hi there. i was crafting Lightforged Cariel and Lord Barov for a libram deck, and i cant get that "big + infinite" feeling. before crafting more cards, i wanted to ask here about: Immortal Prelate
most decks I found are super old, so: you guys have any ideas wich interactions are still strong, which are too weak and which are new and useable. and how would you weight them?
1. Attack/health 10/10
a 1 attack minion will not save you in the long run. but cariel (maybe polkelt to pull her) will give prelate enough stats in the long run. so you dont need many of those buffs?
2. Infinite value 9/10
i like the idea that you have a constand stream of minions and that you are close to immune to fatique. desperate stand and gift of luminance ensure that enough prelates are available. does desperate stand make too many minions? how many copys do you aim for? 4-5?
3. Strongest Stats 9/10
a lot of late-game decks dont care if you play like a 8/8 minion on turn 10+, so you want some extra buffs on it. while taunt/rush/lifesteal all look super good. i feel, you dont NEED all of them. how do you value buff cards in general?
4. Taunt 5/10
nice to have and sometimes super strong. but can be compensated with lifesteal/rush, if you dont get it. a single sunfury protector can buff 2 minions at once for 2 mana. dont need much more then 1-2 of them?
5. Rush 8/10
having to much buff cards might be problematic, cause you missing removals. rush can somehow help with dangerous minions. broomstick is cheap and can buff many minions. but is not compatible with call to adventure?
6. Lifesteal 6/10
against aggro, face damag and fatique very good. not that usefull against otk decks.
1 copy of lightforged blessing is enough?
7. Card Draw 7/10
ideally, you want like 3-4 prelates in you deck (?) buffed with taunt/rush etc. Cariel will buff attack/health later on, so you want to cycle your deck pretty fast? card draw on prelate itself?
7.1 Draw specific cards
how do you feel about call to adventure and pokelt to draw your key cards?
8. Da Undatakah
looks funny. love him. but to expensive? you rather want cariel from polkelt?
9. Secondary stats
what about stats like: devine shield? maybe card draw? windfury?
10. Libram
they will just full your hand later on. so not usefull?
the reborn paladin quest looks kinda funny. a lot of sticky minions to fight aggressive decks? but needs to many cards in deck? Valanyr scales harder with prelate, but doesnt offer the protection like cariels weapon. and those buff interactions looks like they lag the game. cariel is just to good for that deck?
Hi I have some experience with immortal prelate so I'll try to answer your questions:
1a) If you depend on cariel to buff the prelate you should have a control heavy deck and the first option is highlander (with High Priest Thekal, Mountain Giant, Sir Finley, Sea Guide) which is probably the best.
3) If you play control you can take your time but burst buff like Righteous Defense can help a lot.
4) Spikeridged Steed can be fun and strong but only include 1 copy because it's bad in opening hand. Sunfury Protector doesn't give any buff and is handfill in the first 8 turns so I don't recommend.
5) Animated Broomstick is too slow since you can only play it turn 8+ in the control version.
11) Unfortunately, making mummies is way too slow. I have no experience with Val'anyr but the cariel weapon should be better.
I'll just add something that works for me: By using Drek'Thar and Call to Arms you can very reliably thin out your deck and put the prelate on the battlefield which makes them an ideal target for field buffs if they manage to survive a turn. It's a different way of playing (more like pirate warrior) but for me it kinda works.
2.a Desperate Stand was creating way to many copys. hard to cycle with and cant buff them reliable.
2.b Gift of Luminance was better. the minion is 1/1, but thats ok. best use it on prelate that has taunt and/or lifesteal allready imo. realy hard to use against priest. cause you cant trade it after you copy it (cause of devine shield). so the priest can silence always 2 of your prelates. and they always have 2 Shard of the Naaru. what a pain.
2.c i want to try zola. but need cut Drek'Thar then?
1.b Lord Barov and 2x Equality are super sticky in my hand. for you too? maybe i was just lucky, that i dont need them.
1.a have you tried both versions? 1. midrange and 2. low cost/cycle? drek that and call to arms seem strong but ill aim for midrange i think. for more options.
thank you again. i have a lot of fun so far with the deck. cheers
2b. Yes priest (and sometimes shaman with Devolve, Devolving Missiles) can be very annoying. Luckily, most other decks are kinda okay. The (only) way I found to bypass that is to tempo play for board so the opponent is forced to use silence before you play the prelate.
1b. You can consider cutting them because I suggested it with you not having much minions on board and right now it's dangerous for your own minions. Also I forgot to mention this but it'll always be useless against quest hunter.
1a. I personally play low cost/cycle but that's also because I lack some key cards for midrange.
hi there! thanks for the reply. im having tons of fun with those Prelates. my winrate is like 50% at platin rank, not amazing, but better then expected.
i crafted a second gift of luminance and i feel its working out better. the idea behind faceless manipulator was, to copy the high stats from prelate on top. but you usually dont have the time/mana to get the extra value. faceless manipulator also gets buffed from cariel, wich is kinda annoying.
1.1. i tried Carnivorous Cube. you lose all attack/health stats and lifesteal/taunt. but you get 2 more prelates for 1 card. only worth against priest i guess.
you can copy lifesteal from prelate with gift of luminance. so you often have 1 charge for emergency for free. this 1 charge is often enough to carry me into late-game.
3.1. Lord Barov. his normal attack and area affect both steal life. realy solid against big bords
i realy realy like this card for now. it works with call to arms. it cant die randomly. you can use equality while its dormant. it has stats like a 4 mana card. realy helps with transition into mid-game. solid mana cheat. early on, you can often attack twice. esp. with lifesteal.
super combo: you sometimes get swarmed early on. Ring of Courage and lifesteal on turn 4 can be a win-condition imo
with all the smal minions, you usually dont die early on. you fight for the board pretty often with like 10-20 health. i have not tested him a lot. but esp. with lifesteal, he looks amazing!
they all look realy strong. i have azshara and cariel and want to try them. but i feel its realy hard to fit them in. im focused on cycle right now. maybe the transition to midrange is not that hard. will try later on. thanks for suggestions.
ugh. i just found out that Psychic Scream will also ruin your buffs. together with mass dispell and all the other funny cards you can discover, im not even sure if i want to fight priest anymore with this deck.
if you put only 1 prelate on the board, your tempo is way to slow.
if you put 2 or even 3 on the board, you just get silenced. realy hard matchup. maybe you need to pressure as much as you can to have a smal chance
Priest will always be a pain though. I'd say you could go two options. Or you live with it and maybe use the deck in low ranks or go even more cycle heavy with Divine Favor combined with 1-cost minions. 1 copy of Gift of Luminance should be enough for this. You could use Murkwater Scribe into turn 3 Call to Arms if you want.
Last I checked, you could do something very funny with these 3 cards and something that gives taunt: Immortal Prelate[card], [card]Da Undatakah, Silver Vanguard. You can make an Da Undatakah with taunt that shuffles a copy of itself back into your deck and the summons itself when it dies. The version it summons keeps enchantments. It becomes an unkillable taunt, (as long as it isn't silenced or something).

