I noticed that so far, zero of the currently revealed Witchwood cards as of 4/6/18 have the Discover keyword, a dramatic shift from the plague of Discover cards found within every Kraken/Mammoth expansion prior.
Do you think Blizzard decided to abandon the Discover mechanic for the future? Or is this just a giant coincidence so far? I just noticed this trend for the Witchwood and it’s quite intriguing.

I'm creating a new custom expansion: The Bitter Reaches! Check out the progress on my Imgur page! ( http://lemondude617.imgur.com/ )
They had a bunch of discover cards in Ungoro, but they had fewer in the later expansions (2 in Knights of the Frozen Throne, and 1 in Kobolds and Catacombs). They probably want to play with other keywords, like rush and echo. They might just not do discover this expansion (or maybe just 1 or 2).
I think they wanted to make discover a LoE keyword, but they realised how much players like it, so they added more and more. Now they are trying to limit it, since it's far past the LoE time. That's just how I see it.
In its core discover is an awesome mechanic. BUT when you look at the bigger picture its flawed. Overtime discover cards we loved get saturated by bad cards being released. Netherspite Historian got Hoarding Dragon and the crappy 34 that reduces weapon cost. Dark Peddler no longer discovers 1mana 4 dmg burst or good 1 drops. Cabal Courier is way less consistent... eventually all these cards will be absoloutely obselete. A sad future for some of the most fun cards in the game
We have seen little more than a half of the srt, i think there is a good chance we'll see that keyword
But i also think that discover at first was fun and inventive, and had a lot of design space. They used up that design space really well, to the extent that i think it is hard for developers to come up with next discover cards that won't be simmilar to already existing ones, like I know a guy spell from MSoG and un'goro's Stonehill defender. They don't want a card saying "discover an Echo card".
Players have become fatigued by the discover mechanic. It has become largely a controlled RNG function that has gone too far in deciding games. Blizzard usually gives it too wide a range of options as in the case of Promrdial Glyph. No you should not have to play around an 8 mana Pyroblast especially when facing tempo secret mage. Blizzard has also limited the range of options too much as well as is the case for Shadow Visions. 9 times out of 10, you find the answer you are looking for. There is a sweet spot somewhere, but Blizzard has to be more careful when releasing these cards in the future. I will be happy if we get 3 or less in each expansion going forward.

It's possible. Or it might just not fit their vision of the flavor. Or just coincidence
Probably just coincidence, but nice catch, I didn't notice until now.

They much prefer "random" I think..
