After an entire expansion's absence, hunter is back in the meta!
I've been looking at the recent midrange hunter lists and I noticed that Rat Pack has found its way into most deck lists.
Now before I go craft a pair of them, I'd like to seek a second opinion first among the Hearthpwn community: as the title says, is Rat Pack really a must craft? Or could I still play a successful deck without them? 800 dust seems a steep price to pay (half a legendary) if it's not something really game-changing, so I'm trying to avoid "buyer's remorse" before taking the plunge.
Dinomancy is not a good card... Rat pack is really good if you can land a houndmaster on it, but even if you cant, it's still good.
Its about having constant board presence.. Sticky minions like this means it's a lot harder for opponents to completely clear your board.. You can always craft 1-of for now.. But if you want to play the new hunter, you might as well go for it.. There's a reason most decks include it
It depends how aggressive you want to be. If you are running nesting roc then 2x rat pack is highly important. If you are running bittertide hydra then you can replace the rat pack with another 3 drop beast like fledgling.
I don't think there are any "must crafts" for Hunter, ATM. at least none that are epic or legendary. hunter has lots of options right now, try them out before committing 800 dust
I would say that it is not a "must craft" even though it does fit into some hunter decks. You may decide to spend the dust elsewhere and go with something like Vicious Fledgling instead. Hunter is pretty clogged at the three spot as it is, so I wouldn't run both. Vicious Fledgling requires an immediate response from your opponent otherwise it can really spiral out of control. This is actually a good thing for a three-drop because it means less removal available for your Tundra Rhinos, Savannah Highmanes, etc.

^^Best answer here from poodris. If running Nesting Roc then craft AT LEAST 1. If no Nesting Roc do what you feel comfortable with. I will say i run x1 Rat Pack with 2x Nesting Roc. And I will craft a second Rat Pack without hesitation whe i figure out what to cut.

Thanks!
Rat Pack is really good with Dinomancy so yeah you might as well :p
Craft one of them at first just to try it out. It's a great card that helps in a lot of situations.
Rat pack is great with Houndmaster and Dinomancy. Plus, it helps with your curve, as you can now play:
1. Alleycat
2. Crackling Razormaw/Hyena/Kindly Grandmother
3. Rat pack
4. Houndmaster
5. Rhino
6. Highmane
It's not a staple card, so I would only use it if you're going to be playing mostly Hunter to climb.

Seems ok.

For example:
Not a must. I don't run it - this is my Midrange Hunter deck list (I'm currently at rank 9):
I've been chided for my choice of Hungry Crab, but in this Murloc-heavy meta, I wouldn't leave home without it.
Forgive me, friend. I have failed.
