Like many of you, I've been working on a C'Thun Druid list to run once the expansion hits. I've climbed to legend with different Ramp Druids in the past, usually preferring them over the more common Combo Druid lists. I have come to a final list that I believe will be great and would like to share it with you.
I think it's still to be determined if a silence is going to be needed. Originally, I made the list with 1x Keeper of the Grove (post-nerf). However, when Fandral Staghelm was announced I ended up cutting the Keeper for him.
Comparing the silence minions, the nerfed Keeper of the Grove is still better than a Spellbreaker or Ironbeak Owl in my opinion. While the body is weaker (2/2 vs 4/3), a Keeper provides you the ability to do 2 damage instead which is more helpful against aggro decks than the silence.
Check out the write up for the deck! I think the slot that Fandral is in is flexible. You can substitute it with a sIlence minion if you'd like.
Well I might just be rich enough to make part of this deck. I'll have Thaurissan and C'thun, then I need to remaining legendaries, BGH, and of course the WOG stuff. I'll have enough dust to make 2 legendaries and then the WOG stuff isn't hard to get from crafting and packs. Thinking of getting Fandral and Ragnaros because for 1 Ragnaros is a great legendary and for 2 Fandral is (imho) the best legendary that druid has and the best thing to happen to druid since the end of classic (we didn't get much in naxx, gvg, tgt and then brm card was decent and loe i honestly can't remember the card we got) Don't wanna invest in 2 legendaries from WoG cos then I'll lose too much when it rotates out, my plan is to only craft legendaries from expansions that i REALLY like and use other dust for classic where stuff doesn't change or disappear after 1-2 years
Will possibly try out this deck with maybe an MC tech instead of BGH and maybe second AoW for twin emp, ironbark for rag (REALLY not the same thing but eh might as well) and then an argent commander or sunwalker or maybe even priestess of elune for sylvanas.
I would recommend crafting Ragnaros the Firelord and Sylvanas Windrunner before any other legendary minions. They fit in a lot of different decks and are two of the most powerful cards in the game. I'm not sold on Fandral Staghelm quite yet. I believe he will be awesome, but I would hold off on crafting him if you are limited on dust until we truly know his strength.
For a substitution for Ragnaros, I would replace it with a Doomcaller. It's only a Rare plus fits the arch type.
Man, I can't wait to make this deck come Tuesday. Obviously Brann Bronzebeard has insane synergy with C'thun minions and C'thun himself. I'm considering to use him instead of Fandral Staghelm depending on how he works out.
One thing most people don't realize is that C'thun doesn't need to have huge stats, 12-15 attack is all you need for C'thun in ramp druid because you have so many other threats. I like this version a lot more than others running cards like Beckoner of Evil and Disciple of C'Thun. Which while great cards in other c'thun decks do not fit the ramp theme. You don't want to run 2 costing minions in a ramp deck.
I'm glad you have a section on your guide talking about this, Anyways great deck sir you earned my UP VOTE!
P.S Where are the other upvotes? lol Come on if your gonna neck deck it like me at least up vote it and give credit to this man :P
Interesting idea, to not have as many C'Thun buffers and instead focus on some Fandral Staghelm synergy. I do think that Fandral is a very powerful card, but I don't know how I feel about trying to mix a Choose One deck with a C'Thun deck. Still, I'm definitely gonna be trying out multiple varieties of C'Thuid to see what works best, and this is definitely on my list to try out.

