Can some experienced big spell player advice me on how to win this match up? i don't have all the cards for this deck (sindragosa, and 2 witchwood epic cards - waiting to open them eventually; f2p btw). i really do enjoy this type of deck.
...and what is your winrate against this deck? mine is 0%
also if i play taunt warrior i have 100% winrate. is this deck the worst match up?
Why would it be? Of course it is quite hard to whithstand the amounts of AOE, plus your AOE are dead in the hand, but I think main focus is to use upgraded hero power to create infinite amount of elementals. I am afraid for that you need Sindragosa. What is your deck?
As a quest warrior I can say that on my way to rank 5 this season I faced about 5-6 BSM's and I have a 100 % winrate against the deck.
I cannot tell you what you have to do - if the Quest Warrior doesn't make mistakes (like playing Scourgelord Garrosh) I don't see how you can win this match up.
But it is your luck that the Quest Warrior deck isn't the most played in the meta right now. I faced only 1 omw to rank 5 this season (so far).
I see a lot of Shudder-shaman, odd paladin, odd rogue, recruit hunter and BSM compared to mirror matches.
I've been playing only Big Mage for about 3 seasons now, and only if I miss the DK they have a chance to win, If draw Frost Lich Jaina early is most likely a win, warrior only have "4" mass board clear, 2x Brawls and 2x Warpath, Just try to have 2-3 mobs on the field to force the warrior to use them, Stonehill Defender after they play the quest is a good card since can let you have 2 mobs on the field on same turn, Dragoncaller Alanna will force warrior to use a board clear if doesnt have it, its a win. Either way I rarelly lose to a quest warrior, and same rarelly see them in ladder...

I also mained quest warrior last month and the mage is at a serious disadvantage. If the warrior goes to ragnar mode (which usually is T10 in my deck after using phantom militia T9) before Jania hits the table it' s ually GG. I usually keep a brawl or warpath as backup for alanna and thats it ... So bring Jania T9 and you have a chance.
I started winning this one more often when I stopped trying to apply pressure early on. Don't worry about early damage; try to keep his armor total in check and let Alex do the heavy lifting on his HP total. Obviously full mulligan for Frost Lich Jaina. But I try to save as many minions as possible for after he completes the quest. You might run into hand size issues here, which could entail burning an AOE spell early. Feel free to burn Dragon's Fury on a small board; you're not gonna want to blow up your own board later in the game. I also recently cut the Tar Creepers in my deck for Stonehill Defenders, as well, and the extra minion presence has helped.
It is touph but not impossible, you need Jaina in turn 9 (8 with coin) or all hope is lost, make a big armor gain turn with both 1/2 elementals at the same time and you have your way to fight, keep or mulligan very hard for Jaina in starting hand.
I have a ~75% winrate against quest warrior as big spell mage but the match up is really bad. You need to find Jaina as soon as possible to start freezing his face and keep your life total at max. Don't forget that quest warrior wants the board empty in order to push face damage with hero power. That's where sindragosa becomes a key card as she gives you a free water ele + an 8/8 body that your opponent has to deal with. Arcane keysmith is also pretty sweet if you get to mess with their removal spells (execute, brawl and warpath). Remember that Alanna is really weak to his board clears, you have to bait both brawls and warpaths if you want to make sure she and her dragons stick or just hope that your opponent doesn't have aoe. Pick big guys from stonehill defender and try to overextend with your small minions to bait aoe. That's pretty much I think, oh one more thing. Your aoe will be useless once warrior finishes the quest, you can waste the spells in order to enpower alanna.
Something more. If your opponent plays cards like direhorn hatchling, poly it. The game can turn into a fatigue one and you want your opponent to take more damage than you do.

The goal of all life is death.
Also, is there a similar thread created?! i couldn't find it on this forum.

Good thing. There are few quest warrior players.

Ideally you'd hit Skulking Geist on curve, Frost Lich Jaina on curve, and follow that up immediately with Alexstrasza. Arcane Keysmith can be a big one here, too. If you can snag a Phantom Militia with Frozen Clone, that's great for building a wide board. But even the threat of a Counterspell can help protect your board from brawl and make him burn extra resources.
I love this matchup. It's definitely unfavorable, but I'm 7-8 over the last two seasons against them and I feel pretty good about that.
7-8 is good. would say well played and more important well adapted. Move your decks 20% off meta for surprises.

Overall a pretty hard match up but winnable.
