I think the spell damage cards are a little underrated. I've been wrecked by a couple tempo mages that used the new one mana card along with 2 of the new spell power boosters to do 5 damage to 3 minions for 1 mana. I don't know if the deck is top tier, but it at least looks playable. It's too early to be claiming that mage's new cards are garbage.
A class does't need amazing cards from each expansion to be good. I took Big Spell Mage to top 200 legend last season even though I'm not the greatest player and mage didn't get a lot of support last set. The meta is just as important to how viable a deck is as getting more card support is.
Both of Mage's new legendaries are disgusting in constructed format, especially together. If they aren't in a tier 1 deck during this expansion, they'll be in a tier 1 deck in another.
Unless "disgusting" means horrible tempo loss or excessive setup needed to you I have to disagree.... They're not bad cards but they're not even close to being broken either.... Pocket Galaxy is a huge tempo loss, unreliable for Combo Decks and only works if you have draw to back up the minions costing 1,which brings us to Luna.. Again,it's not a bad card but unless you get lucky or spend time setting it up it will draw 1 or at most 2 cards (Keep in mind that I'm saying this assuming you have to do the whole thing during your turn cause no one would ever dare to let a card like that survive) so I'd much rather run Arcane Intellect or Acolyte Of Pain instead.... I have to agree with OP that Mage got shafted the last two expansions but luckily I think our powerful Classic set (I dread the day my precious Fireballs/Frostbolts will be HOFed or nerfed), some really good cards we got in other sets (DK,Glyph,Arcanologist,Aluneth) and some decent cards we got lately will still make the class stand a chance... Probably it won't be Tier 1 but I doubt it'll ever be as bad as other classes were at some point....

Dude, every class goes through tough seasons. I mean, look at warrior last expansion. Fatigue was somewhat decent but what else worked? Odd warrior wasn't incredible. I can think of a time where almost every class had its low points and being lowest tier. Hell, even some classes start poor at the beginning of the expansion but find a strong archetype halfway through. Just stick around and see what happens. Otherwise, play different classes. Warrior has always been my favorite but last expansion I learned to play priest for the first time ever! (combo). Just have fun!
Warrior hasn't been good in a long time and still isn't that great.
Not really, but Mage has one of the most consistent and powerful basic-classic sets. Other classes like Paladin or Priest seems mucho more damaged by trash expansions cards, mage can survive on the right meta using only one or even no new cards. Just be patient.
Theres still Elemental Mage, Big Spell Mage, and Tempo Mage. Mage is ok. If you can't win with those decks, its your fault.
Mage does have some playable decks, I can agree with that ... but the second sentence is nonsense.^^ Compared to what some of the other classes and archetypes are pumping out, you have a really hard time with Mage.
Also, here's a related challenge for you (which is actually just a potshot^^): If you can't win with Big Spell Mage against Shudderwock Shaman ... you know ... it's your fault. ;P
Re: the last point.
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LOSE.
Big Spell Mage is a Control deck with limited threats and absolutely no reach. It beats up on Aggro decks. It is bad versus decks with extreme late game value. And that is basically what Shudderwock Shaman is.
What are you people talking about? Mage is at the best state it has been since Ice Lance got rotated out. Have you tried Firebat's Burn mage? It's the only deck that can consistently beat both Zoolocks and Crazy Ramp Druids.
Zoolocks: The game is decided on the first 3 turns, if you manage to throw them off the board you'll burn them down before they do. Shooting Star/Arcane Missiles are phenomenal against their crappy-health swarm minions. The moment they fall behind they start tapping to get resources for a comeback, making your job even easier (literally had a guy with 9 health tap while I had a Fireball on hand.)
Ramp Druid: Oh, they give me mana crystals? Whatever am I going to do with them? 2 Arcane Intellects, Luna and Aluneth, plus their favorite removal card draws me more cards. Furthermore, a lot of their precious combo minions are extremely understated, and they don't run Ironbark Golem to absorb Exploding Runes (or simply didn't have time to play it because of all the ramp). Those Dreampetal Florists/ Dragoncallers/ Gadgetstan Auctioneers are a very expensive way to reduce their own health.
Mage at this moment is a sleek pain delivery machine, from your hand directly to your opponent's face.
I would not say that mage only got garbage - still has some got tools to stay T2 like BigSpellMage for instance. Elemental Mage like the one Kibler played before Boomsday is still good and got some stuff like Luna's Pocket Galaxy to improve it a little.
Astromancer is not the best card, but also works in Hand/Minion Mage. Sure the +Spellpower stuff isn´t that great but not everything is garbage - Mage is still a good class and still has good and awesome cards DK Jaina for example - And not every class can be OP at the same time :)
I would say the 4/3 with +2 spellpower is pretty good aswell.

At least mage has priest to give them company at the trash tier.
Just chill and play some other class until mage is good again.
Priest also got shit cards in WW and Boomsday, some would argue KnC was also pretty weak.
Accept it and move on. Instead of writing forum posts, dive into casual or practice mode and try out various new ways to play mage with current cards.
As a wild Casino Yogg-Saron mage, I beg to differ! I haven't had this much fun with the new card in a while!

Mechathun Priest is looking Tier 1
Warrior hasn't been good in a long time and still isn't that great.
Mage is a tutorial class, play something else.

It has to be snakes.

No not really, it seems promising but not anywhere close to Tier 1. Even Mind Blast priest seems better to me than Mecha'thun priest.
So another 3 months with same Mind Blast archetype for priests, at least Mages have Big spell mage and tempo mage.
Thank God.
I'm 100% sure you never played mage.
People are asking a mage deck with a decent ~55% win-rate.
What about warlock, paladin? And not to mention they're nearly 62% win-rate.
You just don't like mage, that's all. That doesn't mean it should be unplayable.
According to HSreplay, the 4th highest winrate deck in legend since the expansion launched is a tempo mage with a 57% win rate.

Be calm, Warrior feel this way ever since MSoG until now lolz. At least you still have 2 playable archtype.
