Ok so with the last month of the expansion I decided I just wanted to try some cards I haven't used much but that looked interesting, one of them being the Corpsetaker. I started a bit on the "light" side, took the Stanckifka's Tempo rogue, modified it a bit to suit my playstyle a bit more and jumped into the ladder, took me to rank 8 without much trouble, then tried some handbuff keleseth paladin with the corpsetaker package and I usually ended up steam rolling my opponents and played some abnormal sized minions, finally I tried some other stuff more on the meme side like Warlock and even Tempo mage with corpsetaker packages. The whole package overall perfomed really well but I was happily surprised about 2 cards, corpsetaker (Well this one is obvious just by the name of the thread ofc) and Stormwatcher, those 2 cards won me A LOT of games, corpsetaker is such a versitile card, it's both an awesome defensive tool and an immense offensive powerhouse if not dealt with immediatly and Stormwatcher is an even stronger powerhouse and he gives you amazing value trades.
For paladin I used wickerflame, 1x Chillblade, double Rightgeous protector, Tirion, Lich King and ofc Mr. MVP Stormwatcher so that deck was borderline control-ish but in most games with like the 5 different decks I tried this package, it was just a pretty similar outcome, either of the 2 cards mentioned on the previous paragraph got boosted by either Cold Blood or Bonemare or Steed or whatever form of handbuffing on paladin and they ended up either doing high amounts of burst damage to the face or trading for amazing value so I honestly I don't get why this card sees so little play. My initial thought is that at the end most corpsetaker decks end up looking a lot similar, with all the same core cards but lets be honest, what current tempo/ mid-range ish deck does not run the same core? At least a small pirate package of 2xCaptains and patches, a solid early game taunt, either Tar Creeper or Saronite (Even Stonehill is decent), 2x Cobalt Scalebane, usually Cairne, and finally Bonemare... There has also been a rise in the usage of Flappy birds and Lich king in this type of deck (90% of the decks under this archetype are exactly this neutral cards + whatever solid/busted class cards you can fit) so why not include 3 more cards (Running 1 Stormwatcher is fine), why not include 2 decent bodies that can easily highroll your opponent? I'm not saying either of those cards is OP and that should be a staple, but both and specifically Corpsetaker is so underrated for how good it is, sure it needs a good amount of support on the back stage to function properly but most decks where she would fit already run 80% of the needed support, more people should definitely give her a chance to shine imo.
What? If anything, this card was slightly overrated before KFT released. It is voted as meta defining on this site and got good reviews across the board.
Undeniably the card is good if you hit at least 3 of the effects (but not insane/gamebreaking by any standards) but what class other than paladin can do that without severely hurting your deck with subpar cards? None of the other classes have superb lifesteal or windfury options (other than al'akir). Stormwatcher is okay I guess but if it doesn't attack it's just a vanilla 4/8 + if you happen to draw it you don't get the effect off on corpsetaker. CT then becomes a 4 mana 3/3 taunt divine shield, not super threatening by any means.
In most decks it's not worth it to run subpar cards just to power up a card that's slightly above curve, you'd rather just run all the good cards instead. That's why you only see it in paladin and why CT rogue builds got overshadowed by more consistent ones. You did good with it, chances are you could have done even better without it.
I agree partly - you cannot just put her into everything because your deck needs to be build somewhat around her. Buffing her when she has windfury is absolutely beautiful! :P

What subpar cards are you even talking about? 1 Stormwatcher on a deck to support her is not gonna change your whole deck just to fit those cards, you more than likely already have 2-3 taunts on deck so that's covered, argent squire is a decent 1 drop and commander is decent enough speci if you can buff him with Keleseth or Bonemares/ Steed/ Cold Blood and then life steal is whatever, you don't really need it, it's nice if you get it but honestly the only viable class for lifesteal is paladin, but without it the card is fine and hey I'm not saying it's OP or even much better than the standart tempo rogue lists but it's still a highly decent option to ladder with so at that point the card is underrated, it's actually pretty fun to play that kind of deck, for sure I have way more fun with those cards you call subpar and I still reached rank 5 on the first 10 days of the month and I could reach legend but I don't have the time to grind nor the will to do so as the rewards are pretty much the same.
I seem to recall most people rating corpsetaker as good or very good. Therefore it's neither underrated nor overrated. It's just rated.
I didn't mean it on a specific rating of the card by the comunnity aspect, for example Keleseth was extrremely underrated and called borderline unplayable and after the nerfs it became meta defining, everyone overhyped Corpsetaker, she's amazing but not good enough to be even close to meta defining, what I meant is she's underplayed according to how good the overall Corpsetaker decks can be and at the end that just happens because people don't thnk and/or don't realize all th potential it has.

I reached rank 5 with control paladin, doesn't make it a terrific deck. Rank 5 doesn't mean a lot for judging deck power, any tempo rogue variant can carry you there.
My point was, it was voted meta defining and it turned out to be just decent (not OP), therefore it was overrated. Yes putting 4 cards you normally wouldn't in the deck makes them slightly sub-par, especially since the end result is not gamebreaking by any means. Corpsetaker still easily dies to alot of stuff like dagger backstab + something, sw: pain, soulfire, ping frostbolt, ping wrath etc. or just a 1/1 token and a 3/3 which is super common in this meta. In the end the card is still just a 4 mana 3-3 taunt divine shield windfury with a slight deck building tax and that's not OP, it's just okay.

Corpsetaker is about as underrated as Lyra.
It was the pro scene that taught me how dangerous she can be. It's to the point where paladins stuff bad windfury cards just because of her.
So yeah, she's insane in paladin and really should be in most midrange decks.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

I play it in highlander zoo/handlock/portal warlock with 3 effects - taunt, divine shield and lifesteal (have 5 mana 4/4 lifesteal to heal myself).
Definitely won me some games by healing 6-9hp and killing enemy board.
Yes corpsetaker being in variants of two Tier 1 decks, definitely underrated.
%87 playable or very good votes on heartpwn. Lol.
