Take this as no offense but you should focus more on more "basic" game knowledge first. If you craft decks becuase their Legend winrate is high, you also want to play them at a Legend level; I wouldn't really blame the deck but myself in this case. People like to throw around how easy is to play Quest Mage but (aside from salty people) they are usually seasoned and well informed players. I think you should prioritize learning some basics like mana efficiency, threat assessment/removal and then learn hoe to pilot the deck properly.
Some tips like the others already said regarding the match you recorded. Even tho it feels bad quest completion is always the most important part of the deck (unless you need to survive) so sometimes being inefficient with mana is the right play, also you need to learn which cards do what in the deck: Ignite and Fireballs are usually the finisher but you can use both to trade if needed, especially Ignites since you get them back, Fire Sale is a good draw since if you control the board well you can clear 2/3 minions with other spells whilst completing the Quest without having to use it, Refreshing Spring Water is always the best draw spell if you can cast it, especially if you already casted Arcane Flow (which you should always prioritize) unless you need to complete a Questline with Arcane and want to use I.E. (but then again you may draw a better arcane spell anyway) Cram Session is the card most inexperienced players misuse, you want to hold it until Quest completion 90% of the time or if you get a spell damage minion, using it to complete the Quest means you are already in a bas position but the worst play is just using it to draw raw, don't do that. Apexis Blast... Honestly I hate it in the deck, I prefer to run 2 Wand Thiefs or 1 and a Spicy Bread Baker (good card if you find yourself needing healing) Runed Orb is great removal/face damage at the start since it also gives you resource to complete Quest but is also very good post Quest completion since you can discover lethal (use it either very early or try to if you draw it by turn 7/8) Great intel is use your own discovered minions to use targeted minion spells. Remember it's almost always more worth it to use a spell to complete the quest rather than 2 (or god forsake 3) of the same school in a row, only exception is lethal on board I guess.
Hope you can manage to get better, remember losing is normal (even a 54% winrate looses 46% of the time) and don't feel bad for crafting a suboptimal deck, you're the one playing it suboptimally so you haven't wasted your dust
Thanks, this deck is frustrating, all your sage advice would not have mattered at all in my last game against a quest rogue who simply went face whole game while I sat there, dick in hand, defenceless...
I have found quest rogue to actually be a favorable matchup. Try to keep some flurries for when he completes quest and stealth his Scabb.
The deck is definitely able to get Legend, I did it every month since United in stormwind with a winrate of around 64% when reaching legend.
As someone stated earlier, I don't like apexis blast either, wand thief are great, Make sure to play them when you can brain freeze them afterward! This is one of the most common way to advance quest in matchups where your opponent doesn't give you target for frost spells.
If you go with the 2 minions route, plan your refreshing spring water turns, and think about what you will do if you do hit some minions with it and don't get as much mana back.
Once you better understand matchups and the deck, your winrate should rise. If however the current rank you are at is the rank you usually sit at every month, this could just mean this is where you belong no matter the deck.
That’s blizzards matchmaking for you… enjoy spending your dust and being matched against the counter decks.

How does this help Blizzard? You do understand that there's a real person playing the counter deck, right? If you think Blizzard favors certain deck types, why not just play that deck and rake in the wins? Oh, wait, let me guess -- you've tried that and you still lose?
That just means YOU ARE BAD AT HEARTHSTONE.

Just a heads up, if you have 10 cards and you're not aware of that fact and you complete the quest, Dawngrasp goes poof, no consolation flowers, nada. Need to keep track of my card count. Check.
I don't mean to be a whiner but I seriously hate this deck. I'm getting my ass handed to me regardless of what cards I switch out, how many grandmaster videos I watch, your guy's suggestions, podcasts, etc. I didn't like playing a mage in WoW either, too squishy. You wait forever to complete the quest and in the meantime, you find yourself down 30 - 15 because your face is being smashed. Hard to believe this deck made it to legend, am I on expert servers or something? That is all...
Maybe the deck just doesn't fit you. Most of us have a deck type like that, for example i just don't have the patience to play slow priest decks in any meta.
Try to figure out the style of decks you enjoy playing and avoid crafting others in the future.

I get fucked when I play face hunter. Trash tier decks give me better win rates in general XD I'm also not much of a mage guy. Try some BIG warrior maybe?

Never lost a game hey Pinocchio?
Mind linking a grandmasters video with them using this deck? Can't seem to find one...

Benga has a good point there.
To me it sounds like you are a value Player. Figure out whats your style and what Kind of meta decks favours your style.
I am a value Player, so I gotta double check quite often if it's not better to just go face and prepare lethal over the most flashy/value play.
For that reason I struggle with typical Combo decks, I just cant hold on my pieces sometimes.
So I play mostly controlish or board decks and stuff that is super straight forward. Like aggro for the d5 to legend grind.
Quest mage is in theory a control Deck but one that forces you into a weird playstyle
Is it the Open the Waygate quest or the new cancer one?