i tried Divine Favor like 6-7 times. and it was nearly always dead weight, cause you have so much cycle early on. and later on you want to keep some of your buff cards for the right moment. not sure if 1 drops can save it. maybe the 1/1 with taunt/devine shield and Vicious Slitherspear can help. i was crafting a pirate warrior and pirate rouge deck recently. the power lvl is so high, its scary. you need some decent synergy on top, to survive them with 1 drops. oh, and pulling 1 drops with call to arms is not the best. maybe a mix of strong 1 and 2 drops.

i wish someone tried it recently. but most Da Undatakah decks i see are 2-3+ years old. and i think its realy realy hard to survive with those 2 slow cards currently.
realy wierd. Whirlpool is designed to counter something like prelate. but you always keep the prelate on the board + buffs. the funny thing is, he even used 2 of those whirlpool cards. i guess a bug?
At the moment Whirlpool is played there are no other copies of Prelate anywhere else to destroy. So first Whirlpool destroys the Prelate and afterwards the deathrattle triggers that shuffles a copy in your deck. I think it works as intended
Minus is, this deck is straightforward to play and doesn't run Lightforged Cariel but at this point I don't know if Immortal Prelate could ever work (competitively) in a hand control deck (since it's always vulnerable to silence).

1b) If you don't have all those cards you could try a deck with Wild Pyromancer, Equality, City Tax, Holy Maki Roll, Lord Barov and Righteous Defense. Equality shouldn't be played with Immortal Prelate so you can add Knight of Anointment to draw your holy spells faster and Crystology to draw Knight of Anointment.
2) At least 3, but 4-5 is optimal.
6) Lightforged Blessing is quite slow but can be fun with Wild Pyromancer.
7) Cycling is indeed important. You can consider adding 3 mana naga or Divine Favor.
7.1) I would never use Call to Adventure because it limits your deckbuilding options too much. Crystology should be enough.
8) Da Undatakah is way too slow.
9) Blessing of Wisdom is too slow and doesn't work in a control deck.
10) If you put some Libram of Wisdom tempo into your deck by using Sunwing Squawker and add some synergy like Kotori Lightblade, Eydis Darkbane, Veteran Warmedic, Gadgetzan Auctioneer or charge minions, libram can be fun.
11) Unfortunately, making mummies is way too slow. I have no experience with Val'anyr but the cariel weapon should be better.
I'll just add something that works for me: By using Drek'Thar and Call to Arms you can very reliably thin out your deck and put the prelate on the battlefield which makes them an ideal target for field buffs if they manage to survive a turn. hello. thank you a lot for the reply and helpfull tips. i tried to implement some of your suggestions and are currently playing with that:
2. what cards do you use to copy the prelate?
2.a Desperate Stand was creating way to many copys. hard to cycle with and cant buff them reliable.
2.b Gift of Luminance was better. the minion is 1/1, but thats ok. best use it on prelate that has taunt and/or lifesteal allready imo. realy hard to use against priest. cause you cant trade it after you copy it (cause of devine shield). so the priest can silence always 2 of your prelates. and they always have 2 Shard of the Naaru. what a pain.
2.c i want to try zola. but need cut Drek'Thar then?
2.d Faceless Manipulator seems like best. but its expensive with 5 mana
1.b Lord Barov and 2x Equality are super sticky in my hand. for you too? maybe i was just lucky, that i dont need them.
1.a have you tried both versions? 1. midrange and 2. low cost/cycle? drek that and call to arms seem strong but ill aim for midrange i think. for more options.
thank you again. i have a lot of fun so far with the deck. cheers
Hi I'm glad I could help, the deck you posted looks promising and I'll try it myself.
