Hey, this post is kinda dumb but i recently got back into the game and am wondering if crafting a golden legendary is worth it
I started playing again after i saw the new class being added plus all the changes to ranked and such, but as of right now i have 10650 dust saved up from getting bonuses for having cards that rotated out, and i have no real interest in playing wild seeing as i need too many cards to craft to even make any of the decks that i want to play plus i would need to learn a lot of new stuff, since i started playing the game when whispers of the old gods came out, so i could also disenchant most of the cards that are in my wild sets.
But on to the topic at hand, i was wondering if it would be worth crafting a golden Maiev Shadowsong since I know it will be aw powerful meta card and i like the artwork of the card too, i already got my free legendary within the first 10 packs and didn't get it. but i need the card for my galakrond rouge deck plus pretty much any deck that will be made during the current standard year, since i can maybe see the card fall off in the next standard year rotation with the sheer amount of cards to come, the card will probably be only used in control/highlander decks at the time
So im just wondering if creating a golden legendary of a card that will be used a lot this year is worth it or should i just save my dust up for other decks, such as making all the stuff i need for highlander DA and other decks (i've missed out on a lot of stuff since i stopped playing after the launch of the witchwood)
I think it depends on how many classes you can realistically see yourself playing. Personally, I tend to prefer archetypes (midrange / control) over classes, so it means that I jump around a lot and don't tend to craft golden cards. If you see yourself playing deck archetypes that you think would fit Maiev (mostly aggro/tempo/midrange), then definitely! Or, if you like classes that you think will use her (Demon Hunter/Hunter/Rogue/Others?) then she might be worth it for you.
I don't think you need to ask whether you want to spend the dust on Golden Maiev, you should ask yourself whether you think you'll want to spend the dust on something else instead. Hope this helps!
Looking at your situation, no it’s not worth it for you. Crafting a golden legendary costs 3600 dust, that’s a fortune. Just go with the normal one and use the rest of your dust for other stuff you will eventually need. Also just wait. I think Maiev will be good but I would still wait a week or so to see how things shape up. You don’t want to blow your dust on stuff that looks cool day 1 and turns out to be hot garbage.
gold cards are sweet and if you can afford them then power to you. But if you’re on a limited budget and have to scrape dust together from de’ing wild cards then crafting anything golden probably isn’t the right move for you. Just go with the regular version and give yourself the option to play with a wider variety of decks.
It all comes down to a choice, and if you feel like it: go ahead and do it.
I would consider a few things. Are you short on resources? Because if crafting a golden legendary costs 50 % of your dust and you are short on cards it seems like a bad idea. If you have plenty of resources and it doesn't matter then I can't see the problem.
Personally I don't care for golden legendaries. I have some and never notice they are golden, so it would be a waste for me. All in all it is a cost-benefit analysis where you should consider resources, card collection and how much you appreciate golden cards.
