I've tried most class decks for the new expansion so far, but Mage currently eludes me and I want to give something a go. I'm aware it's sitting miserably near the bottom of the pile right now, but I don't mind. I want to try something new and need ideas. I've not got Khadgar yet, so can't really try that particualr deck - so I need some good Deckspiration! from the Hearthpwners. :-D
Can anyone suggest some ideas for a Mage deck or point me towards ones that might be "fun"* *high winrate not required as long as meme shenanigans are involved... :-)
EDIT: Title changed due to some of the more sensitive forum members getting very upset about a clickbait title.
Well, Freeze style mage is OK right now. You have to adjust your play to different opponents, but it can win games and it is reasonably enjoyable to play.
"hand mage" is also decent. I think the "dragon Mage" is partly a hand-mage deck. Mage can't compete in the agro department right now, it seems to need to go for a big impact win. Its best asset is a range of good defenses.

I didn't realise there was still a freeze mage kicking around. Is there a good list anywhere you can point me to please?
Atm I'd advise either Conjurer Mage (there are multiple variants though, some more similar to Control Burn Mage, some heavily minion based with Book of Specters), and as stated above, Freeze Mage.
Freeze Mage is pretty nice, but it's shredded to pieces by Control Warrior. Conjurer Mage, on the other hand, mops the floor with Control and Bomb Warrior, but loses heavily to aggro decks (Token Druid most notably).
I saw someone playing a variant of Book Mage this morning - but using Archmage Antonidas and that guy who gives you 2 bananas as a trigger for him. I suppose when it works it's fine, but it feels a little hit and miss.
I'm playing my own take on dragon khadgar mage with lunas pocket galaxy. Its really fun! I have a winrate from level 18-8 on around 80 % thanks to all the warriors and rouges on ladder.
I've been trying out a Dragon variant of Book Mage. Been doing decently so far. The Mossy Horror has been great at dealing with token decks and murlocs. My current version has swapped out a Nightmare Amalgam for a Conjurer's Calling due to how powerful it is on Mountain Giant and a few other low-stat high-cost minions.
I use a controlish like this one, without dragons and with more aoe spells(2 blastwaves, 2 blizzards, 2 flamestrikes , 1arcane explosion for token druids. I am 17-11 at the moment(about 61%) with 7-2 against token druids and 6-1 against warriors. Rogues are the hard counter to this deck
I like the concept of the Book Mage using the new mage Twinspell on the giants (and other cards). I think I'll try building something along those lines next. Has anyone found that the Book burns the twinspell much? Or is the chance too low for it to be a real problem would you say?
The archetype may have lost its Odd power support, but where you have a 1 damage hero power, you now get access to Magic Dart Frog and Messenger Raven. Basically, you’ve traded the hero power for small spells synergy.
Untamed Beastmaster is a lot of fun to play with, and he should be satisfied as long as you aren’t playing any rams.
This deck was made by Disguised Toast and is the obviusly most funny deck ever. I played many games on rank 5 with this and lost only a single match caused by a huge misplay from my side. It needs a lot of thinking almost every turn, but if you can make it it works really well. Good luck and have fun!

Fun and non-top tier winrates?
Try the deck in my signature. O:-)
THanks man - I'll give that one a go and see what it's like. :-)

One deck I wanna try is some sort of deathrattle mage with cards like Safeguard and Mechanical Whelp with Khadgar and use Conjurer's Calling as your trigger. Throw in the obligatory Mountain Giant and some anti aggro and you might have some fun

I've no clue what I'm doing...

I've been using this one atm. It's pretty good. I'd say that 65% win rate is maybe a bit too generous though. Maybe between 55%-60%.

I've had it happen once or twice. But you'll usually draw minions given it's only 2 other spells in the entire deck (the other Book and Conjurer's).
i have my own version without book. I realy like the book but the big spell type is quite good too.
It´s arguabe wether Kalecgos is too expensive. So it´s not a must but he´s just cool :-). He´s winning games so at least not bad.
Beast Mage! If you haven’t played it yet.

Too soon! You have awakened me too soon executus!

Try this Chump's deck, it looks really fun!

Or not...
If you like faster games I recommend this deck:
It's fun. It doesn't use any new legendaries, so hopefully you have all the cards. (Mana Cyclone can be swapped out if you don't have that.)
