OK - show me tangible proof that achieving high ranks in this game isnt based on matchups & the "hot deck"? Everyone is playing the same decks on ladder. We ALL know whats coming and when. Its not nuclear physics. So, when most all else is equal the only remaining factors are starting cards, draws, and various other RNG aspects. And, before you say "that all equals out", Id ask WHEN? Whats the magic number of games until Im gauranteed to stop getting bad starting cards or whatever?
As an example - I just played 3 straight games with midrange Paladin and ALL fucking 3 games my starting hand included Tirion, equality, and one other usless card. Got run over ALL 3 games. Conceded by turn 4. Ya telling me one of those Youtube clowns would have "skiled" their way out of it? Nope. DEAD. No cards - You LOSE.
The gane has its moments of being fun and honestly Im on vacation for a the next few weeks and have nothing better to do. Believe me Im looking for a new card game that isnt so effing dependent on10 different things to go right.
To achieve higher ranks in this game (legend for example), in the most effective way, you have to understand the current meta first, and choose your deck according to that. It is not only about chosing one of the most popular deck out there and being lucky man...
OK - but....when the meta is loaded with such specific "This deck beats that deck but not other decks", WTF do ya do? Tech for aggro only to face reno-lock BS? Tech for late game and get run over by Shamans and Tempo Mages? What is the "consistent" deck then?
I understand the meta. Ive been playing a lot over the last few months and its the same damned thing: Oops, wrong matchup. Ive watched the youtube vids of various players and interestingly they rarely make a play that I wouldnt have or not made a play I would have if that makes sense. Ive tried to "git gud" as the clowns around here say. But, what am I "getting good" at actually? Drawing well? Catching a string of favorable matchups which gets me through the ladder fast? Ive tried Midrange Paladin, Druids, everything. Always seems like I win when I get decent cards and lose when I dont. What the hell else is there? care to explain or provide meaningful data that the game isnt just a casino? My data says it is, for the most part. Thats fine... but it should be advertised as a casino game, LOL.
Pick a deck learn it to the point where you don't even have to think about the plays, they are just like muscle memory. Stick with that deck and only that deck, learn it's match ups. Learn what beats it, learn how it beats other decks. Know every option, learn to recognize decks after the first 2 or 3 card drops. When you get to that point that is when the the RNG starts to even out over a long series of games. That is when you know how to combat a bad hand. That is when you start to win the matches that could go either way, That is when you stop making stupid mistakes you didn't know you were making. That is what people mean by "git gud"
That all sounds great and Im down with trying just one deck. I was going to make that "one deck" Druid since its fun and I like the class. But, my goodness.... it gets run OVER by anything aggro and theres quite a bit of that on the ladder right now. So, for example, say I stay with Druid. What would I "tech in" to help with aggro? Another Living roots? How about Robo cub due to the taunt? The problem of course is that these cards dont really "fit" into a midrange druid deck, do they?
Ive been playing mid druid for a while now and my bitching is because the deck is just too damned slow! Sure, I look like a pro when I Innervate into some crazy ass big minions on turn 3. I win, all the time WHEN that happens. But, if I start slow against even a secret Paladin.... forget it. Down to like 17 health in a hurry. Them against Control Warrior.... nothing seems to work. They have like 150 armor it seems, LOL. Just run out of steam in those games. Alex or Ysera come out and Druid has NO answer for either.
I think OP is a troll, the other day he made a thread about how bad midpala is
Its not doing that well right now on the ladder games Im getting stuck with. Secret Pally KILLS it. Aggro shaman does too. Control Warrior and Renolock are 50/50. Show me how good it is. What, did some website say so? Yeah, that means a lot, LOL.
It's just hard to believe. You seem like you know enough about this game that you shouldn't struggle with 2 of the best decks out there (in my opinion mid druid is the best deck to ladder right now because of all the renolocks out there and the ability to "cheat" out some games with strong innervate plays)
Maybe your sample size is not big enough to evaluate those decks?
My opinion about matchups is based on experience and understanding of the game.
How big of a sample size do I need? Reno locks win all the time.... what the hell do you do against that crap? Dont find it hard to believe... its true. I cant win a god damned fucking game as of late. My hands are TERRIBLE. How do you play better when you have to hero power on turn 4 or 5 because your hand is loaded with FoN, Ancient of Lore and Savage roar? Or have NO minions to play until turn 3 or 4? No innervate is almost a concede for me at this point. Druid is soooooooo slow otherwise. While your "waiting" to play your big guns your oponent is hammering your face. What the fuck? LOL.
I dunno - This is BS though. I got down to Rank 6 and am back to 11 and falling fast. Every. Fucking. Game. I. Have. No. Fucking. Cards. Blizzard owes me a refund. Im pissed I have invested $$ into the game. If I had known then what I know now I wouldnt have bothered or would have stopped at the baic card set or whatever. Now I feel compeled to play due to having some cash into the game. Not a ton but enough that I hae to try and get my moneys worth.

