I am not sure if I wanna laugh at some of the names this expansion or if I wanna cry. I mean, it feels like names for 5 year olds. I do understand that mad professors need weird names, but still. Also the introduction video was a bit too childish imo.
Hearthstone themes are extremely childish? That's old news. I regrettably made my first and only rant thread on roughly this subject when all those horrible Un'Goro promotions came out. But I have since come to terms with Blizzard treating the player base of their children's card game like children and you should too... there's nothing we can do about it. The promotional stuff Blizzard does for every expansion still triggers me to this day. These names/cards you mention seem like small potatoes in relation
There's a difference between childish and fun. The intro videos are meant for nothing more than fun. You can see that with a lot of the things they do within them.
Tolkien assigned non-whimsical names to gnomes, but that was because to him gnomes were a derivative of both elves and dwarves, so their names combined the two - Finwe, Feanor, Finrod, Inglor, Beren, Turgon.
From a random name generator for gnomes in Dungeons and Dragons, we have Yejin, Nescorin, Kasnan, Feljin, Hisji, Iankas, Bilhim, Xocryn, Langrim, Feldon - these seem to be influenced by Tolkien.
I'm not sure if Dragonlance was the first to assign whimsy to gnomish names, but even as popular as it is Dragonlance is often unfairly criticized as a "Lord of the Rings knock-off" when it actually developed fantasy mythology in several ways.

Yes, because WoW and Hearthstone were NEVER silly until ungoro.
Leeroy Jenkins, Blingtron 3000, annoy-o-tron, salty dog, jeeves, am'gam rager, gnomish experimenter, reno jackson, tiny knight of evil, sir findley, target dummy, and Mr Bigglesworth (Kelthuzads easter egg kitty from naxxramus) were NEVER silly jokes.

Anyway: how do you feel about some of these names? (examples: Boommaster Flark, Flobbidinous Floop, Gloop Sprayer, Whizbang the Wonderful)
I do appreciate funny stuff but I personally hope it stops with these few cards.
It looks like Rick and Morty came up with those names.

@nightcrawler. These last expansions were pretty childish yes. The first 2 years were ok.
Yeah, funny they make now more childish names.
The older the game gets the older Players are ( statwise)...Even if new players start playing.
Since I am not a native English speaker it doesn’t bother me that much . :)

Gnomish names in fantasy lore can be whimsical - some Dragonlance gnomish names are A. Diddlethompermarium, Miggins, and Thromvangilherskis.

Thanks, Mr Poopybutthole. I always could count on you.
I am ok with the names, they fit their characters.
What i am not ok with is such a theme covering the whole expansion...
I don't like all classes turned into mechs and experiments. I am considering buying only 10 packs and then improve my older releases...
Who cares?
I thought this thread was for a new card reveal called Flippy Woppy Flork Flap.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
I mean no disrespect but I really don't care. It's just names.
