I've seen the Secret Hunter list, which is doing pretty well, and I have all the cards, except for Houndmaster Shaw and Mossy Horror.
I am willing to craft Mossy Horror, which is a neat tech against Giggling Inventor that can be used in a variety of decks. The same cannot be said about Houndmaster Shaw, however (and he's also much more expensive, of course).
So, I was wondering if there is any decent substitution for it. I was thinking about Professor Putricide, who I already own and seems a natural fit for the deck.
Houndmaster Shaw is a powerhouse against Aggro and other Midrange.
However, he obviously requires minions to play along with him.
In Secret Hunter, instead, your Secrets should defend your face during the early game, and Shaw has no synergy with them.
Professor Putricide is a neat substitution in Secret Hunter, he covers the same mana spot, and can act just the same as a soft taunt, just slightly weaker, and it grants consistent synergy with the deck.
Tbh, if you feel reasonably safe against Aggro, Putricide is good or even better for you.
So, Shaw is mainly against Midrange and Aggro. Do you think that replacing a control Secret by an extra copy of Explosive Trap or Freezing Trap (which are one-offs in the list I found) would be good to make up for his abscence?

Explosive trap is vs aggro and freezing trap is vs control. I think I run 2 of each in my build, the one off secrets are snipe and rat trap
I'm guessing your build runs far more secrets than this. How does it do?
Can't talk much about mine yet, as I've only played one game. It was vs a Spell Hunter, and I won it solely because I drew Deathstalker Rexxar sooner than the other player :_D
According to Trump, putricide has the worst winrate of all cards in the deck. He seems to be a natural fit for secret hunter, but he allegedly underperforms. And I believe that since he is clunky. Best support for that is the advice to use him lategame with two secrets. Against control, that won't help much, against aggro, you usually cannot wait that long to play your cards.
I use Shaw and he is just great. He has at least synergy with Wellstone and flanking strike and all other minions you play (From DK Rexxar, animal companion, whatever). And he has 6 live when played on curve.
If you have putricide, well, play him. If you have to craft either, I am sure that Shaw is better.

Thanks in advance ^^

Thank you guys ^^

The deck I am using is the one in Tempostorm's Metasnapshot, which doesn't run any of those cards.