You're so far on tilt that you have no idea how far you've lost control over your ability to play this game. Go do something else for awhile then come back and see if you can see the mistakes you're making.
And by the way, saying you want to find a card game that isn't so "random" may be the funniest thing I ever see HS players say.

Is tilt what we call not getting cards? Thats fine if thats what Im on or whatever. I was told that the bad draws and rng "balances out" eventualy. Still waiting on a timeframe for eventually. Thats OK, its fun now. At Rank 12 and going backwards. Amazingly I was at Rank 6 when I was getting decent cards. Im shooting for Rank 20 now!!!
And, it would be VERY possible to limit someof the RNG of this or any other card game. Let us chose one starting card at least. Get rid of cards that have massive RNG associated with them. So much could be done. Dont act like it cant...its that they wont. Fine, but its wont not cant.

Being "on tilt" means "being so angry at the outcomes of previous hands/games that you don't play clearly." You're so mad right now that when you play you're blaming the cards and RNG and the opponents and Blizzard and...everything but the fact that maybe you're so pissed that you're not thinking clearly in-game. Go play something else for a few days or hike or watch TV or something. But HS is probably not your best option right now since all you're doing is losing and getting angrier about it, yet not do anything to change your play while raging at the world.
HS has a lot of RNG. It's never been clearer, and it's the whole basis of their game and why it's only an online game. But every card game is an RNG fest, from Go Fish to Magic to Poker. Complaining that someone else's RNG is better than your RNG is pointless. You might be 2-standard deviations from average in your card draws, but it's far more likely that either your decks are not adapted to the meta or your play isn't. Which goes back to "take a beak". If the current meta is supporting decks you don't like to play or to play against, go play something else. If the people who play druid are successful and you are not, go take a break. If you're so mad that you think you need a refund because you aren't winning as much as you want, go take a break.
OK - show me tangible proof that achieving high ranks in this game isnt based on matchups & the "hot deck"? Everyone is playing the same decks on ladder.
There are people who make legend with tier 2-3 decks all the time. It's not about playing the hot deck or just getting good matchups, it's about taking a deck and building it to beat the current meta decks and just playing it. I easily made it to legend with midrange paladin during the grim patron craze. I even had a positive winrate against patron which was my worst matchup. It's all about teching the deck right and knowing exactly how to play it. You won't win every game, but luckily you don't have to to make legend.

Have you ever tried to reach high ranks with a t3 deck or are you just talking ? "People who make legend with t2-3 decks" doesn't mean nothing, because if they reach rank 1 and "climb" to legend with a t2-3 deck (and i saw that a lot of times) they don't do just nothing. I tried last season climb with a dreadsteed deck from rank 18 and got rank 7 but STOP, you just can't reach higher rank because all people plays t1 or MAYBE t2 decks and so what ? You know, you are against all aggro shit. But the topic say "Do any druid decks actually works ?" so obviously yes, beacuse in all seasons we'll see druid in t1 and t2 for that shitty combo.
I played S19 Mech Warrior rank 25 to legend with like a hundred wins total. Mech warrior didn't even make it on the list as a Tier 1-4 deck at that time.

The savage roar FoN combo makes a few deck not only viable but also top tier. What is this thread about !?
This thread is about that the OP wants to blame everything except his skill as the reasons he's losing.
Right. Maybe its the fact that these Druid decks are EXTREMELY dependent on growth & innervate. If you start with 5+ cost cards several games which I have you will LOSE and lose badly. Sorry but thats the deal. And, the skil cap in the game is made low on purpose and thats a fact. Blizzard wants it that way. So, lets not get all hasty, eh?
For example - I just actually won a game using a midrange Druid deck. Amazingly, I had some decent cards to start and used growth to enable me to Swipe his Muster & shieldbot. Next turn? Belcher. Then, Thaurissan and the posse came out. He couldnt ever establish a board after that. Just saying.
Bro, do you even know how to play midrange paladin? I personally have never lost to secret pally, aggro shaman or control warrior with Mid Pally. HOW DO YOU EVEN LOSE TO CW WITH ANY PALLY, LET ALONE WITH MIDRANGE PALADIN!! Maybe you make Rank 25 plays and blame the loss on your RNG.
And now you ask if ANY druid deck works when EVERY druid deck is good in the meta. Like WTF?!?! Troll OP confirmed.
Isn't this the same guy complaining about the Aggro Shaman?
Anyway saying that Druid's deck don't work shows me how ignorant you are about this game. Druid has so many ways to be play that sometimes is hard to prepare for it and all his versions are competitive (Combo, Midrange, Aggro, Egg, etc).
Yeah sometimes the mulligan can determine a game but there's always a way to comeback, specially with Druid and his freaking combo.

