As the title suggests damn did I think this death knight was gonna be bad due to the playstyle of Hunter but damn does his hero power really help with some control options - a combination of Stubborn Gastropod and Exploding Bloatbat. Very good zombeast huh? well combine that with Spiritsinger Umbra in a n'zoth deck and you are in business :)
Seen or made any cool combinations with build-a-beast? I would love to hear about them :)
build-a-beast represents a lot of value, but value isn't what a slower hunter deck is missing. hunter needs board control to be able to support anything other than aggro, and without anything other than rexxar himself for board clears, hunter is probably going to stay right where it has since launch.
Great hero power, it's just that you're forced to change strategy when you lose the 2 dmg to face every turn.
I'm looking forward to a good control style deck that can have enough AOE, heal and taunt to get into the late game. That's where this hero power really shines
Well it performs well now when there is a lot of experimentation and control but in week or two it will probably be too slow. I hope I am wrong because I really like the idea of Hunter being control class. Even though I like Hunter that midrange-face archetype is becoming really boring to me
Ability to make beasts is great, but it is horrible for current hunter. If one day there is successful control hunter, then it will be integral part of it.
this card is your late game, no need for any other late game cards, this card is insane. And even if its not a tier 1 card in the coming meta, its so much fun to play with.
I played a game today when hunter opponent had me down to 7 health (with 2x Kill Command already spent). Then he played Deathstalker Rexxar, forfeiting his hero power and allowing me to get back into the game and win.
Rexxar is the most fun DK hero this expansion. Kinda sad that Priest and Rogue, the meme classes, didn't get any reall meme DK cards. But Rexxar is enough for me. Yeah I understand that in one week nobody is gonna play Deathstalker Rexxar anymore, because everybody just netdecks Aggro decks and Control Warlock, but until then, let's have some Zombeast fun.
rexxar is kinda cool. wish i would have got the cards to play the awsome cards i needed to play the control hunter deck i(and probebly you) wanted to see, insted of that dumb face hunter version....

priest board clears are like having fun in hearthstone. you think u had enough, and then u get more.
It's a fun card but you need really good mulligan and draws to win anything. If anybody has been able to make a deck that is consistent please share, because so far I've had no luck. I'd be happy with ~ 40% wr since it obviously isn't a competitive deck. Just trying to have fun on casual
Rexxar is very nice, but Hunter overall is rly rly rly weak.
Im Priest main since Beta and but i played a lot of hunter today cause Rexxar is fun to play, but jesus, it feels like im going vom Tier 1 Heaven with Anduin to the bottom of the food chain when i switch to Hunter - so sad ;(

I run secret package (now featuring putricide), lots of early game beasts, some removal, doomsayers, and DK Rexxar. I'm 13-4 with the deck so far. I use genzo and tracking to get to dk faster!

Well stonetusk boar with lots of stuff - gastropod, vicious fledgling, bloatbat
I had a blast with young dragon hawk + knuckles
Tundra rhino + bloodworm
The kodo that deals attack damage as battle cry + duskboar
Its the most fun I've had with a hero power for sure

I think it's good as a plan B for midrange hunter. It can be used to get some late game when the fast victory is impossible.
But, it's bad if you try to build a deck around it, as hunter lacks the control tools necessary for it.

My friend got Rexxar from the prologue and I'd love to have it myself. I got valeera the worthless.
I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
It's not worth giving up your hero power. Hunter without hero power has no reach to finish the game.

I love the combinations, especially Dispatch Kodo + Anything! Dispatch Kodo + Bloodworm for quick Holy Fire, Dispatch Kodo + poison for nice Deadly Shot and my favourite Exploding Bloatbat + Stonetusk Boar for advanced Explosive Shot!

Standard Hunter has plenty of board control options. I have no idea why people think it's difficult to survive until turn 6, ffs.
