It might sound weird, but playing C'Thun, Shadowsteping it and then putting it back on your next turn seems a little bit unfair since your opponent can't do anything about it. My guess is that they're going to make it one mana, just like the toxin from Xaril, Poisoned Mind. Like that, you can still Shadowstep and play your C'Thun, but only on your next turn, leaving your opponent a chance to kill it. Or maybe they'll just leave the card as it is. Your thoughts?
Hmm... I thought the buff was supposed to be like a stormwind champion buff. Meaning that it would keep the buff even if it was resurrected or returned to hand. I could be wrong though.
sorry to say it but you are wrong C'Thun buffing works complete different to any other card buff the actual buff related to this card is tie to the player so even if you Shadowstep him he hold all the buffs.
No friend, because shadowstepping removes all buffs. C'thune will go back to being a 6/6 if you did that :)
Actually the C'Thun buff is on the Player, not the card itself.
Can we get an official ruling on this
The buff has to be applied to the player since you can't actually buff minions while their in your deck. We've seen this demonstrated multiple times through The Mistcaller. The Mistcaller actually gives your hero the buff: "Whenever you draw a minion, give it +1/+1." This is seen by playing Mistcaller, then Golden Monkey, and then all legends you draw from then on get +1/+1.

I was thinking the same. Two of the toxins exist as cards at the same cost: Arcane Shot/Holy Smite and Blessing of Might. Since Shadowstep also exists as a card but costs 0, I can see that getting changed. Maybe even conceal will be nerfed, since the Finicky cloakfield 2.0 Toxin is just a 1-mana spell to give a single target stealth. Conceal is also much better, like shadowstep. The way things look now, the balance is not consistent, but Arcane Shot and Blessing of Might are from different classes so maybe it's not indicative of a nerf.
Shadowstep + N'Zoth the Corruptor is equally as impressive as shadowstepping a C'Thun . Seems it would wreck control warrior pretty bad. Not only is brawl bad when you play N'Zoth because it's deathrattles, you could potentially shadowstep and do it all over again later(even twice if you really want to burn 2 slots on shadowstep but this might be overkill)
Off topic, but it would be nice to see "slower" games that don't revolve around some wombo combo(Murloc pally for example) or some BS double entomb shenanigans. I'm a little scared C'thun is going eventually have a variant that just spews dmg at the face after the opponent runs out of cards.
I agree that it doesn't necessarily need to be nerfed. The issue is there was an official Blizzard statement claiming that some of the rogue spells were problematic and resulted in limiting design space. I wouldn't be surprised if the cards that were targeted were Conceal, Shadowstep and Preparation as those are all cheap (or cost 0) and enable some strong combos that Blizz might want to avoid. Old gods with Shadowstep seem to be very strong so it would make sense to maybe change the cost to 1 but make the reduction 3 (still a nerf but not as serious) or even change the cost to 2 but make the minion free (a potential buff in some cases and not unlike Reincarnate). I would rather it stay as it is so I don't have to rely on Emperor shenanigans with my C'Thun decks but I'm worried that won't be the case.

Defeating a sandwich only makes it tastier.

The buff definitely stays. So you're right, it is really strong. I'd be very surprised if they didn't nerf Shadowstep for this reason.

I don't think Blizz would nerf Shadowstep, coz no matter what that combo would exists, because rogue has Preparation
