Wtf blizzard? A 4 Mana 4/4 lifesteal might actually be viable, it could compliment the empty 4 slot, but you had to shaft us compared to the already op priest for what reason?
I imagine we see an increase in good Hunter cards over the next 2 expansions.
Remember when Shaman was a complete joke? Over 2 or 3 sets it became the most dominant deck that the game has seen (with the possible exception of undertaker hunter).
Actually, I believe Mike Donais mentioned that they were going to gradually increase Hunter over a few sets, and I think we can see the beginning of it. Stitched Tracker is pretty disgusting in the right deck. DK Rexxar might actually be the best DK, he's just in the worst class.
No one should be suprised at all. Blizzard makes amazing games and hearthstone is one of them. Blizzard does not take risks, and they certainly do not take risks with cards that might break the game. Hunter has been left behind for what seems like since BRM honestly. While other classes have gotten incredible build around cards that have crafted amazing new decks, hunter has gotten more or less of the same shit.
Hunter and rogue are destined to be one dimensional classes, that's all the big brained blizzard employees can handle.

I've now used it to go from rank 10 to rank 8. I think I can get it even higher with better usage of the deathknight power (i've slowly come to learn that most zombeasts will be 5-8 mana, so you need to curve them out well and then sustain your existing cards in hand. I'm actually able to win a lot of games by turn 8-9 with the standard midrange package I'm running).
FWIW - Donais was a guest on the Omnistone podcast a couple weeks ago. He explained that one of the difficulties designing for Hunter is that the class was actually Tier 1 from ranks 20-6 - it had among the highest play-rates, and among the highest win-rates in each quintile. However, once you hit rank 5, play-rate and win-rate both tank. Metastats was tracking this trend for the entire duration of the Un'Goro meta-game. If Hunter receives a push, it might become tournament-viable, but it would threaten to unbalance the rest of the ladder, where its win-rate is +4%.
I wonder if they are taking into account the fact that the pre-KFT Midrange Hunter deck was so cheap. Budget decks will always be popular, and strong ones will always get free players a fair ways up the ladder.
So the solution would obviously be to give the class a few powerful epic and legendary cards to fill the gaps in its kit. Maybe make it so the expensive cards require a substantially different build from the budget midrange archetype.
That way, the masses can continue riding the cheap archetype to Rank 5, but the cheap deck won't continue to dominate on into Legend. And the new, more expensive archetype can be as good those of all the other classes.
I realize this may sound like I'm advocating pay to win, but really I'm just offering a solution that will work in the existing model. The only reason Hunter is in the state it's in is because it was designed from the beginning as a cheap aggro class, whereas most other classes don't have such strong budget options. If they did, the pre-Rank 5 meta wouldn't look so lopsided.

I can't help but feel Hunter players should rely on its board control spells (for once) this expansion. Not every Hunter deck needs a crummy 1-drop into turn 2 dino adapt and hope for something nice. Only the tempo/midrange deck can make use of that - if you're running the new hero and are trying to make it to lategame you'll need a more solid game plan that doesn't so heavily rely on 1/1 beasts as "board presence". Seriously, tempo hunter is basically a unique version of a Murloc deck that occasionally involves taunt and poisonous mechanics. It's nothing special lol.
Rexxar has some seriously good spells that a provable majority of its playerbase isn't patient enough to use.
"Seriously good spells"... for control? Go on... Grievous bite is good. Hunter's mark is good. After that, erm... telegraphed ae isn't abysmal. The class lacks good ways to deal with midrange minions, to the extent that I'm running two explosive shots over traps ATM to try and get enough power there.
Grivous bite and hunters Mark are not good because people don't play them. When was the last time you saw either of those at rank five?
I received quite a number of upvotes on the deck in my signature, so I started to add a guide which I will update in the next few days. This is the list that is the most consistent for me in Standard at the moment. Of course I am not a pro player, so all the comments and suggestions are appreciated (even the mean ones, troll friends).
Its funny, i played the Standard Blizzard Deathtrap Hunter and changed just 3-4 Cards...works a lot better than all the "Pro" Decks out there wich i tested so far. The Bonemare Midrange was crap for me, rly, 70% winrte ? NO WAY, maybe in just 20-30 Games, but not overall after 100 Matches, never ever
Hunter have hard time against druids and priests mages are 60-45 and almost every warrior i played was taunt warrior (and one control i lost aginst him), rogues are worser than hunters. Also i saw many warlocks but they cant handle zombeasts . This is deck i i am using
main gameplan is to finish game like regular midrange and 4 cards (call of the wild n'zoth deathstalker and abominable are here in case games get longer.

