Personally I went with a Spiteful Setup And I tried to keep the curve fairly low. As of right now BoS hasn't screwed with the Spiteful pool yet so it seems worth the high roll. Not ready to post a decklist just yet because I'm working out the kinks (face hunter and shudderlock are driving me nuts though). A lot of the theory crafting was an elemental setup but I'm not quite convinced that's the way to go, at least not if you use Archmage Arugal + Book of Specters. Your hand seems like it would always be too cluttered. Not sure if the deck will be a contender but I'm curious to see what other routes people are taking.
I tried the elemental route. Your hand gets cluttered like you say. You have huge value but no way of getting it on the board fast enough. Elementals just aren’t strong enough.
I also don’t see why you’d play zoo mage. Sure you can draw a bunch of your little minions for 2 mana, but why not just pay 2 mana more and get them on the board with Call To Arms?
Because paladins are lame lol and call to arms really needs a nerf to 5 mana (in my opinion =). Honestly I dunno but it was a thought that crossed my mind, especially with Arugal duplicating any minions you draw which has come in VERY handy.
go for elemental arugal , make sure to get cheap elemental that gives value . fire fly shimering tempest , steam surger , kalimos . help of leyline it will help reduce valued cards. came from them .

Yeah that was one direction I considered going, still might do it because Leyline is really good.
Won against all but one Shudderwock deck and majority of Odds Hunters so far. Odd Paladin can be troublesome if you don't shut down the dudespam early in the game (But hey, if you get board they don't have Consecration). Warlocks are doable if you get your Spellbreakers at the right time, but still often a loss.
Edit: Only seen a few Warriors so far, beaten 3/4 Odd Taunt/Quest ones and 2/2 or so Rush ones. RogueNG decks depend on how many asshole spells they take from you early on. Ran into 2 or 3 Priests but mostly don't remember those games.
Pretty much this. Cant get the value of anything when playing minion based mage, and every version just feels slower or less powerful than pala/lock. Or in case when I played spiteful mage, it's just a worse version of Priest/Druid. Control mage just gets owned by Shaman.
Gonna try exodia and few more, but not holding my breath on those...
Exodia is a blast to play but also horrible. You won't win much with it but it's funny.
Too many bad Mage spells currently and spellstone is too hard to activate. Routinely I'd get a 3x spellstone and get 2x dragons fury and a glacial mystery.
Plus every deck can deal with Doomsayer so it never goes off. And Blizzard and Flamestrike d ont actually clear boards currently and if they do the opponent immediately refills it.

Mage is very weak this expansion. VERY weak.
Yeah I feel like mage got the short straw but I'm going to keep at it. Priest is the sleeper though I feel. I've been tinkering with Odd Combo Priest and Lady in White Priest and both basically force your opponent to not let any minions live more than 1 turn.
That Aside I did Pull Tess Greymane and the RogueNG deck looks hilarious
The problem I think with minion Mage, like all minion decks, is it requires you to have the board. But it just doesn’t have enough overstatted minions to get it and keep it.
Theres Baku Paladin getting 2 dudes out at once, Rush warrior destroys your board and makes their own at the same time, even shaman has an incredibly powerful early game with cheap totems (cryofreeze is hilariously powerful), zap, and that eel.
try this one , some cards from arugal and the like cant sync yet from previous expansion . still going control mid agro due alot of OTK . btw you can steal their quest or combo if you like .
I think that spell hunter really gave an false idea to Blizzard. Minion mage is just too much, we have 9 different classes for the sole purpose of each one having it's own playstile. We don't need that kind of forced arquetype, it's dumb.

The opposite one.
Trying elemental, but not having much success, it just feels so slow.
Been using this one, but with Fire Plume Phoenix instead of Steam Surgers since I'm broke:

Well since I managed to OTK an OTK deck I am glad xD

Mage just can’t get the board against that.

First- rotate iceblock.
second- Force heavily minion oriented archetype.
Third- Craft useless spells
This is how you kill a class guys. They literally did everything to kill mage.

My decks that led me to legend in the past: [LEGEND] Tempo Inner Priest | [S25 LEGEND] Murlocadin Divine | [S19 LEGEND] TempoMage | [S18 LEGEND] MechMage
Genn Greymane+Fallen Hero+Coldarra Drake+Emperor Thaurissan in Wild, if coldarr survives it makes fireworks, if it doesn't i just Pyroblast the face for the remaining hp
