Typical hunter decks use beast synergy and early game. Unfortunately, the cards are weak in the current meta. Alleycat, Kindly Grandmother, Rat Pack, and Infested Wolf all provide low-health minions. These are weak against heavy use of AoEs in the meta. So, this deck provides a high health alternative. This results in far fewer hunter class cards being played (just half the deck)
Control hunter is perhaps the worst variant of control right now. Hunter AoEs are weak and value is lacking. Whenever I try to build control hunter, I'm stuck wondering what the endgame is. Do I throw in Elise Starseeker to sometimes win by RNG? Do I try Lock and Load for another random option? Do I rely on scary (but slow) neutral legendaries like Ragnaros the Firelord or N'Zoth, the Corruptor? Just don't do it. Fight the current meta on the basis of tempo and damage -- that's the game that this deck can win
Fine points about the deck:
There are a lot of high health and sticky minions in this deck. This helps you stay on the board, unlike typical hunter decks running 1-3 health minions
Crazed Alchemist offers good burst damage with high health minions. Make sure to take it into account when calculating lethal. One of my favorites is using it on Shieldbearer when a Dire Wolf Alpha or Leokk buff is active
It's okay to eventually lose board control and go face. There's a lot of burst damage in this deck. The high end offers great top-decks: Azure Drake, Leeroy Jenkins, King Krush
The main Sir Finley Mrrgglton hero power choices are warlock (to sustain the hunt) and paladin (supports board presence). Other hero powers are situational and depend on the match-up
Worst match-ups are Reno Jackson / Kazakus control decks when they draw board clears along with the strong 'highlander' cards (e.g., priest, mage, warlock) -- this weakness is common across aggro decks
I would be glad to engage in constructive discussion and answer questions. Hopefully, this helps some players. I don't really care about publicizing my decks -- I already greatly enjoy the process of creating new decks.
OK serious question first: How much did you climb with this?
Depends on what you run into on ladder. I have a strong win rate in match-ups that are not 'the worst'. Similar to other decks, it depends on what you're running into on ladder. You don't want to queue Jade Druid into Aggro Shaman. You can lose as Aggro Warrior against Reno Mage when they find their outs.
not sure if you are able to blend it with part of my concept but check out some of the ideas I have in here for hunter. The combo's are insane. I'm still in play testing and development for the deck. But it seems to be a big hit on here. Here it is....Screw a Wall. Build a Kodo.
The meta has become extremely fast. This is a hyper, low mana curve deck to fit in the current meta.
Beast hunter has weak, slow synergies. In this deck, you usually have a variety of minions out by turn 3. Buff beast hunter is slowly preparing combos or putting out single threats during these high-impact early turns. If you miss your synergies, you're left with clunky options that result in devastating tempo consequences for the rest of the game. Cards such as Alleycat, Kindly Grandmother, Rat Pack, and Infested Wolf are the best that beast hunter has to offer (and may be strong with other support and/or a different meta), but they are heavily punished by Maelstrom Portal, Volcanic Potion, Demonwrath, Swipe, and Fan of Knives. I find beast hunter to be weaker and less consistent on the whole in the current meta.
Secrets are fun, but weak. They are very conditional (though strong in the perfect situations). Let's talk about the traps. Snake Trap has the same AoE issues as mentioned for beasts above. Snipe may benefit tempo *if you hit a crucial single minion*, but reduces your consistency in drawing and playing minions (crucial to this tempo-oriented deck). Though Bear Trap provides a minion, it does so on the opponent's turn, allowing them to deal with it -- it also has similar tempo drawbacks as you've played a spell that does not immediately impact the board rather than a minion. Cat Trick is very similar to Bear Trap but with a stickier summoned stealth minion. Explosive Trap has best value when the opponent's board is large (with small health) and they're not trading into your board -- a situation that is easy to play around. Freezing Trap is a strong tempo play against decks with single minions -- not ideal for a hyper meta. Overall, I've found that players understand hunter secrets very well, so you tend to not get good value. Also, there's the immense drawback of playing or holding a spell in your hand rather than playing a minion on the board.

Thanks! I think it's important to try all kinds of decks to explore the boundaries of what's effective.
This deck is especially focused on addressing the current hyper meta. It's very hard to fit in combo-oriented and buff synergies in this environment. My take on slower synergy decks is that you must have a capability for control -- usually consisting of strong AoE -- otherwise, you can be very weak to the prominent aggro decks. If you draw well and hit your synergies, it feels great, but how consistent is it? If it's not consistent, then perhaps the other (non-combo, non-synergy) half of the deck must buy you enough time to draw and play your combos and/or synergies. It's a difficult balancing act to achieve. I have a similar issue in combo/synergy varieties of priest, rogue, etc. that I've tinkered with.
I meant to ask how much you specifically climbed with this deck on ladder not how much one can climb
There are a lot of variables to how well an individual can climb and I care more about a constructive discussion about the deck than merits of an individual. It's strange to me to ask flat questions about a deck without considering specifics of match-ups. For instance, I've greatly enjoyed crushing Aggro Warrior by controlling the board and putting taunts in way of their face damage. I'll answer this way:
Do I believe this is the best hunter deck in the current meta? Yes. This is why I created it -- to fight for hunter's place in this hyper meta.
Is it possible to make hunter the dominant class in the current meta? No. But, this deck gives you a fighting chance.

Dude are you daft or something? I was asking till what rank you've climbed with this deck. Even i could make a jade druid post and say it's the best deck in the game if you don't face aggro shaman/pirate warrior

I searched through hunter decks on this website before posting this. There's no deck like this. Check out the overlap between this deck and the many other hunter decks. Your claim that anyone could construct a deck that performs well in certain match-ups and share it is obviously wrong.
When considering the ladder meta and climbing stats, how much data is enough data? Do you take evidence from an individual regardless of how lucky or unlucky their match-ups were? Do you need to rely on authority of the deck builder because you feel more comfortable with social vetting? Instead, let's have a constructive discussion about how well a deck performs in which match-ups and why. This deck provides a hyper, low cost mana curve for hunter that gives a chance in the current meta. Think and converse -- ad hominems are a waste of time.

No offense but you're not going to get support through that. Pretty much to most people it's "rank or GTFO". The fact that you're evading his question doesn't give people confidence in your deck. Essentially, you need to prove something with your deck before people will take it seriously. You can theorycraft all you want about a deck and its matchups, but if it's not effective in the meta and you're not getting wins, it's not worth playing. If you haven't ranked with it at all, come back when you have more experience with the deck or you're just going to get negative responses.

We get it. You did your analysis and know a couple of fancy words. Now stop answering like a politician and tell us how much you climbed with this deck? Disregarding the question leads us to the assumption it's performing horribly and is a waste of our time.
Face to Face, till what rank did you climb with this deck?
Dude I'm asking you a simple fucking question. What rank have you climbed to with this deck? This has to be a ranked deck because you're saying it's good for the meta but you provide 0 stats and just theorycraft.
Points taken, concepts cleared, and diplomatic answers intention versus hard facts seeking won't get us anywhere as the discussion went south.

You can't harass members who play Face Hunter, nor are they compelled to make preemptive apologies or justifications for playing it. They don't hack or crack their opponents' game, they simply play existing cards that form a specific deck. If you suck at countering Face Hunter, you should blame the designers, not the community.

I've thought a bit about weaknesses of hunter in the current meta and this deck is the result of my efforts. Please see the full deck description at: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/728221-healthy-aggro-counter-meta-camel

How is this better than a beast/secret hunter?