2. I use double Gift of Luminance. I have no experience with Desperate Stand but I can definitely see where it goes wrong.
2b. Yes priest (and sometimes shaman with Devolve, Devolving Missiles) can be very annoying. Luckily, most other decks are kinda okay. The (only) way I found to bypass that is to tempo play for board so the opponent is forced to use silence before you play the prelate.
2c. Zola might work but I don't know for sure. If you decide to cut Drek'Thar you could consider Queen Azshara + Holy Maki Roll + extra pyromancer. Other options could be Cariel Roame/ Blademaster Samuro/The Leviathan. A last option could be to include more 2 cost minions (example Bloodmage Thalnos) and add a second Call to Arms.
2d. Faceless Manipulator is kinda slow, maybe 1 copy could work.
1b. You can consider cutting them because I suggested it with you not having much minions on board and right now it's dangerous for your own minions. Also I forgot to mention this but it'll always be useless against quest hunter.
1a. I personally play low cost/cycle but that's also because I lack some key cards for midrange.
Good luck!
hi there! thanks for the reply. im having tons of fun with those Prelates. my winrate is like 50% at platin rank, not amazing, but better then expected.

3.4. Drek'Thar vs Lokholar the Ice Lord
2x call to arms and 1x drek thar is kinda to much imo. im also not happy when he pulls Alliance Bannerman, so an other plus for lokholar.
4. Queen Azshara, Cariel Roame, Blademaster Samuro, The Leviathan
they all look realy strong. i have azshara and cariel and want to try them. but i feel its realy hard to fit them in. im focused on cycle right now. maybe the transition to midrange is not that hard. will try later on. thanks for suggestions.
5. Bloodmage Thalnos
im not to happy with wild pyro for now. maybe thalnos works out better. thx
thats what im using for now.
cheers!

Imprisoned Vilefiend seems like a great addition. Maybe Hold the Bridge could make it even better? For the rest the deck looks rly solid, and Lokholar the Ice Lord is good vs aggro.

i wish someone tried it recently. but most Da Undatakah decks i see are 2-3+ years old. and i think its realy realy hard to survive with those 2 slow cards currently.
realy wierd. Whirlpool is designed to counter something like prelate. but you always keep the prelate on the board + buffs. the funny thing is, he even used 2 of those whirlpool cards. i guess a bug?
1. i wish midrange paladin wouldnt be so super expensive. i have like 15 legendarys for that deck ... and still missing like 4-5 to make it work. lol.
2. an other idea was: combine it with murloc or mecha tribe.
2.1. both of them have good early game.
2.2. they also have insane card draw with Radar Detector and Tip the Scales. tip the scales is kinda expensive tho
2.3. but i guess, adding prelate tech would make them to weak.
At the moment Whirlpool is played there are no other copies of Prelate anywhere else to destroy. So first Whirlpool destroys the Prelate and afterwards the deathrattle triggers that shuffles a copy in your deck. I think it works as intended
You can always try my deck that I made a week ago: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1409061-tempo-divine-shield-immortal-prelate
It makes use of Dun Baldar Bridge, Drek'Thar and Call to Arms as most expensive cards, which can/ should all be used as soon as you have them in hand which makes Divine Favor a good option. Not to mention I can often play them on turn 3 due to Murkwater Scribe. This deck also doesn't solely rely on Immortal Prelate which makes it more consistent. Ways to buff the prelate are (Prismatic Jewel Kit, Dun Baldar Bridge, Seafloor Savior, Ring of Courage, Noble Mount and Alliance Bannerman). It does quite well in diamond.
Minus is, this deck is straightforward to play and doesn't run Lightforged Cariel but at this point I don't know if Immortal Prelate could ever work (competitively) in a hand control deck (since it's always vulnerable to silence).
