I stopped playing in 2016 for personal stuff, and reasons that are not relevant in this thread. It was around two or three weeks after Gadgetzan was launched. I still kept watching Kripp's streams sometimes, and even getting some info about the current state of the game.
What I don't understand is this: Why in this community there was such a scandal over Yogg-Saron, Hope's End (in that time), for the way it behaved, and how it was unfair and bla bla bla... to the point that Blizzard acknowledge it as a design mistake (using other words) and it was nerfed. But then, two years later, an absolute shitfest like Shudderwock is released. Is not the randomness about it what puzzles me, is the fact that it can duplicate itself and repeat its battlecry until 20 times (I guess they thought that more than 20 would be too much) How do you feel about this card? Do you think it's healthy in a competitive aspect? Do you actually like this card as it is (playing it and played against you?
I can't think of anything Shudderwock and Yogg have in common other than a really long animation, so if someone dislikes one but not the other, I see no inconsistency.
Yog was a mistake because it allowed you to recover from games you had no business winning through sheer rng. Shudderwock decks, as much as you may dislike them, do justify winning when they do because you put a bunch of draw and mediocre cards in your deck for the purpose of Shudderwock using the battlecries. It’s a otk that requires deck building to make work, and only pays off super late game. The big difference is that Shudderwock decks have a plan to win, whereas Yog gave people the chance to win from any board and health state without any rhyme or reason (other than putting a lot of spells in the deck)
Pre nerf Yogg was simply throw the dice and maybe win a game you had no business winning. It wasn't really a win condition, it was the panic button backup plan to take a game you probably lost and hopefully turn it around.
Shudderwock IS the win condition, and your opponent knows well in advance what effects are going to happen, and can play accordingly.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
The better question would be why is Shudderwock a thing ( since he is almost a otk Legendary and they stated long time ago, they don’t like uninteractive decks) .
I believe it’s because they added such ridiculous endgame value like Ultimate Investation, Guhldan, Deadmanshand , Hadronox, Questrouge,Questpriest with Benedictus and Several Overpowered DK heropowers . It would be mindblowing adding even higher value cards. To beat the those you ether play them , play aggro or some otkish stuff. Normal Legendarys don’t cut it anymore.

Shudderwock is a lot different than Yogg. The order of effect activation is random, but the effects are entirely controlled. You know exactly what you're getting, and you can manipulate the odds such that random order activation isn't very impactful.

Shudderwock still has an arbitrary element in that I think it targets indiscriminately when repeating the battlecries but he still needs some set-up.
Yogg was just pure RNG that only took into account the cast spell count prior to its arrival. Not much similarity between the two I think.
