I've tried him a few times since I drew him in my packs... not sure if Hunter is just in a bad spot or he's just not value unless he's a 6 mana 2 card combo but... average in my mind.
he seems unplayable to me after a bit of testing. i guess the question really is "what kind of deck is secret hunter?"...to which i don't have an answer. hunter secrets just aren't as powerful as mage ones (or even, at times, paladin ones). there are few synergies to play on with hunter secrets - no cards like medivh's valet or kabal crystal runner. cloaked huntress is nice enough but you don't want to unload your secrets before putricide, and you'll be lucky if she makes it through a turn. best case you wind up with an empty hand and 4-5 weak secrets active that your opponent barely needs to play around. hunter needs more draw and more synergy cards to make secrets/putricide remotely viable...
BIt's cool but with cloaked huntress rotating out, it shall forever be too slow after that. Hunter secrets are really bad at the moment, in fact the hunter class is by far the worst class. It has poor early game, trash late game and no catch-up. Added to which, people are playing fast paced decks and ditching the best hero power in the game for killing people, replacing it with the slowest and not even that good. 2 mana to get the card then whatever else on top of it, it just doesn't fit any sort of hunter theme at all. Life tap is infinitely better than build a beast in almost any situation. But yeah, in a class that is dead at the moment and one of the best mechanics of previous metas just doesn't work, and it's not worth crippling your deck more than people already are, slowing down an aggressive deck with a really slow DK.
But yeah for Prof to be good you'd have to get the full Christmas tree for free off cloaked huntress on turn 4, any other time it's just too slow or even too bad since it'll cripple your deck and hand.

Im using this homebrew Secret Yogg, and Putricide has been amazing. The deck certainly needs to be piloted by a good player. I managed to climb to R5 from R12 last season. And I'n not even a hunter player, I just started playing hunter this expansion. This season Im already at R11 with it. (But tbh honest I dont think Putricide is worth crafting, just because Huntress is rotating out soon and he may be a tad slow). But if you want to have fun, craft it and play this deck.
I'm just spamming here, because I'm curious about your experience and answers as well, and I would like to learn more about this legendary.
However, prove me wrong, but I think, that if I were to play him in a deck, then I would most definitely use Freezing Trap (protecting the professor), Bear Trap (if my opponent by chance tries to check for Explosive Trap) and maybe Cat Trick and for now this is only going to be a package, instead of a main strategy. That is until we see more support for secret hunter (including more suitable secrets). Anyway imho Professor Putricide doesn't fit in an aggressive deck, because you would want to cast something with him early and he is a bit slow for me (in contrast to his aggressive stats for 4 mana). And he isn't going to work in a late-game oriented, control hunter deck, because the secrets won't be that useful at that time. So I'm guessing in a mid-rangy deck, but I could be wrong.
inb4 I think teachu2die is right with his statement. What is secret hunter actually? What kind of support should he expect? Something like Medivh's Valet?
yeah that's the thing. i can't figure out what kind of deck it should be. aggro and midrange hunter are already decent, adding in secret support just weakens them. control hunter isn't quite viable, and secrets that summon weak minions don't really contribute much there anyway. if hunter had some draw, maybe secrets would be better - but again, you'd be best off incorporating said draw into aggro or midrange.
a couple quick thoughts as to what kind of support might help. something like a 2 mana 1/2 "gain +2/+1 and draw a card if you control a secret" could help w/ draw and board presence while your spamming the board w/ secrets. and then an endgame goal - maybe like a legendary 7 mana 7/8 taunt, "add a random hunter spell to your hand for every secret you've played this game". (maybe these are slightly OP but the archetype needs a real boost)...
I opened him and Im loving the card. to be fair it doesnt always work out. but he is a lot of fun when u have turn 3 cloacked huntress and professor turn 4 with 2 secrets. it works out pretty well.

What are your thoughts on Professor Putricide? Is it a doomed card or could it have potential in Wild or even in future expansions?
Personally I like the concept but I'm afraid Hunter secrets might be too situational to be good

After a bit of playtesting with the processor I'm actually also not convinced he's good. Better replace him with Arfus.

He's pretty useful in Wild, I'm using it to grind up to legend. Secret Hunter is certainly viable in Wild

He fits well in the old secret hunter. Does secret hunter fit in this meta? Not really...

Seems horrible. 4 health on T4 is reaaaally bad, and it requires card synergies on 6... hunter rarely has many cards on 6.
