I actually started out along the same line of thought and built a C'Thun Wall Druid deck.
2 Innervate 2 Wild Growth 2 Wrath 1 Mulch 2 Mire Keeper 2 Swipe 2 Druid of the Claw 1 Nourish 2 Dark Arakkoa 2 Ancient of War
2 Beckoner of Evil 2 Twilight Elder 2 C'Thun's Chosen 2 Crazed Worshipper 1 Emperor Thaurissan 1 The Black Knight 1 Twin Emperor Vek'lor 1 C'Thun
However, I think you're onto something with Ragnaros instead of a second Ancient of War. Also, the 5-slot in this is a bit heavy (Mire Keeper changes the curve a lot!). However, Drakes and Living Roots might be a good idea, as well as Staghelm.
Also, I find that I like Mulch wayyy more than BGH now; it fills the "kill it or we lose" slot very well. BGH at 5 just crowds the slot and doesn't have many good comeback plays.
After some intense testing, I've compiled the decks that I've been playing against From most to least..
#1 shaman smorc (literally play this like every other game)
#2 warlock new zoo
#3 yogg mage
#4 priest cthun, I haven't even come close to losing against this.
#5 paladin aggro? Midrange? Deathrattle? No clue but this deck has popped up a few times.
Last place druid cthun/rogue cthun
I've played maybe 30 or so matches, given the current deck types I've been facing I've made some changes. I've found that 90% of my games I've had BGH sitting in my hand waiting for a target and their just isn't one.
Of all those decks, only 1 plays a bgh target other than cthun himself. Which is shamans 7/7 and it's not even that good of a removal turn if you bgh.
First post ever on HP! I just post here because I am so hyped by this decklist, that I needed to talk about it.
I had an idea, but i'm not sure if it's worth it. So tell me about it.
In case we keep Fandral Staghelm, would it not be awesome to get Cenarius? I was just wondering in wich order the "choose one" works on this one ( coulnd't find any answer), but in the case you already have one or 2 minions on board, including Fandral, this would give you minimum 1x 5/8 and 2x 4/4, and it's really damn cool.
The deckbeing ramp, it's more likely for you to get at least 1 or 2 surviving minions before turn 9. So, even if the "choose one" works the bad way, it will still be value.
I think Cenarius fits perfectly in the way your deck works (ramping big taunts, then C'Thun as a finisher)
ps: sorry for my poor english, i'm a stupid french :3
After testing fandral with seksi, we came to the conclusion it just didn't have the impact we were looking for. There was one SUPER sick play he did involving fandral into nourish into azure drake. Other times against his opponents he told me he would have just rather had something else in its place. Due to not reaching 10 attack on c'thun as fast as he wanted to. He decided in the end to cut him.
My opinion on the card after playtesting for a few hours is it's way to situational, you will never get fandral into cenarius, it's just not going to happen. Seksi's deck is already heavy on taunts so cenarius isn't going to have as big as impact as ragnaros which has been PRETTY clutch for both me and him from what he has told me.
Great to hear how well the deck is performing for you! Thanks for your comments. I will reply to them when I have time later today or tonight, some interesting thoughts here.
The deck is gaining momentum! If you could, go up vote it if you haven't already!
Worked similarly great for me too 15 > 8 with no losses. Started straightaway without Fandral, as per your suggestion on the deck page (and yeah, I never had a situation "wish i had Fandral now").
Only tricky matchup for me was C'thun priest (1-2), another loss was to face shammy due to terrible draws. Everything else was quite easy as soon as you ramp up to 5, and start putting down taunt after taunt. I do think I'll replace Sylv with TBK after all, but at a later stage most likely. Rag is MVP here.
Hey Darkis,
C'Thun Priest can be tricky, but usually we have an advantage due to an abundance of 4-attack minions that priest has a hard time dealing with (C'Thun's Chosen, Azure Drake, Druid of the Claw). I think it's important in this match up to attack their face and apply pressure as much as possible, since they have great healing and end game cards like Entomb. I agree with you that Rag is MVP!

Thanks for your play testing and feedback! It is an interesting point to run without a Big Game Hunter. It can be game breaking if unable to remove an opposing C'Thun, but as you said there aren't many other BGH targets right now. I'm looking forward to your reporting back.

Awesome man. Welcome, glad you are having a great time with it! Let me tell you, I really like Cenarius. I used to play him in the early seasons and sparingly later. His synergy with Fandral is indeed awesome. He would summon two 4/4s with Taunt, plus give all of your other creatures +2/+2. It's worth trying for sure, but for now Fandral Staghelm has been cut =(.
