This is a deck to try to mimic old Dreadsteed yellow-brick brawl deck.
General Gameplan
- 1. Play Cheat Death or have two Kobold Illusionist in your hand.
- 2. Control the board with Sap, Backstab, Eviscerate, Shadowblade and Doomerang.
- 3. Play Kobold Illusionist as a taunt. You have an unbeatable wall now. Every time it dies, it brings another Kobold Illusionist from your hand. If you have only one but also has Cheat Death, it will trigger before the deathrattle, so it will work.
- 4. If the opponent plays silences, concede (unless you have already several Kobold Illusionists via Mimic Pod or Cheat Death; if you get a Frog or Sheep, use backstab to kill it so it won't trigger your Cheat Death)
- 5. When you have one more Kobold Illusionist (by drawing, or cheating death) in your hand, play it as a charger for clearing the board one damage at a time.
- 6. When you have two again, put the second one as charger and Cold Blood it to deal damage to face. Do not do removal with it, use the 1/1 for it, you need some source of face damage or you will fatigue.
Mulligan
Mulligan hard for Cheat Death and one Kobold Illusionist. If you get more of one of these cards, it's safe to mulligan them away. If you don't get any of them, discard your whole hand. Card draw and early removal are good, but your deck is full of it. The earliest you get both on the board, the biggest your chance of survival.
Card swaps
This deck depends basically on Cheat Death and Kobold Illusionist. All the rest of it is flexible. For example, you can run Preparation instead of Eviscerate to do free Fan of Knives or Mimic Pod.
I would take out Doomerang and replace it with Headcrack, you're not going to control much with Doomerang. If you don't draw your cards early you're not going to win anyway. Better throw some extra face damage in.
At the point you've got everything set, you play this as a combo and you'll do every turn 2 damage. You're definitely an unlucky player like me so you draw always different cards than Cheat Death or Kobolt Illusionist, so you're eventually definitely getting this multiple times before you got your game winning cards, increasing your damage in hand to max 6 per turn.
If you have Cold Blood just leave it in I guess, else I would replaced it with Shiv for damage and extra draw or Razorpetal Volley for damage and combo material. The problem with Cold Blood is that one board clear or ping on your 5/1 charge and you don't have any damage anymore, and for instance a hunter could out damage you.
This is hilarious to play omg
