In today's Blizzard post about the Kabal, there is the following line: "We are at our STRONGEST when our decks only have a SINGLE COPY of each card!" That seems like a weird thing to say if it was only Kazakus that cared about this. However, Blizzard has said before that they don't want to include too much of this effect. And it really doesn't seem like the sort of thing that you could put on low rarity cards.
Sooo... all that leads to my theory that all of the Kabal class Legendaries (Mage, Priest, and Warlock), will have an effect along the lines of Reno. That'd be pretty cool!
That makes sense, but Reno is rotating out in a few months and unless we get more powerful reno-like legendaries next expansion, those legendaries will be pretty weak in standard, but fine for wild.
Reno decks rotate out next spring. I wonder if Blizzard is content to invigorate an archetype only for a quarter of the year and then screw over 3/9 classes for the rest of MSG lifespan. I don't think Kazakus alone is enough to maintain the archetype without Reno. They must have at least one more no-duplicates-in-deck card for Kabal. Or maybe they plan to keep Reno in standard?
Don't think there will be more than 1 reno-like card each expansion. "at our STRONGEST" mean you have the big bonus fromKazakus. Because kazakus give you a literally OP spell.
It gives you one op spell, but does this justify to cut all the duplicates from your deck without Reno? Oftentimes even today a match against Renolock comes down to wether Reno is drawn until T6 or not, so I think OP might not be entirely wrong with his assumption.
I don't know that they will have any more highlander cards this expansion, but I definitely think there will be at least one added when reno rotates out. Kazakus is really cool, but I don't think hes going to be good enough on his own to justify a one-of deck. Just too inconsistent.
Like reno I think this is an "autowin" card. Aggro just concede after you play reno and you take advantage on some control decks. This is the same for kazakus but more efficient against control and less against aggro. Because you clear the board but you don't heal yourself so aggro will just face again and again. But combined with reno this is a perfect duo ! And against control resurrecting minions or summoning a 8/8 can push a brawl and then you can safely play your big minions. I think these two cards played together will be insane !
Reno decks work because you can heal to full after struggling for board control with an inconsistent deck and using health as a resource to stall. I'm not sure if Kazakus' spell is enough of a powerspike.
I don't know about that. From my perspective, many of the Kabal cards revealed so far seem great in Reno decks such as Kabal Courier, Manic Soulcaster, Kabal Chemist, Abyssal Enforcer, Volcanic Potion and Dragonfire Potion. And take into account not that many Kabal cards have been revealed so far, yet so many of them fit to the Reno archetype decks. As such i don't think they meant it in the way that they're directly adding more cards that care about having no duplicates, but rather cards that fit very well into decks utilizing no duplicates, in addition to being usable in decks with duplicates.
Perhaps if they add now enough cards that fit well into Reno decks, there will be a deck with Kazakus and also a few duplicates, but mostly one-ofs when Reno finally rotates out, making Kazakus a card only usable in the late-game when all duplicates have been drawn from the deck. Maybe it could work.
Well, after seeing the Mage class card today (Inkmaster Solia), this is looking very likely! Woot!
From the pictures/revealers, I'm guessing we see the Priest Legendary on Friday, and the Warlock one Saturday. Any guesses on their effects? The one being voted on looks like it could be a mind control effect.
Well, assuming the Priest legendary is being revealed on Friday, the art does not look very heal related at all. In fact, it looks like a mind control effect as well.
What I expect based from the art: Amaz's card is the Priest legendary and it is a 10 mana 4/4, if your deck has no dupli, gain control of an enemy minion. Card reveal on saturday is Warlock legendary which based from the art, is either a gnome that summons a Demon, like Wilfred Fizzlebang (lore) or we will be getting a Void Lord.

So basically a Mind Control with a 4/4 body? I doubt it. It would be pretty unplayable, just as MC is too greedy.

Mind control is almost playable on it's own, stealing anything over 5 mana is great. Put a 4/4 ontop of that and it's insane! A 4/4 is worth 3.5 mana so it means MC is basically 6.5 mana which is only slightly more expensive than entomb but the tempo is huge! Even stealing an enemy 4/4 is a 7 mana swing. I would not be surprised though if the priest legendary has a 3 or 4 attack restriction and costs 8 or 9 mana, basically a bigger cabal with 5/6 body perhaps. You will need to use pint-size potion to steal big.

Reno is only auto win against aggro if you overextend resources against the Reno deck. I can't tell you how many times I've brought someone back down to 5~ health the turn after Reno and played enough threats after that that the opponent couldn't keep up.

3 theme in expansion.
1) highlander greedy deck
2) RNG +/+ meta.
3) tempo deck

My custom cards thread here (53 cards)
6 mana 4/6 Battlecry: If your deck contains no more than 1 of any card, gain 40 armor. Kappa

I only know that Priest legendary will be dragon form of Kazakus and Warlock legendary will be a witch doctor.
I sure hope so because I play renolock in wild.