I'm having SO MUCH success with your updated deck (no adjustments), right now my winrate is around 80-90 percent! Granted, I'm rank 13 at the moment due to not having played at all this month, but the climb with this deck is so easy right now. I hope the meta doesn't adapt soon. I guess a lot of people will be running black knight very soon! Awesome deck concept, thank you so much.
Very cool, cascade617. I think people will (and are) starting to run The Black Knight more often. Aside from Druid, the Shaman decks have Thing from Below and other C'Thun decks run Twin Emperor Vek'lor. The deck can still withstand TBK. Check back for any upcoming changes to the deck, I am constantly tweaking it and testing different builds.
I'm finding the ramp part of this deck very very unnecessary, the deck is very strong and every game i find myself with either one innovate or both in my hand usually using it just to 2 mana hero ability i also found mire keeper very weak so switched one out for crazed worshiper, currently 11 - 1.
Also thinking of sacking off nourish but deck as it is now hasn't lost so not sure what for yet maybe black knight.
Ninno20, to play this deck without the ramp is going away from its core values. Wild Growth and Innervate are key to 'cheating out' your bigger minions to play from ahead. I disagree about Emperor Thaurissan, he has been terrific. An example that combines both thoughts is the chance where you can innervate or ramp out an early Thaurissan, cheating your entire hand one mana and forcing a removal. He makes your following turns that much better.
I will say Nourish is a card that may or may not be needed. It is very good in control match ups (making up for Ancient of Lore), but not so good in the match ups that we have the most issues with. If it was removed, I fear there wouldn't be enough of a reliable draw engine. Something to test. Thanks for your comment.
I also dropped Wild Growth so I can run both Klaxxi and Mire. The later can still Ramp and because of many early drops in C'Thun Druid I often find myself not using Wild Growth at all (it at least becomes card draw in the later game).
If you must, I would drop a different card like Sylvannas Windrunner, 1x Living Roots, or Big Game Hunter. Wild Growth is essential to the theme of this deck... and still not a dead card late. You should be doing a hard mulligan for Wild Growth and Innervate. In some cases you can keep Living Roots, or a four-drop if you have Wild Growth.
I don't think I like Crazed Worshipper much, surely not for Emperor. Maybe instead of a Nourish if card draw isn't a problem. I like the TBK change, I am currently trying that one as well. Doomcaller for AoW is interesting... I think Doomcaller could be better in a control match up. Ancient of War is a great card however, even better now that silence is rare.
so I have had the luck of getting Fandral out of a pack, but I have neither Ragnaros nor the Twin Emperor. Right now I am a little torn, because there is currently no meta. In my experience every somewhat working deck performs above average at the moment, due to the fact that most players on the ladder don't care, since we're close to the end of this season. Which is why I am still holding on to my dust. I don't want to craft something I might barely play in the future.
The good thing about those two cards missing is, that I had to experiment. I tried Fandral and I feel like he can work well in this deck, but you have to add a Raven Idol. Two aren't necessary imho, but without it Fandral feels kinda meh. The problem is cutting something from the list with both Rag and Emperor. The only idea I have is cutting one living roots and one mire keeper. Then again Fandral isn't at all important for this deck, so what's the point? The alternatives are just better I guess. A non-C'Thul druid deck however can greatly profit from Fandral imho.
Yeah, I think you are right in saying that if you run Fandral Staghelm, you need to run a Raven Idol. I haven't tested that much, but in theory maybe Nourish could be replaced by a Fandral and Raven Idol.
As to your crafting situation, while it is smart to wait a bit, Ragnaros the Firelord is one of the best Legendary minions in the game. He fits in many decks, and is even better now that BGH is less common.
Check back on the deck list here, http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/478188-og-cthun-druid-full-guide , for the latest changes and comments. I want to keep this thread going, but continue to leave your comments on the list as well to accelerate the momentum of the deck!
So yeah, Crazed Worshipper isn't worth it after playing with it for ~20 games. TBK proved to be quite useful, especially vs priests, mirror and anyone who runs the C'thun taunt enabler. Doomcaller is meh, imho, it's either a win more card, or an unreliable hail mary. I can see him work well for priest or warrior, but not in druid.
I'm not ready to part with Nourish yet, so I'll be testing with -emperor +TBK.