Same way you play most midrange decks. On curve and with board control in mind. Dont make it out to be complicated. I know you guys want to believe that this is some Incredibly complex game that only the Gifted can master. It isnt. Troll Confirmed? Are you the official governing body for "Trolling"? If so, how did you get so good at it? ;)
Dont make it out to be complicated. I know you guys want to believe that this is some Incredibly complex game that only the Gifted can master. It isnt.
You're right, it isn't, but you do generally have to be good at the game to get to high ranks. There are differences in play between a rank 15 player and a rank 5 player, and if you play like a rank 15 player and make the mistakes that they make you will always float around rank 15. You don't have to be a genius, but you do have to know the game pretty well.
One thing that a lot of players don't realize is the plays they make that they think are the correct plays are actually mistakes. I just helped a guy the other day that was stuck at rank 10 and couldn't figure out why, it was because he was using his resources at the wrong time and not getting full value. He legitimately thought he was playing the deck correctly, but he wasn't. Just a couple small changes to his plays and now he is rank 7 and climbing. If you are playing a known top tier deck and you struggle to get to the upper ranks then the problem is most likely you, not the deck. With that in mind you should watch known players play the deck you are playing and see what they do differently. Also, when you are playing constantly question each and every play, make sure that it is the best play and that your resources are not being wasted.
Even the smallest change can make a huge difference. If you make a single play different out of ten games, and that play gets you the win instead of a loss, then you just upped your winrate by ten percentage points which is huge.
I'm not trying to belittle you or anything, I'm trying to help you.

Well, a little help is a refreshing response so thats cool. I just find that getting off on the wrong foot is brutal and I often concede fairly early once I see that they have a board and I dont. I also find Druid decks to be sloooooooow. It seems like the deck needs a very positive starting hand or its uphill from there.
For the record I was at Rank 6 using a midrange Paladin deck & a midrange Hunter deck. Everything was going fine. Now Im at Rank 12 and Im supposed to believe I suddenly cant play anymore? So, for me to get to Rank 6.... how did that happen? Did I just get lucky? Apparently so.

I dunno. Its crazy.
One thing to keep in mind is that midrange Paladin and midrange Hunter decks are easier to pilot that midrange Druid (at least in my experience). Also, Druid doesn't play the same way as they do so your playstyle has to also change.
Same way you play most midrange decks. On curve and with board control in mind. Dont make it out to be complicated. I know you guys want to believe that this is some Incredibly complex game that only the Gifted can master. It isnt. Troll Confirmed? Are you the official governing body for "Trolling"? If so, how did you get so good at it? ;)
Relax there Skippy. :)
Obviously if you were playing the decks(s) the right way, you wouldn't be losing the matchups that your deck is favoured against...
So obviously you're playing it wrong. It can only be one of the two - You're stupid or you're a troll. Simple :)
Chess is overrated. At the very high level it is a game of memorization. That equals not fun to me. Go is a much better game imo.
2nd time in a couple of days you feel the urge to talk shit about chess and chess players. Draughts player spotted.
@OP: just keep playing a handful of good tier 1 and tier 2 decks (max three to five decks) until you perfectly know their MUs, their strengths and their weak spots, your chances to draw certain cards within the next couple of turns and many other factors: by having a deeper understanding of those decks you may realize it's just a couple of small/minimal missplays every game that are keeping you down.
No I just find Chess dull and overrated. If I must play a 2 player abstract strategy game I much prefer Go.

Stupid? Because Im getting crappy cards in a game thats heavily weighted towards RNG and luck? Whos the stupid sounding one now? You're probably the type that claims a lotto winner is a "skilled number picker". hahahahha Mad skilz brah!
Im playing the decks fine. The decks arent perfect and the flaws get exposed against the right matchups. Warlocks are severly OP right now and beating them takes an act of God. Lets see proof that you're any good at the game. Of course no one has any except for cherry-picked videos and cut/paste screenshots. Right. :)
I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D
I was going to try to give you a real answer...but then I read this last post.
You're so far on tilt that you have no idea how far you've lost control over your ability to play this game. Go do something else for awhile then come back and see if you can see the mistakes you're making.
And by the way, saying you want to find a card game that isn't so "random" may be the funniest thing I ever see HS players say.
I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D
Midrange Druid won't ever not be good. It just has too much powerful stuff at every point in the game to ever disappear.

Yeah the most broken class in the game doesnt work
