I didn't have the chance to open Swamp King Dred in a pack, so I'm playing a Midrange Beast Hunter without him. Is he really a good addition or should I keep my dust ?
>= 7 mana card that does not impact the board imidiatly is unfortunately always too slow .
I really recommend that you use your dust for better legendary.
However, it does kinda impact the board immediately. Kinda, as it prevents your opponent to play many minions. I have one, and see it as a 'secure the board' kind of card.
Haven't used him a lot, but that mainly is because I don't play hunter much. The decks I tried him in where fun. I do not recommend crafting the baby-rex though.
Maybe he should take the place of a Savannah Highmane though, to prevent too many high drops.
An important thing to consider is when your deck can win the game and why you want it to win at that point. For this reason, I believe you are better off running Leeroy Jenkins rather than Swamp King Dred. Dred is just too slow; if the game isn't over when you are playing him, you probably already lost.

That is exactly what makes him a win more card . If your board is already good the opponent is not gonna play his own mining into it . He's gonna try to remove your board first .
That's why loatheb was a great card (it secured your board from clears, prevented burn) and this isn't.
The thing is if Midrange Hunter isn't winning by turn 7 then Dredd isn't going to do much or singlehandedly open up the game. Imo, Black Knight is a better card for this expansion
Interesting card but not good enough in meta If king dred can block battlecry i think he will see play more, but now spend 7 mana to play a minion allow your opp counter it is really worthless
lol you're funny... Hunter has 2 good Legendarys... Savannah Highmane and the other Savannah Highmane lol to replace one with swamp king is laughable 🙃

if i can say something, i too would like to open a dred and make a deck with him, i just love his mechanic how he would deny my opponent from playing a minion
but what people are saying is, sadly, true - hunter has better cards, in this case better = faster; that's just the gameplay of the hunter class, being more proactive early on and thus using smaller, but quicker minions; they can't stall the game and play the control role (at least for now, though back pre wotog i did encountered some control-ish hunts)
I think possibly the plan from blizzard was to use him in a deck that changed the hero power to +2/+2 beasts, but that deck doesn't work...just like all slower hunter archetypes don't work. Why would it be better than 2 face dmg hero power that can apply pressure and bypass everything except ice block? It's not even close. Sucks cause he was the first legendary I unpacked from un'goro - I really wanted him to work...

it's extremely incredibly fucking good. if you have dust and want him even a little, craft him. he has won me A TON of games. he's NEVER let me down so far. he comes out and either eats premium removal (actually hasn't happened all that much since my Scavenging Hyenas and boosted Hungry Crabs with Houndmaster buffs usually eat it first) or takes out their taunt (had him eat plenty of The Curator - wins me the game as they hover over it trying to figure out what it is) and then finishes the game next turn. a 9/9 on turn 7 is pretty good lmao.
He is not needed but i play him in my version. He won me some games i otherwise would not have won. Most of the time the game is over at turn 7. But i like big Dinos so...

Hello fellas,

I would keep my dust. It is a good card, but midrange doesn't need it.
Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
Too slow

It is not needed in Midrange hunter deck. It is too slow you would be better off with two Savannah Highmane and one Call of the Wild
Dead but dreaming

Ok guys, thanks for the replies ! I'll see if I unpack him someday, I'll stick with my list for now. :)
Swamp King Dred is only good when Rogue burgles it and plays it against Hunter. Every other class except Hunter and Druid just removes it.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Interesting card but not good enough in meta

I tried it today for the 30 hunter class card quest, not very good.

if your opponent has to hover over a card it might not be a good indication of how good a card is