@Kane_009
Mate, you have no idea how much I wanted Fandral Staghelm to work in this deck, but unfortunately he's awkward to play if you want to get any real benefit out of him. Dream play would be him into Nourish, but it's either a pointless turn 9, risky 4>5 or tricky turn 7 with Emperor.
I also dropped Wild Growth so I can run both Klaxxi and Mire. The later can still Ramp and because of many early drops in C'Thun Druid I often find myself not using Wild Growth at all (it at least becomes card draw in the later game).
Really? I find Wild Growth more relevant in this deck than Fast.

I got Frandral in my free packs, so I run him in the deck ATM. From my little 30+ games experience, he's very good with little "choose one" cards more than the big one. He's not surviving very often, but the opponent always feels the need to remove him. This is great because if you have a follow up, either your Fandral survive and you make incredible value (Druid of the claw being ATM the best follow up (T5 + the choose one" combo), and if he dies, you still have a descent T5, and as the opponent wasted removals for your Fandral, you have more room for your big taunts :)
Thing is - you do have to cut something for him, and other 4 drops are more valuable in this list.
I've been having really great success using Arch-Thief Rafaam as a substitute for Ragnaros in the list. Out of the 20+ games that I've played, it has won me at least 3 games, especially during times when you need the extra time to draw C'Thun. All these are played around Ranks 10 to 8, so it might not be applicable higher up the list lol.
Mirror of Doom has been a really great card against your opponent if they have exhausted their AOE. The fact that in the C'Thun meta, this would mean 21 damage that doesn't hit your face if you are behind on the board.
You probably won't choose Timepiece of Horror because you got a minion that can do that :P Lantern of Power is good too if your opponent has exhausted their single target removals.
I'm testing out Fandral currently, so far I only managed to trigger his ability once out of the 3-4 games that I've played with him. :/
After playing a bit with my tempo-c'thun mage, I think it's worth it to add Brann. Turn ten brann > twins > c'thun is insane, and with ramp/innervates/emperor it can be cheated out way earlier. Need to think what to cut though, maybe 1 mire keeper?
The deck is still going strong. I have been a bit busy, but will provide the next update soon. I have been testing numerous variations, primarily to try and improve the deck against the most common matchups I see in the higher ranks (rank 5 thru Legend). I am facing Shaman, Zoo, and Tempo Mage a whole lot, and unfortunately those three decks have advantages over Druid.
I still feel this is the best Druid list. It performs exceptionally well, and even in the matchups we aren't favored in, we have a decent chance. The Mulligan is really important for Druid in general, you want to make sure you Mulligan correctly depending on the situation. More on this soon.
Stay tuned for the latest updates and changes I have been experimenting with. Please continue to post your experiences too! I play test with a friend of mine, but any additional information is always welcome. Don't forget to check the deck list for the latest updates and comments:
Agreed. This is the strongest Druid deck by far. The alternative is Staghelm/Beast aggro.
This is my current list:

2 Twilight Elder 1 C'Thun's Chosen 2 Azure Drake 1 Emperor Thaurissan 1 The Black Knight 1 Twin Emperor Vek'lor 1 Ragnaros the Firelord 1 C'Thun
Added 1 Staghelm, 2 Living Roots, and 2 Drake since my last iteration (took out 1 C'Thun's Chosen, 2 Beckoner, 2 Crazed Worshipper). Works pretty well. Glad to see you use Mulch now too. That BGH costs an awkward amount.
I sometimes get the feeling I need that second C'Thun's Chosen though. What would you cut to put it back in?
I've been experimenting with some other decks as the Meta is constantly evolving. Unfortunately for Druid, Aggro Shaman and Warlock Zoo are rampant and both have good match ups versus us.
I have made a couple new changes to this list that have been working well so far. I will update the deck list very soon!
Sadly, most of the solutions I am looking at involve changing to a C'Thun-less Fandral Ramp deck. I keep the Arakkoas, but that's just about it. I mean, really, Vek'lor is the only reason why the C'Thun variant is good, and it's inconsistent. I replace the Elders with Flame, Vek'lor with War, and Chosen with a utility card (Thalnos, Mulch, Feral Rage, Savage Roar... Chillwind Yeti).
@Suzuteo: Don't forget about C'Thun himself. A huge minion that clears the board or finishes the game while holding over 10/10 is amazing, he combos well with Ragnaros and his minions are good too.
The point is I don't have Vek'lor and most likely won't unpack him and I do have access to 2 AoW and do not wish to craft veklor
