Hey guys, so I know HS has a fair few inconsistencies that I've come across in terms of card mechanics and what is true for one card may not be true for another when it should be. Is this one of those, or is there a genuine reason anyone can think of for this interaction? And if not should it be fixed?
I think the draw triggers before the damage so the stone upgrades, but it counts the summon afterwards so the bonfire would be in play before you draw. Granted I could be wrong

Hm, I don't understand why it works this way? Visually, when you play the kobold, I'm pretty sure the damage is done before the draw which would be the same as summoning the elemental. In reality, both things happen at the same time. With the elemental, the draw happens WHEN you play it, not after correct?

Doesn't the elemental spellstone take multiple elementals to upgrade it?
Yes, but it doesn't even count one towards it is what I'm saying:)
It wont, because the battlecry comes after Bonfire elemental has been played. The Kobold librarian is not activating the spellstone by the librarian being played, but the damage in the battlecry that comes after the card is drawn that activates it. If Bonfire elemental had text saying draw two cards, one was a spellstone, and the other an elemental, the drawn elemental would help activate the spellstone when played.
Battlecry: Draw a card. > (Summon an elemental to upgrade.
-----------------------------------
The Kolbold draws first. Then damages.
The elemental is played, then draws Spellstone.
This.
In sequence play happens before the battlecry, if it would read summon an elemental then the spellstone would proc since the battlecry would resolve before the minion existed on the board. That's not the case though.
Why would you use inequality symbols incorrectly when you're using equal signs? This is such a silly way to phrase your question.
Anyway this "inconsistency" is easily solved by reading the cards. You take damage from librarian after the warlock spellstone is in your hand. You have already played the Bonfire Elemental by the time the mage spellstone is in your hand so it doesn't proc.
Any spell that draws cards with mage (for example Power Word: Shield) doesn't upgrade Lesser Diamond Spellstone, since the spell is played first and then the card is drawn.
So it's fairly consistent, just kinda annoying it works that way.

Kobold librarian > spellstone = upgrade
Bonfire elemental > spellstone =/= upgrade

Kobold librarian reads "Draw a card. Deal 2 damage to Player". These action happen in order. The animation is slow, but the draw happens first.
Bonfire Elemental does not damage you.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
Kobold Librarian > Lesser Amethyst Spellstone
Battlecry: DRAW a card. Do 2 DAMAGE to your Hero. > (Take damage to upgrade)
Bonfire Elemental > Ruby Spellstone
Battlecry: Draw a card. > (Summon an elemental to upgrade.

The Kolbold draws first. Then damages.
The elemental is played, then draws Spellstone.
"Do you smell something...burning?
For some completeness, Lesser Jasper Spellstone is upgraded if you draw it with Ultimate Infestation (draws first and gains armor after).
Any spell that draws cards with mage (for example Power Word: Shield) doesn't upgrade Lesser Diamond Spellstone, since the spell is played first and then the card is drawn.
