Why is his effect completely random on the 2nd proc of that battlecry? It seems like it should work like Brann, where you discover a card, and then discover another card. But the way it works you just get a random 2nd card. Also when using him with Mistrunner, the 2nd +3/+3 goes to a random minion. I have even had the 2nd buff go on the Mistrunner himself making me miss lethal.
Im sure its by design, but it doesn't really make sense. And it makes him WAY less powerful.
That's an interesting find, I wasn't aware it functioned that way.
I guess this limits his power to battlecries with specific targets or none at all. Otherwise you could end up hurting yourself with stuff or even buffing the enemy minions.
It's because you can't target with a card if you don't play it, same with randomly cast spells.
Bolner is supposed to double the battlecry. With Brann and even the battlecry Quest shaman has, it doesn't work this way. If you play a Venomous Scorpid you should discover 2 spells, not discover 1 and then add a random one to your hand.
It’s because Bolner is the source of the copied battle cry. The game treats doubling and copying separately. Playing Arid Stormer gives Bolner wind fury and rush.
The copied battlecry of Mistrunner can’t target Bolner, since battlecries can’t target the source minion. (I’m 99% sure this is the case, but I haven’t actually thoroughly tested this one)
Now, this does mean that if you stick Bolner for a turn, you could play something that buffs itself and then a bunch of battlecry minions to create a really big Bolner.
calling him a weaker Brann isn’t completely warranted, as there are some applications where he may be better. (Bolner - Granite Forgeborn - Firefly gives more cost reduction then the same with Brann) However, loosing the ability to, say, Brann - Kalimos for 12 to the face certainly does make him weaker in some situations.

But he doesn't actually double the battlecry, he activates the battlecry of the first battlecry minion you played every time you play subsequent battlecry minions.
So you play Bolner, then a Primal Dungeoneer, then an Armor Vendor, after you play the armor vendor, you will get another activation of primal dungeoneer.
And then if you were able to play any further battlecries that turn, they will all cause another activation of Primal Dungeoneer.
When you only play one battlecry minion after Bolner, it appears as though its doubling it, but it's activating his specific effect of replaying the first one again, so it appears as though it was just doubled.
2-Cost 1/4; Battlecry: After you play a Battlecry minion, repeat the first Battlecry played this turn.
He seems fun in Wild, which explains why most of this thread so far is about Wild interactions, but it's been hard to find Battlecries in Standard that are cheap enough and good enough to want to repeat. Has anyone experienced any real success there?

This deck (or one containing this combo) was theorycrafted before launch of the expansion. I opened Bolner in a pack recently and decided to give it a whirl. I got the combo like one time on a real opponent. It was glorious.
But as you may suspect, it's super slow for this meta, unfortunately. Not very consistent.
You are actually right though. I guess Bolner is activating the battlecry himself and thats why you can't buff Bolner 2x with Mistrunner. It goes once on Bolner and then once on the Mistrunner himself(via Bolner)

I wonder if this is actually intended?
