Who doesn't love Lord Jaraxxus? His effect, his emotes, all great fun. But will he ever be viable?
I had Jaraxxus for a while, and he always just sat in my collection. So I looked up if I should DE him, and found a post from a year and a half ago. Some guy said that he is very slow, and it takes 2 turns to even get value out of him besides the fact that he can heal you to 15.
You could say that`s not true because you get the weapon. Let`s be real here, the weapon is crap and you can only go face. Since you can only get 15 health max now, attacking a minion will be dangerous. Now you`re saying you can just use heal. But Renolock just uses Reno Jackson for here, and playing Jaraxxus before Reno is usually a terrible mistake.
The guy also stated that he`s way to slow in the meta, also true. And reminder that this post was a year and a half ago. The meta was fast back then, still is and it will always be until Whispers is out of standard and even then Shaman, Hunter and Warlock will get more BS cards to keep the cancer running.
So in review, let's look at Jaraxxus.
-9 mana, extremely slow
-Set your hero's health to 15
-Deal 3 damage face every turn until you die which is probably next turn because Jaraxxus used all of your mana. The damage is usually irrelevant.
- Summon a 6/6 for your hero power which only does something 2 of your turns later, giving plenty of time for your opponent to kill you (If you can even play him in the first place)
And even if your game does go long enough that Jaraxxus gets value, there's Yogg.
Are you serius ? Ahhaaahahahahah ... first of all you wont play jaraxxus against a tempo mage with a lot of damage unless you re in a critical position but for example against a passive control priest it wins the game on his own .. just spammimg 6/6 . Against any control is sick just control warrior can be dangerous couse of grommash . You can always play thaurisan in your deck and have a turn 10 with gaining life if you had less than 15 , gainst 3/8 weapon and play a 6/6 . Jaraxxus is just sick , you can play alextrasza instead of it couse can be used for 'active' plays but for nexample a control warrior its pretty useless.
When you start a post with saying a card is overrated, usually its a card considered to be very very good or amazing. Jaraxxus is a good card but I don't think he's ever been overrated by the community.
Jaraxxus is great in certain matchups and for certain warlock decks.
Also have you ever heard of voidcaller?
Jaraxxus was amazing in handlock when you would go down extremely low and heal back up and get giants behind taunts.
"Will he ever be viable"
I had to facepalm this. It sounds like you have no clue of the history of the card. With renolock he's invaluable in certain matchups, and he has a history of being a very strong card when handlock was a thing.
Jaraxxus is sick. Most renolock decks run thaurissan too which if it ticks on jarraxus allows a hero power on same turn. And you can taunt the elementals and blow them up with shadowflame the next turn too for value.
jarraxus is win condition against control decks. Yes it's bad against burst damage and hunters but that's only a small percentage of overall meta
For everyone who doesn't think Jaraxxus is overrated you have to put this post in context. This post was frozen in the internets since 2014 when the hype over how OP Jaraxxus was really strong.
In general.
I think Jaraxxus is a strong card. Not top of top tier, but good.
He comes in and out of control Warlock depending on the meta.
He is best against control decks, because he is a little slow, though sometimes the 15 health heal is enough to stabilize against aggro.
Really decks just seem to be a but too fast for poor Renolock, and Molten Giant had to die because of...reasons. Mage could dupe a bunch of Molten Giants and that was too powerful? That rotated out soooooo....Handlock got replaced with Renolock forever ago so I don't see how Handlock was the problem. Anyway since the answer to can I play control in this meta is: Are you playing Warrior? Then Jarraxus isn't too great right now.
Lord Jaraxxus was a staple card in Handlock and Demonlock when both of those decks were a thing - it's only very recently that Handlock stopped being a good deck (with the nerf to Molten Giant). Asking 'Will he ever be viable?' makes it sound like he never was, which is just blatantly not true.
I also don't really understand calling him 'overrated', because that assumes people thought he was better than he was, which I don't think anybody did. While Warlock had slower decks, he was a great card and people knew that. Now that they don't people correctly don't play him.

Yeah, a card that heals you to 15, gives you a 3/8 weapon and OP hero power is terrible.

Yes, Jaraxxus is good against basically Fatigue decks. Guess how often you play against those.

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!
Disagree. His rendition of "I Will Survive" gives me chills.
Don't even get me started on his "Dust In the Wind". Impeccable.
