off until Mysterious Challenger so replacing some of our strong effects with other strong cards will not even ensure that pally is strong after rotation.
Hammer of Warth is totally balanced. Think of how Shiv is the same but for 2 mana and 2 damage less. Or how Mortal Coil is 1 mana 1 damage and only draws if it kills.
Avenging Wrath could probably cost 5 man, and guardian of Kings is practically perfectly balanced (Pit Fighter + Holy Light).
Blessed Champion is a gimmicky card, and it's better that way. Holy Wrath is somehow the same.
The future of paladin in standard is to be forever dependent on the cards they release every expansion/adventure.
If they are nerfing cards from the classic/basic set to ensure that all classes must pick up some new cards every cycle, they could also buff some cards to prevent classes from being totally dependant on the cards they release.
I agree and feel that this is a big issue and the main reason why Blizzard SHOULD introduce buffs as well as nerfs for the Classic set.
The reason for this is that, if certain classes are distinctly weak within the basic/classic card pool they will, over time, become overpowered in the Wild format.
The reason for this is quite simple : Blizzard will try to ensure that Standard has a balanced metagame in which all classes are roughly equal. If, for example, Druid is very strong in Classic while Paladin is very weak, Blizzard will find that they have to release much stronger Paladin cards than Druid in every expansion and adventure, so that Standard is balanced.
If this happens, then the Wild format will face an ever-improving pool of cards for Paladin while Druid never gets significantly better.
Blizzard have recognised that Druid needs to be nerfed in Classic but don't seem to have realised that Paladin (plus Shaman & Priest) need to be improved or else they will constantly be favouring these classes in expansions.
It would be nice to see Pally get some cards that push it in a new direction, maybe towards a control-oriented style. It would be hilarious to see the frequency of Paladins on the ladder fall off the face of the earth when the primarily viable deck requires 20 minute+ games.
Sadly, if recent experience tells us anything, it will get trash tier cards while some underprivileged class (Rogue, Shammy?) gets overbuffed into Public Enemy #1 status.
I would say they'd get the cards way under curve to balance them out but
Its Ben Brodes favorite class
When Secredin was at its height and top tier Blizzard added Keeper of Uldamon
The meta would look much better if another class got Uldamon and Anyfin; I do think Blizz tried and just plain whiffed on cards like Unearthed Raptorand Unbound Elemental. They really really need a test server; LOE was a great expansion but some of the cards went to the wrong classes.
I think the issue with giving paladins a good curve is that they also have a powerful late game between their hero power and their strong removal, along with TIrion. Thus giving them ANY form of good curve will threaten a deck similar to secret paladin, even if MC is removed later.
Thus unless they nerf Tirion (which is possible) then paladin may need something that isn't a tempo based minion curve.
As far as the 'trash tier cards' that's only done when the class retains their old power tools which has always been the case. Dropping everyone's power level is what will make it so that you don't have to softball certain classes while 'catching up' others. We already know how Paladin looked before they got their curve: horrible. So they don't have to wait till after Standard kicks in to build them up again.
Though do note that this is the first iteration of this whole thing. Nothing goes well the first time you do something and even Blizzrad is expecting that something is going to go FUBAR that they'll need to fix up later.
This would be where I would say "adjust expectations and have some patience before going on the "OMG BLIZZARD SUX DIE DIE DIE" raging but..well, we all know that's going to happen anyway.
Too many people are asking for tools that palladin SHOULD NOT HAVE. I love pally, its one of my favorite classes but its inherit weaknesses is supposed to be that it does not have in class silence effects, efficient direct damage removal, or cheap efficient draw effects. The class as a whole focuses on efficient minions, equipment, buffs, heals, and swarm based tactics.
What should we expect in the next set? The answer is easily tools similar to what we are loosing and or fall within what paladin does. Its silly to say we want a Darkbomb effect as that just isn't ever going to happen. Its a lot more likely that we get some stat efficient 2-4 mana minions as what makes up what we need to remain viable.
There really are a lot of directions that pally can go to remain viable but I suspect that aggro and midrange tactics are going to remain where pally is good at. Giving us efficient early minions and good buffs would be a good thing in which to expect as that tends to be the strong mechanics that work for pally. Control pally can work well but I think its always going to be very situational as to what the meta is which will determine if control is an option for pally.

To Arms Men!
Probably some sort of overpowered early drop card which they will make common to ensure that paladin stays balanced in arena.
You are not prepared!

Palaidins, rightfully so, will get slapped.

I can already imagine cards like
or
In order to replace Shielded Minibot and Muster for Battle…

Just hope secret paladin takes a hit. So tired of playing against that deck. So many play it, and it's so easy to play.
What's the future of Paladin? I don't really know but Anyfin Can Happen.
Its fangs are in your flesh before its hiss leaves your ears.
Golden Heroes: Druid -> Rogue -> Shaman -> Hunter -> Warlock

But other than that we don't know what they will add for pally in the next expansion.
I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Where it belongs: Very resourceful mid-range type of deck.
