I just reached legend with this version of Guardian Druid running no Old Gods. I have serious doubts as to how important they really are, especially for the Guardian archetype. Did people slam in double old gods for the right reasons?
I mean, honestly, ramping into Ysera is all you really need.
Pull a free 12/12 out of your deck every other turn? You only need to connect face with a couple of those to win the game, nevermind the other cards you're actually playing.
I think the old gods are more fun than they are practical, for most decks. But this one in particular seems like it can run Yshaarj by itself without sacrificing too much, right?
The thing is, I believe cutting anything in this would lose you more games than Y'Shaarj would win you. I never saw Y'Shaarj be a factor in mirror matchups, which is puzzling.
Yes, Ysera is good, but only really important vs priest. Vs other decks, you can win by applying the right amount of pressure and playing well around AOE and removal.
Y'Shaarj is indeed too slow I guess. If you get to the point where you played corrupted clowns then you are probably winning anyway... But is 2xWild Growth and 2xInnervate so crucial? Wouldn't some more early game removal like Lunar Eclipse be more useful in the current meta?

I checked the numbers, and actually yes. This deck is all about playing Guardian Animals asap, and those cards help a lot with that plan. Turn 1 Nature Studies into turn 2 WG is a very strong opening. WG also helps to draw for dragons late game.
The meta is actually a bit slower now, and in my experience, a quick GA is the only way to beat Evolve shaman, which is the current meta tyrant.
The really important thing is ramp.2x cenarion ward + strongman/anubisath can easely replace value of GA.u just need to do that before shaman highrolls .
I played a lot of GA druid lately, and i can tell u for a fact that one Survival is more than enough, and 2x cenarion wards are core.
the VIP of this deck is Strongman, belive it or not :)

So I am playing a similar build since 2 days, with 2 copies of Crystal Power replacing 1xInnervate and 1xWild Growth. The deck has been performing extremely well (13-4 so far from plat10 to diamond 6 currently) and I wouldn't change a single card. You definitely don't need any of the old gods. Yogg is anyway too random and not good enough and Y'Shaarj is way too slow and greedy (if you corrupt and play Clowns once you have won the game 90% of the time anyway). I read the VS meta report that claimed Druid is unplayable, partly because it loses badly to the most popular decks (Evolve Shaman and Combo Rogue), but franky I don't see it. Sure, Evolve Shaman can be a tough matchup (I have only faced 2 of them and I am 1-1 so not enough of a sample size), but Rogues are very beatable as they aren't fast enough to kill you by t5 (unless Edwin shit happens) and they don't have good ways to deal with your summoned beasts + 0-mana big taunts
