I'm thinking about crafting a single copy of Simulacrum for my Exodia mage, any other exodia mage players here that know if it's worth running a copy of that card? The pros of running a copy would be that I could go off earlier and that death grip on a summoners apprentice isn't game over.
I lost a game against exodia mage because of simulacrum. The mage overdrew twice burning a summoner apprentice once and the card that coppies him (4 cost spell) the second time. He got 2 summomers from 2 simulacrum and that was game.
I've been playing almost exclusively Exodia Mage lately (albeit in Wild) and personally am liking Simulacrum as a one of.
As someone else has already mentioned it gives you a bit more reliability with the combo so you're not royally fucked if a Sorcerer's Apprentice is the 30th card in your deck and can be used to double up on Babbling Book, Doomsayer or Giants depending what variation of Quest Mage you run. I've even used it on Antonidas a couple times to force someone to react or pressure them hard.
Plus the card itself is pretty flexible design wise and could potentially fit in numerous future decks. worth the dust now IMO :)
I mained Exodia Mage for about 3 months in Wild. I now run a one-of Simulacrum in my list. Perfect for copying either and Apprentice or Doomsayer depending on the state of the game. Highly recommended.
In my opinion, it's not really useful in Exodia Mage decks. The reason is that my strategy is drawing cards as steadily as possible. And if you keep a slot for Simulacrum, you'll loss a slot for another drawing card. And it seems to me that you can't find any benefit from this card. Of course, it depends on your strategy.
Don't mind me, I'm just interested in this thread and I want to learn more about Simulacrum. How can this be used most efficiently? If combo mage stays popular in the future, what advantages does Simulacrum offer, which I as an ordinary player don't understand them fully?
For now I'm only seing copying giants cheaply as the most safe move.

It does depend on your strategy. If the deck has been built properly, there should be more than enough draw. The most common issue for me is - i have one Apprentice and the other one is at the bottom of my deck. Simulacrum fixes that issue for me. YMMV.
I really like getting a [card]Simulacrum[/card] from one of my Random Spell Generators and can use it quite effectively most of the time. I'm still not sure about giving up a deck slot for it though.
From my own experience pre frozen throne, either an apprentice or molten is in the bottom five cards a lot. Also whenever I snagged a molten reflection from a glyph, my win percentage has gone up a lot. Two times I drew the nuts with perfect rng of glyph into glyph into mana bind and the other glyph into molten while having a tome in hand. I was able to begin exodia on turn 8. There are other times, my hand has been so clunky that I was unable to complete the quest but I had snagged a molten reflection off a glyph or paveling book and had a tome in hand in which I needed to use all five apprentices. Finally, I would have never won against a taunt warrior because he dirty ratted my apprentice from my hand if it wasn't for molten reflection. I haven't played exodia mage since frozen throne, but I would definitely put a single simulacrum.
simulacrum is very good with exodia mage but the problem is that there is not enough slot in the deck to put simulacrum
If you run aco or ghastly conjurer, I'd cut either of those for simulacrum. But I definitely here you it's always tight to fit in new cards. If I could, I'd run mana bind, coc, loot hoarder, thalnos and eater of secrets as well.

Crafted one copy! Gonna try it out and see if I like it.

I have to agree with everyone else - it's a solid one of... at best.

i say yay, play it as a 1 of and you suddenly have to collect less combo pieces.
