This morning, I partook in truly breathtaking round in the Arena. My first fight, a truly masterful battle with an Anduin (good lad, healed me on turn 2), went off without a hitch... and then, probably drawn by the sounds of my repeatedly punching blondie in the face, I was thrown against Thrall and Uther. The former dealt 20 damage to me on turn 3, finished on 6, and the latter... ended up with a 20~/20~ Chillwind Yeti, and I'll leave it at that.
Alas, I had but one win under my belt when I turned that key... and somehow, in that single, lonely pack of cards I received, there were three golds -- Inner Fire, Headcrack, and Hogger. Perhaps the mighty Hearthgods had given me their blessings for beating that Anduin so badly that he's never sparkle the same way ever again... or maybe it was an apology for giving Thrall five 0-cost spells and a mana addict. Either way.
tll;dr -- got a golden Hogger, but not sure if I should keep him to show off or scrap him for 1600 dust (another legendary, potentially) Basically, you're getting 6/6 and a mini taunt from him and that's all. Played a few games with him just now, and every time he gets nuked the turn after he comes out. Not really worth it... so what should I do? Keep the shiny, or get the dust for another legend, or maybe some rares/epics..?
edit: I also would like to ask whether any of my four epics are better being scrapped than saved. I've got Murloc Warleader, Far Sight, Kidnapper, and Beastial Wrath.
he is Totally worth it he is so value and so scary he ALWAYS pulls a nuke out of there hands he allows another value card to Stick. and if you draw him after they have burnt there nuke all the better
The problem with hogger is that even if, by some miracle, he doesn't get nuked the turn he's played, his 2/2 tokens are too vulnerable to aoe's to be relied on. Still, I think you should keep him if you like late game control decks with lots of legendary threats.
I'll give you 2 examples of decks where Hogger works, one from Kutmasta1 and the other from darth verder.
Thanks for the builds, but eh... unless you're talking decks that are ~1,000 dust total to build, I'm not going to be able to use anything you suggest. Right now, ranked isn't a concern for me, so unless it's a build were Hogger works as the sole legendary, it's not gonna help much.
Greatly appreciate all the immediate replies, btw. I haven't seen answers this fast ever. At all. Good work, gang.

Unfortunately, Hogger is only competitive when complemented by a strong mid-late game star studded cast (Rag, Ysera, Cairne, Sylvanas, Alex, Black Knight, Tirion, Grommash, Al'Akir, etc.).
So if you don't have the dust or the desire to build a deck like that, it's best to disenchant.
If ranked isn't a concern for you, I assume you mainly play arena as well as do dailies? You could use that dust to get all the murlocs (I see you have that Murloc Warleader) and make a fairly effective Murloc deck for grinding. Also, once you get 1 of each murloc, you get the murloc legendary for free! (Not that he is incredibly fantastic or anything).
Well, I started only a few days ago. I wanted to get at least the "essential" cards needed to be somewhat effective before hitting up ranked... that does sound like a good plan though, getting Old Murk Eye. Was considering a murlock build
Here's a version I play. It's probably more dust than you currently have, so you could instead substitute 'must have' neutrals (Fairy Dragon, Harvest Golem, etc.,) for some of these cards as you build up your collection.
Also, remember what I'm asking here in the first place: dust Hogger, or keep him because EVENTUALLY he'll be useful?
Oh no, he absolutely won't be useful. DE now. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Summoning portals are too slow in this kind of aggro deck. You will end up with lots of unused mana in your tray. I don't know of any popular or effective decks that run the portals, but I think they would only be useful in a mid-game deck that wanted to push out some late-game fatties extra quick.
Hogger is now a pile of shiny dust. Thanks for the input.
Still would appreciate it if someone could tell me whether those 4 epics I have are best kept, or dusted
The thing with dusting cards is you will be kicking yourself later if you end up finding that you need it. That being said, no one plays Kidnapper, but it could end up being in a combo later (I intend to play around with them once I pull another). Far sight isn't used that often, and, along with the Kidgnapper, are your best candidates for dusting if you really need them. The other two are viable cards I would 100% keep, even if you aren't running decks that use them.

Thank you so much. That's all for now, then. End transmission.
