Obviously Cairne is the better choice for the versatility of putting him in decks outside of Druid, but I'm wondering which one I'd want to craft first for a more successful Druid deck. (Currently a big fan of both token and ramp decks.)
One of the decks I've been looking at making: (Only missing Cenarius.)
I don't have Cenarius and honestly I don't miss him at all. It definitely feels like a "win more" card that does not turn things around in a pinch. (disclaimer: I do not have the card but have never wished in a game geee I wish I had Cenarius right now). If you don't have all your legendaries I would not waste your resources crafting a meh druid legendary. I'd definitely recomend to craft Carine Bloodhoof. He is great in all kinds of decks and is always annoying when my opponent plays him in the mirrior match. I always find myself sitting there being like..hmm ok, how long can I ignore this guy?
In my opion TBK is the real VIP that I couldn't live without (unless you are facing almost exclusively agro even then he's ot a terrible draw later on when you are moping up).
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I think I'll likely be crafting Cairne next, and I agree that Cenarius really isn't required as a "win condition" in most situations, (also very slow) and Cairne is not only a fantastic early Innervate play, but has the versatility to be put into any other deck.
After playing druid for the last 2 seasons and having it as my favourite class I would say Cenarius isn't the best choice. In token decks he is quite slow as people point out and he is also just not very good. I often found him to be a dead card in my hand and only really played him a few times before I swapped him for a 2nd Ancient of War.
Cairne is great. He is probably one of the best legendaries out there and as you said fits in almost all control decks.
It is rather old but I managed to get it to rank 11 on my 2nd season playing (only played in the last few days). You may want to change it a little bit to account for what you are playing but I would recommend it (It also contains Cairne)
Yeah, it seems Druid decks that build around Ancient Watcher are pretty outdated in the current meta, so I wouldn't be too keen on creating one of those nowadays. (Mostly because of the absolute powerhouse that the Force of Nature + Savage Roar combo brings, and watcher Druid isn't particularly built around it, and is quite reliant on the right draws at the right time to make use of your Ancient Watchers.)
P.S. I managed to climb to rank 4 last season alternating between ramp and token Druid, so it's had more consistent success for me overall.
While I currently own the legendaries Bloodmage Thalnos, The Black Knight, Leeroy Jenkins and Ragnaros the Firelord, I've been looking at a decent amount of Druid decklists lately that run Cenarius, and I'm wondering if it would be more wise to invest dust into him or Cairne Bloodhoof.

Against the decks I play Cenarius is too slow (freeze mage, handlock).
Most times my opponent plays Cenarius I feel I make lethal next turn. If I don't they would normally have won without it.

most of the decks used by the top players in ladder and tournaments use Cenarius though

Realz was playing watcher druid w/ FON + SR combo last night and went on a pretty good run 50+ legend. Never played it myself.
