1) HS major attraction is Standard Mode: it may be rough to admit for some of us but it's the truth; thus, those cards leaving Standard will rot in Wild hell, a Mode that should be balanced but it actually isn't because of "fun". It's not fair but it is nonetheless.
2) Wild Mode has cards that can make Odd and Even decks even more powerful (did you get the joke? No? Uhh... ok guess I'll shut up), but also archetypes that may help the players to counter them.
They want people to buy the new expansions to keep up with standard. It makes sense from a buisness standpoint. Too many people playing wild is bad for buisness.
Because Odd/Even are top tier in Wild, but pretty counterable by the Control decks you can find there.
Odd/Even make for consistent top tier decks, but not degenerate ones, for Wild powerlevel. They can just generate some spikes of stats here and there. But that is also true for Reno decks, and many others.
They were a problem only for Standard.
Also, all these threads about Odd/Even despite the HoF is telling of how the problem was almost entirely on the level of *perception*, with only few real elements.
People are still on frenzy against Odd/Even, and there's no other explanation other than Mass Hysteria.
Since they're already refunding the cards why not take this opportunity to do a slight nerf to them as well?
The card text could be changed to
Start of Game: WHILE your deck contains only odd/even cards, your starting hero power costs 1/is upgraded.
Doesn't kill the card, but makes counter play possible by stuffing cards into your opponent's deck.
S39 Legend - Quest Rogue, S38 Legend - Murloc Paladin, S37 Legend - Miracle Rogue, S36 Top 200 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S35 - Finished Rank 51 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S34 Legend - Aggro Shaman

Because that requires actual effort from their side.
Because Odd and Even decks are barely played in Wild. And not every single card needs to be nerfed, just saying.
"A bargain forged in blood and shadow"
Do you even play wild? Odd and even decks are crazy strong.

2 are relevant and they are even decks. Nothing comes close to big priest power level n wild right now