I'm also very torn about Fandral Staghelm tbh. I don't think the card is nearly as good as the majority seems to think. However, I would include the exact same choose one cards in this deck, with or without him. What you realistically can expect, most of the time, is to get extra value out of Wrath or Living Roots. Is that enough? Maybe.
I find Amber Weaver too good to pass up, and I dislike 3-drops with Wild Growth, so Beckoner seemed better than Twilight Elder.
WIth so many big minions I prefer Aviana over Ragnaros. Not a big fan of the possibility of Rag hitting face in a defensive deck like this that can't burst them down reliably afterwards.
Feral Rage is tech against Freeze Mage, an obvious weakness for a deck without other heals or burst. Works well against other stuff too.
BGH, Sylvanas and Nourish seems too slow. The meta will slow down, but I still expect these to be near unplayable in many matchups, and I prefer reliability in a deck as slow as this.
Fandral is a possibility, but I want to see him in action first. He is really powerful with Living Roots and Wrath, but I don't expect this deck to be able to hold onto cards like that for comboing very reliably. The other cards are expensive and require at least 9 mana for a combo, or that he survives a turn. If a super slow deck can manage to stabilize enough for Fandral to live, you're probably winning anyway.
Thalnos is just awesome in Druid, spell power is great with all your damaging spell. Basically a smaller Azure Drake.
A card to consider is Mulch. Probably better Than BGH now that deathrattles are rotating. You don't really care about bad value since this deck runs enough fat cards to win most long games. You should easily be able to deal with their random minions in the late game.
I think I'd have to agree with others here about Fangral. A lot of potential, but I just can't that potential being fully used in a C'Thun deck. I'd much rather use Bran to act as another C'Thun buff.
I also have a slight concern with only having 1 3 drop, simply because of how awkward 3 mana can be without a Wild Growth on turn 2.
Like many of you, I've been working on a C'Thun Druid list to run once the expansion hits. I would say run either twilight elder or Cthuns chosen, but not both. The key for C'thun decks will be reliably buffing it to get the effects for Veklor and/or Klaxxi. In which, just 1 Elder + 1 Arakkoa will achieve.
I would rather have some sort of tech card in the deck to push tempo, since your wanting to go aggressive (ie MCT or Mulch) , and for an aggressive build BGH may be too slow... Turn 10 BGH will feelsbadman and float mana. Whereas turn 10 mulch (3) -> Vek'lor (7) will be a massive tempo swing
I do agree however, that klaxxi may not quite be the best card because of the 5 health (would be better at 8), and switching out for Fandral may bait out some early removal or snowball the game for us. Definately a flex slot.
Just a couple observations, pumped for tomorrow though to test out the builds
I think the way you play Fandral is not that you build your deck around him. You just play him alongside cards you would put into your deck even if he didn't exist. Like Wrath, Living Roots, Druid of the Claw etc. So you don't lose anything by playing these cards and sometimes you can combo them with Fandral and it's a huge tempo swing or insane value with cards like Raven Idol (Discovering 2 cards for 1 mana is insane) or in some rare cases Ancient of War becoming a 10/10 taunt for 7 mana (possible with Innervate or Emperor).
You don't lose anything by playing the cards that combo with Fandral, at least not those that you'd run anyway, but you do lose something if you run Fandral but can't reliably profit from his effect, since a vanilla 3/5 for 4 is extremely bad (especially with options in C'thun like Amber-Weaver.
Raven Idol is super slow but decent with Fandral (insane value, still just as slow), however as you said, you don't build your deck around him so you shouldn't include Idols anyway. A 10/10 Ancient of War is both hard to pull off and not that much better than a 5/10. Druid of the Claw is sick but usually requires Fandral to survive a turn, which can be hard unless you can play both on curve. Still relevant since this drastically increases Fandral's threat, especially on turn 4. Wrath is really good with him, and can probably be played on the same turn quite often. The big issue is that you typically need to use Wrath early on to take out key minions. Living Roots is ridiculous, definitely the best synergy, but again it's a card you are likely to use early on.
Are those last 3 cards enough to justify Fandral over a more individually powerful card? Maybe, I don't know. Brann is very similar in cost, effect and stat-distribution, and he sees some play in certain decks. However, Brann costs 3 and is therefore easier to drop together with another minion, which is a big deal.
Fandral is a bit too overhyped. He's strong in the right deck, but I don't think it's in every deck, just like Brann isn't in every deck that runs a few Battlecry minions.
Frandral Staghelm is not the type of card you build a deck around. He's the type you just include and he acts as 2 things. A soft taunt or a snowball affect the next turn.
Wether or not he's actually good, still has yet to be seen. But if he works as some of us think he's a better brann since they both have similar affects.
Mulch vs bgh, this one im also undecided on. Mulch is 2 mana cheaper easier to combo but has RNG and the potential even though small to make matters worse. BGH still provides a body on the board for a tempo swing, but is now harder to combo with. You could still easily, bgh + innervate twin emp for 3 minions and your opponent won't have a random minion in Thier hand.
Last but not least, cthuns chosen is arguably the best 4 drop neutral card atm. 4/2 divine shield that also benefits cthun? This card will almost always 2 for 1
Who doesn't want a 4 mana 4/15?^^ Or a 60/60 C'Thun? ;P

What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?

I find Klaxxi Amberweaver to be vastly overrated... It's a Yeti on curve and a Yeti with a bigger butt in late game, when your opponent can most likely ignore him. I wouldn't run it over Savage Combatant in any deck.
It can be a 4/10 on T4 if you just draw 2 of your early buffers first, not that unlikely as you have 5 of them!^^ (7 when you go 2nd)

Just saw trump look at your deck SEKSI... I still think The ideas in this thread will be vastly superior to trump (whether its your or mine). I really dont think trump needs 12 c'thun buffs... just seems overboard.
Like Trump said it will be seen how many buffs will be needed to get the effects of Vek'lor, klaxxi, etc to work... that will be key

I really like the idea of using a minimal amount of C'Thun minions -- only the best ones, in Druid at least. I believe this list (made possible by Dark Arakkoa) will be effective as a C'Thun Druid that doesn't rely on C'Thun as an all-in finisher.
In the past, Ramp Druid has been effective at creating an intimidating board; but they lacked burst damage. In this deck, C'Thun (in combination with Ragnaros the Firelord) delivers that burst damage. All of Druid's tools are still utilized (For example, Druid of the Claw is so much better than Crazed Worshipper). The idea is that the deck will have various weapons and plenty of firepower, creating a balance that other, more one dimensional C'Thun decks may lack.
I think Fandral Staghelm and C'Thun can co-exist well in this deck! But we will see, I'm eager to test it out.

Very similar to what I've got atm. Mine is:
- Fandral, BGH, Sylvanas, Ragnaros, Twilight Elder, Nourish
+ 1x Feral Rage, 1x Beckoner of Evil, 2x Amber-Weaver, 1x Thalnos, 1x Aviana
