I know it's lackluster now, but Spiritsinger Umbra will only get better as more and more deathrattle cards get added to game, right? I really want to craft it. Help me justify the dust investment.
Definitely no. Your dust isn't going anywhere and that card is not very good at the moment. Crafting anything when we are on the cusp of a new expansion and entirely new meta is generally a terrible idea. You are also just assuming it will get better without any proof. The one deathrattle card we have seen from the next expansion is average at best and the interview on the front page of hearthpwn clearly states deathrattles are not a huge focus in the new expansion. Besides, even if deathrattles are the new hotness suddenly, that doesn't automatically justify running Umbra in any of those decks.
I am not sure I crafted it but it seems it works well with low cost deathrattle minions at late game it is really hard to maintain this card on board so don't even think about using this with big minions except Slyvanas kind of death rattle returns to the the game.
So don't rush to craft one yet because this card is strong as much as the death rattle minions you play with.
...but as the total number of deathrattle cards increase in the game, it's very likely this card will, at some point in the future, be viable, maybe even meta-defining. right? right??
Was the 1st legendary I got from Ungoro and have to admit..having a hard time making it work...opponents always see it as an instakill..my best shots have been with a deathrattle jade rogue and shaman so far...will keep on trying.

I had to learn the hard way with Troggzor, you seem to need Umbra to teach you.
Just to note, this means you can craft one less legendary come next expansion. So if you find that there's a card you find very interesting, more than Umbra, come next expansion, you'll be a little stuck.
To note, the best time to craft cards is 2 weeks AFTER the next expansion. At that point, most of the cards have been studied and analyzed so you can learn which cards are good competitively, which cards are just fun, whihc cards are worthless, so on. Before then, you tend to get caught up with the hype-nonhype of cards and will regularly be told to get/ignore cards that later turn out to be horrible/great.
I crafted it the day after Un'goro launched #noregrets
It's not gonna take you to the top of the ladder, but it will occasionally show you a hell of a good time. If you value fun, wacky situations and hard-to-pull combo stuff, Umbra is a must have.
Dont disenchant it now, there's an expansion coming out that is supposed to contain a lot of deathrattles. It's not great but it seems almost playable with Priest
I'm glad I packed her on the expansion release, otherwise I may have actually crafted her. I've had a ton of fun with the card, but 9 times outta 10 she doesn't live to the next turn. Holding it in hand to combo with something is even worse, as typically whatever combo you have does nothing for the face rush that is coming your way.
It's essentially a win-more and greedy card that can stick it to control decks occasionally, but aggro just laughs.

There are ways to make the card useful against aggro such as Mistress of Mixtures, Volatile Elemental (idk spelling) and Devilsaur Egg

craft it WHEN it's viable

Just craft it if you want, noone cares. But as everyone has said already: it is smarter to wait at least until you see all the new cards.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

I predict it's going to be a must-have card in the near future--mark my words! everyone go craft it!

3-0 with it at rank 14 so far...
For what it's worth:
Fun fact: if you create a deck with Spawn of N'Zoth on hearthpwn, you get a trophy.