I used to play it after the fritst 1 or 2 months of ungoro but back then aggro was just all over the meta especially Quest Rogue and I gave up on HS until KFT. This deck still had a 70-75% winrate against Quest Mage, Taunt Warrio, Pallys (except murlocs) and even Miracle Priests.

Bleh, trimming quotes on this forum is always impossible, without wrecking t formatting, so sorry for that.
I agree that they're great cards (and that I run them, but my deck is bad); it's a shame that it's almost impossible to find actual control hunter decks on here, though, as they're all claiming to be control.. whilst being slightly slower midrange. Might try poking a renohunter again, but always dislike singletons, and balancing early/late game cards has never been my forte. I'm much better at adapting decks than creating the blighters outright! Yours is an interesting deck, but I am wary of Hemet because, well, Hemet.
you just saw heemt and tell the deck is bad.. there are new combos and ideas and you look afraid of new and to try out something inovative. i would give a try instead and if it wont work then talk nasty to me
As always. Hunter will only be tier 1 when it gets cards to be the top aggro deck again, as it is the variation its hero power supports. Hunter sucks against taunt, against divine shield, early minion are not resilient and die to anything.
Hunter is unplayable?Good let it stay that way.As long as that class doesn't get a makeover ,it's better to stay forever dead. When it's good,it is denying many classes even their existance. So good riddance.BB rexxar, you are not missed. :P
I'm doing ok with Midrange Hunter + Bonemare and The Lich King, it's not great vs other aggro decks but once you get far enough along the ladder you just start farming Jade Druids. I'm not even sure the deck is THAT bad vs aggro, if aggro polarizes towards Pirates or Murlocs then the respective Crabs give you a chance.

What class can't exist when Hunter is good? If anything its the opposite, because as long as classes like Paladin are good, Hunter is fucked.
Warlock, mage, druid, heck even warrior struggles. When hunter is good, the only way to consistenly beat him,is to be faster than him.Any other strategy is pretty much f*cked.Hunter was good in undertaker meta and in old gods post meta.We learned what a face cancerrace the game became both times. So no.
So far my N'zoth midrange hunter has been stomping on alot of decks, people aren't aware how amazing a card Stitched Tracker is, same goes for Bonemare. Main troubles I get is are control pally, quest mage, and well curved murloc decks.
Other than that it's been pretty consistent with win rates, think it went something like 9 wins out of 13 games last night.
Underdog? Maybe, but I do not think so. We just didn't find out how to realize its potential. I do love Deathstalker Rexxar. Currecntly using him in secret deck, not for laddering, but for fun.
Although the value of DK's hero power is insanse. Much better than I actually thought. Battlecry helps too, but only in some cases. HP though... so versatile. Need taunt? Silence? Draw? Finisher? Here it comes!
Going to try deathrattle hunter soon. Maybe more control-ish since game allows it for now.
My god thanks, i'm so glad that hunter is currently one of the less strong class in the game. We already have the cancer murlock package, we don't need to endure the beast package that we already have with cancer druid. Once again, i sincerily don't get how people can like this class, boring from a to z. Its mechanics are objectively uninteresting and its hero power stupid as fuck. Seriously, wtf is this class that puts you under pressure just with its fucking hero power that says, okay if you don't have answers, you're dead in 15 turns whatever happens (knowing that it's more between 5 and 7 turns in reality). The hero is so ugly and seems so silly that it's already a good reason for not playing the class haha. Hs evolves in a fantastic world with dragons and co, and meanwhile there are people who prefers to play a class that fights with stupid cats and dogs haha wtf

Quit complaining and just have fun with this game!

And tell me what dragons and death and mind control have to do with priest? Why should they get all the cool stuff?

12/5 currently, but ofc, it says nothing

I swear Savannah Highmane should be a legendary sometimes...

I agree, Deathstalker Rexxar is quite underrated, just as his "2 mana: draw an insane card" hero power.
