I love Exodia Mage, it is by far my favorite Mage deck to play. However, I have not seen a WR above 50% for any variation of it. The best version seems to be with the full Freeze Mage package without the Quest (45% WR for me):
2X Simulacrum, Leyline Manipulator OTK with Antonidas and 1 Molten Reflection
BUT I feel that this deck is slower than quest mage in many cases. I've been experimenting with Quest Mage and I've been getting dumped on by basically any deck except extreme control with quest mage. Everyone plays aggro decks and it is no fun that 2/3 games I'm praying to make it to Turn 8-10. Has anyone found any way to play Quest or Exodia mage with any success? Tips? Thank you!
I prefer to be killed way before turn 8 than play til turn 9 just for a mage dump 4 stupid aprentices and an old gay man farting "ah-ha!" everytime a Fireball hits my face and then I'm dead.
What does this mean? It's alive in standard? Where? Or are you saying it's not viable in standard (the more likely scenario)....
In standard there's no way to disrupt this mage combo (unless you're a lucky Warlock). The only counter, as you pointed out, is being aggro and killing the mage as quickly as possible. I think that's why Quest Mage is alive in standard. It's winrates are low because Odd Paladin, Odd Rogue, Even Shaman and Healock are a thing.
i have answered your question as in: there is no way to play exodia or quest mage in standard with success right now
OK, that is what I thought. I was only confused because my subject is "is exodia mage dead?" and you said not in standard, which I interpreted as it is not dead in standard, but that is kind of a silly thing to think considering it is rarely seen since ice block rotation.

Yeah I suppose that makes sense. It's an aggro world... it's always been kind of an aggro world, as far as I know. I started playing when Pirate Warrior was #1. Well for now it would seem that the freeze mage exodia is the best way to go for it right now. Perhaps that new card Blast Wave will help mitigate the incoming damage and help with Quest Exodia. Doesn't seem too likely though... not that you would be bothered by it, I can see you have faced many a quest mage in the past by the salt lol thanks for the replies.
Not dead for me. I've been carrying nearly a 70% win rate in casual and over 55% in ranked from 15-9 with questless exodia. My build is my own variation but nothing too different from the versions that go draw crazy and eliminate ice barriers.

Oh, really?? I am surprised to hear that it's going well without ice barriers. I find them pretty helpful when I'm playing Freeze Exodia but still seeing 45 in casual. I've played the deck over 100 times I really feel like I know what to do... so why 45% to your 70? EDIT: Nevermind, found your list on your profile. I am going to try it!!
